Pepperoni Rolls!!!!!! 4/11/2006

Whenever we visit the strip our last stop of the day is always Mancini's. We stop in and get a couple of pepperoni rolls and usually something else as well. The place smells so good you just can't resist it. They have some of the best bread we have had. I think this must be our new ritual when we are on the strip. You can't leave without trying something. more

Mancini's Bakery 3/27/2006

This is a true Pittsburgh tradition. You can get Mancini’s breads in your local grocery stores and some restaurants around town, but make the special trip to McKees Rocks and pick up a loaf fresh out of the oven. They have your basic standard fare like rolls, buns and regular bread loaves, but have become trendier with things like focaccia. Try their twists (hot, please) and raisin bread. I like to buy a bag of dough and take it home to make calzones. Delicious! Expect to wait in line for your order, and the parking situation can be annoying, but it’s worth the trip. more

It's like watching dough rise 3/10/2006

Mancini's Bread is a Pittsburgh legend. Although I had never heard of it before visiting the Strip with my wife and her parents, I now realize why it's such a staple in Pittsburgh cuisine. The bakery is so popular that we got our third choice of bread by the time we arrived (around noon). Everything else was sold! You'll find Mancini's bread on the famous Primanti Brothers' sandwiches just a few blocks away. more

Best Bread Around 2/18/2006

Mancini's Bakery located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh is by far the best smelling and tasting bread in the city. when you walk into their small bakery, you are overwhelmed by the smells and views of every kind of baked bread imaginable. The breads are made on-sight. Get there early as they usually sell out by mid afternoon. Different shapes, sizes, and flavors abound. But a coffee there also, and enjoy smaller bread and pastries right out of the ovens. Local grocery stores buy their bread wholesale, and sell it themselves. Even some of the sandwiche shops advertise their sandwiches as "served on Mancini Bread". That in itself is quite a tribute to this store. more

Best Bread in the Burgh 2/16/2006

Mancini's is perhaps the best bread I've ever had. Their bakery in heart of the Strip is packed on the weekends; don't expect to get a loaf unless you're there early. Their traditional Italian bread is light, delicious, and addicting. This bread alone is worth breaking your South Beach or Atkins diet. The bread is available in many area grocery stores, but nothing beats getting still warm from the oven. more

The best bread in the world! 8/30/2005

This is the place to go for fresh bread. Great variety: Italian (the twist is my favorite), cinnamon raisin, hoagie rolls, buns, low-carb, egg bread, etc. Their breads are perfect for any meal, or to just eat as a snack! When warm and slathered w/ butter, it melts in your mouth! Check their website for a detailed list of their hours of operation. more
