Maryland is home to the largest sheep and wool festival in North America – possibly the world. So? Think of all the sheep in Australia – yet we have the biggest festival right here in our own back yard.
It is always the first weekend in May at the Howard County Fair Grounds and it is usually one of the most perfect days of the year. The admission is free – so the price it right. It is the perfect way to kill a day with your kids and friends. Have some ice cream, cotton candy and kettle corn. Pet a few sheep – and then go have a lamb burger, and laugh about the almost morbid aspects of that! Do you love the movie Babe? Well, here you can see some real live sheep dog trials. If you like hand crafts you will find the selection here interesting and the prices very reasonable. If you like to do your own handcrafts you won’t find a better selection of supplies for weaving, knitting, spinning, and much, much more!
