I went to Dr. Elfering several years ago. I was very young (in my teens) and she wanted to remove my whole meniscus in my knee (she is an orthopedist). She said several things that just didn't sound right. In addition, she had to put three different casts on me because every time that she put one on, it would just slide right off. I decided to have a second opinion and found that she was way off the mark - that putting me in a cast for the type of injury I had was not going to do anything. In addition, the other doctor I saw found that there was nothing wrong with the meniscus and that I just had an overgrowth of tissue. Once the tissue was removed, eveything was fine. Thank goodness I didn't let her operate on me and remove something unnecessarily, especially when I was so young.
