The last time I paid for a haircut was at Mae's. Make no mistake, this is a neighborhood barbershop. What that means is that she's not the best barber in the world, but we go back because of the laid-back atmosphere. Don't go here if you're in a rush, go here when you want to read the newspaper for a bit before reading it a bit more in the barber chair. Mae is truly personable and she remembers her regulars. For a while, I went in just so we could ramble on and on about random crap together. After the first couple times I came here, it was more just to ramble and I really didn't care what the haircut looked like. One thing though, it's good to know what you want and not mess around, because if you waste her time trying to find out what looks good on you she might get a little testy. Tip her well, she's got kids.
