I'd heard great things about Marche so maybe my expectations were too high, but I was kind of disappointed after my visit today. It was Mother's Day so I'm sure it was much busier than normal but it just didn't live up to the hype. We had a 45 minute wait (understandably so) but I liked the European feel and interior and was looking forward to the food.\r
When we sat down I was kind of disappointed with the menu. I was hoping that a place renowned for brunch would have more brunch-type options. There was only one quiche and one omelette on the menu and then entrees like pork chop, steak/eggs, pasta, salmon, and some others. I decided on the omelette and my boyfriend decided on the quiche (since we were both in the mood for brunch). After ordering, our waitress told us they were out of the quiche listed and the replacement was a broccoli cheddar quiche. The broccoli cheddar sounded kind of ordinary so my boyfriend had to pick something else and defaulted to the same omelette that I was ordering. I wish she'd told us about the menu change when we first sat down, but was still looking forward to the food. We also ordered the salmon tartar appetizer.\r
Our omelets arrived, but no salmon tartar. We had to ask for it and our waitress brought it out immediately but it's a pet peeve of mine to not receive an appetizer before my meal. Both the tartar and omelets were good, but not great. Also the tartar came with only 4 pieces of toast (which really wasn't enough) so we asked for more. Our waitress asked if we wanted toast or bread and we said whatever is easier and it still took about 10 minutes for two slices of bread to get to the table. Overall, it was a less than stellar experience but I'd be willing to give Marche another visit, maybe next time for lunch or dinner.\r
For anyone who lives around South Nashville, I think Sofie's Bistro has a better brunch menu (Sundays only) and since I don't live in East Nashville, I'll probably stick with Sofie's for Sunday brunch.
Pros: Good food, nice interior
Cons: Seating is limited, no waiting area
