A REAL sit-down Filipino restaurant in Seattle. 12/29/2006

At least here at Manila Bay, you can eat Filipino food that hasn't been sitting on a steam table. They cook it when you order it so don't be surprised if it actually tastes good. Hey Filipinos, have you ever wanted to share our cuisine with ones that haven't had a chance to go to a Filipino party yet? At least here at Manila Bay you can discard all the ""point point"" meanderings and let the waitress and chef do all the work. If that's not a step above MOST other Filipino restaurants in the area, then I don't know what is. Those Aunties can be very rude if you know what I mean, especially if you are an American born Filipino that doesn't speak the language well. \r \r Did I mention it's CLOSE to the stadiums?\r \r \r \r If you're looking for TRADITIONAL Filipino food offerings, Manila Bay has that in spades. Most Filipinos I know always have a spot for their Mom's cooking but ordering it from Manila Bay doesn't mean you're a sellout to your family. No, it's called ""eating home cooked Filipino food without feeling guilty your Mom spent time in the kitchen just so you could eat adobo and rice"". Here's to Manila Bay. Make it authentic and toast with a bottle of San Miguel. \r \r What? You're kidding right. Yes, a full-service bar that actually carries the best beer, albeit the import version. \r \r There's also free parking after 6pm. Where else can you find that in downtown?\r \r The only downside is that it doesn't look like your Mom's dinner table. The ambiance is strictly meant for festive occasions (dancing, partying) complete with a heavy duty floor paired with a dance floor. \r \r The lounge area, though, is comfy and inviting to just hang out in. During the summers, I believe they open the glass windows making it much more alluring from across the street. Pros: Filipino food done right Cons: Not very romantic more
