Definitely a must! 8/24/2008

Good food, service, authentic dishes, and great atmosphere. I truly recommend this place for Italian. Plus, there's parking, which is always great in Seattle. Pros: parking, service, food, selection Cons: price- but worth it more

Great hole in the wall Italian place 5/21/2008

By the looks of the outside, Marcello's is nothing special. But step inside and you are transported into another world. The open fireplace in the middle makes the whole place warm and cozy. The ambiance is fantastic. Pros: Gnocchi, ambience, location, desserts Cons: service on holidays more

Great food! 10/25/2007

My absolute favorite restaurant! They have amazing seafood! I think the gamberi is my favorite. The chicken cacciatora is also quite yummy. The chicken is always nice and moist. Pros: Excellent food! Nice setting. Friendly staff. Cons: Rather expensive. Service sometimes a bit slow. more

Slow service, great food 8/29/2007

My wife and I went there last friday night. This was the same day they got their review in the Seattle Times. We were seated outside. It was our second time at this restaurant and we enjoyed the food very much the last time. Pros: Ambience, music, food(except the pizza) Cons: Very slow service more

Marcellos is an absolute gem! As a chef and restaurateur myself, I rarely eat out and seldom get wowed when I do. It?s nice to have found a place with good food, good atmosphere, and good service. What?s more is that the cuisine is all authentically inspired while keeping taste and presentation new and inventive. So if you aren?t looking to drop a fortune at Cafe Juanita or drive all the way up to Vancouver?s Caffe de Medici for exceptional Italian, head here. It?s a truly great find. If you want to feel like you?re dining in Italy, try Marcello?s on Roosevelt. It could be the Italian owners, or more likely their commitment to creating meals of perfection. good entres, poor salads/appetizers and prices much too high 3/11/2007

Great entres, but the salads are very poor quality and everything is vastly over-priced. The place is usually always very empty or very full, depending on holidays, etc. Their existence must depend on quite wealthy clientele. Pros: entres Cons: salads, appetizers, PRICE more

A Hidden Italian Gem! 2/1/2007

Marcello's is our favorite authentic Italian restaurant in Seattle. It is owned by a small family and they have sumptuous dinners and excellent wine, all reasonably priced for the quality of food. My husband and I go there when we want to treat ourselves and we always enjoy it. Getting a table can be tricky on a weekend night and the reservations aren't always the most consistent - but considering it's a small family business and the value, it's worth the wait or small inconvenience if they do mess up your reservation. The most we've waited is 15 minutes for a table -- and the reason why there is a wait is because the food is good and the restaurant is full! I would highly recommend this place for an enjoyable evening with friends, a first date, or just a night out with your sweetheart. Pros: Authentic Italian food, ambience, romantic Cons: Parking more

Very nice italian meal to share with friends 8/6/2006

Great authentic italian food. The Pollo Lemone with potatoes and fresh sauted spinach was excellent. Actually it was on the menu as veal, but they were very willing to modify it for me to use chicken instead. The olive oil and bread disappeared quickly (it was good). I finished the meal with a shared frozen lemon sorbet served in a lemon rind... and the best espresso. The service was good. The specials were interesting. I will return! Pros: Nice seats near the central fireplace Cons: Clean up the exterior. A bit noisy so don't bring kids which justs makes is louder. more

One good entree, one bad 7/19/2006

My girlfriend and I decided to give Marcello's a try. Overall, we had a good dinner. The olive oil served with bread was really good, and we got free salads (although with too much dressing) with our meals. I can't remember the names of the entrees we ordered, but one of them was really good, while the other was terrible. The good one was penne in a cheesy tomato sauce with eggplant. The only thing that could have made it better was more eggplant. The other entree was maybe spaghetti tossed with sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and basil. For some reason, it had a very smoky flavor that basically covered up all the other flavors. Even the sun-dried tomatoes were hard to enjoy with the smoky undertone. Maybe it was an unlucky fluke? more

excellent Italian restaurant near Green Lake 7/12/2006

Marcello's has changed ownership; older reviews are no longer valid. The Marcello's today (July 2006) is an excellent Italian restaurant near Green Lake: superb food, a very good (& very reasonably priced) wine list, a comfortable & elegant dining room with a charming outdoor area (when the weather is nice), professional & friendly service. Anybody in NE Seattle who likes Italian food should give Marcello's a try; you'll be glad you did! My wife and I have tried all the Italian restaurants in NE Seattle, and Marcello's is our favorite. Pros: good food, good wine, a nice place to eat Cons: I can't think of any. more

Absolutely terrible customer service 2/15/2006

We had a reservation and arrived on time, but we waited in line for 15 minutes before our presence was even acknowledged. Then they couldn't find our reservation, so we were told we would have to wait till they could ""work us in."" There was an empty table, but they said we couldn't have it--it was ""reserved."" They never acknowledged that they had made a mistake and lost our reservation--even though they had also lost the reservation of the couple ahead of us in line. They treated us as though we had dropped in without a reservation. We left and will not go back. There are other equally good Italian restaurants in the area that know how to treat their customers. more

My husband and I have lived in the same block as Marcello's for over a year. It's a wonderful place with great food, though I can only comment on the vegetarian selections. Marcello is wonderful as is the rest of the staff--very friendly and welcoming every time. And save room for the tiramisu. Since I have had it, no other tiramisu around town has been satisfying... more
