My granddaughter had a maid of honor dress custom-made in Millburn. The dress and workmanship were horrible. On Tuesday my granddaughter and I took the dress to Mademoiselle. Mitchell helped us pick out a gorgeous dress that they customized in two days. His warmth and professionalism put a smile back on our faces. Chloe will look gorgeous at the wedding on Sunday. more


Please do not go to Mademoiselle for any occasion. The owner (Mitchell) was rude to work with and has a huge chip on his shoulder, not to mention the fact that he doesn't know how to use a tape measure!! I was measured for a bridesmaid dress in september, and just recently picked it up. Upon picking up my dress I was told by Mitchell that I owed $25 extra dollars because he had to order a size 18. I was pissed!!!!! I am not a small girl, but I also know I am not a size 18 dress. He then went on to tell me that sizes 18-22 are $25 extra and sizes 24 and up are an extra $50. He also went on to tell me the size of another girl in the bridal party, and that she needed a 26; which I thought was extremely rude!!! So I paid the extra $25 and went home. Well, not to my surprise, the dress is at least 2 sizes too big!!!\r I checked what my weight was in september and compared it to my weight now; only 4 lbs lighter........not enough to drop me 2 dress sizes. I am so upset because now I have to put money out for alterations, and I was also charged, what I feel, was $25 for no reason. I feel that I was measured improperly and sized for an 18 just so Mitchell can make an extra $25. So I called Mitchell and he was an A**HOLE!!!!! He kept saying that the hips and chest may be out or proportion or that I must've lost weight. He didn't want to hear anything I had to say. I asked for the $25 refund and he refused. So..........I would NOT recommend Mademoiselle to anyone. The ownder is a pompous a**hole, his dresses are overpriced, he is rude and he doesn't know how to take measurements. \r \r This is my first time reviewing anything online. I am just very upset with all of this that I wanted to share my experience and make sure everyone knows what this place is all about. more

HORRIFIC 3/4/2011

Well I had the horrific experience of meeting the owner at this establishment. I was looking at bridesmaid dresses with my best friend for her wedding. He proceeded to follow us around and take dresses out of our hands saying that they were not available for purchase. Note to owner take down the dresses that are out of season and not available. While this is not that big of deal please read on.... \r \r I began to try on the few dresses that were in season and available and when I came out of the dressing room in the final dress Ihe came running up to me in front of many on looking clients and grabbed my arm and told me to get out of the dress ASAP. He also told me that he should have assessed my size prior to letting me try on dresses. As I stood there completely and utterly shocked he kept proceeding to tell me to get out of the dress right away and don't break the zipper. He stated that he can't have people try on the dresses that do not fit them cause he would have to pay for a new sample. Now let's take note that I am a size 4/6. (not large at all) \r \r He was COMPLETELY rude, obnoxious and out of line. \r \r I will tell EVERYONE of my friends and family to never step into this store ever!!!!!!! more

Wonderful wonderful experience 12/14/2010

This has been the second time the three ladies of my household have returned to this magnificent store and received the most professional treatment in this industry! My two daughters got fitted with their totally stunning dresses and shoes to match and my wife had her outfit picked out exclusively by Mitchell with amazing results. The detail in color, coordination, style and fit made these three women look AWESOME! Mitchell was a TRUE businessman in EVERY detail. Mitchell treated us with the time and dedication every customer deserves. His unique sense of humor and pazzaaz made this experience that much more exciting! My compliments to this fine establishment in such a wonderful town. I highly recommend this clothing establishment to anyone who really wants to complete their special occasion! Thank you Mitchell for making our special occasion that much more fulfilling. more


The wedding went great and the compliments on the bride and bridesmaid's dresses were amazing. The alterations were more than perfect and at a very reasonable cost. The bride looked beautiful. Thanks to Mitchell and his good taste the bridesmaid's dresses couldn't be nicer. The style, the fit, the color, the perfectly matched shoes were just the thing to round out this very special day. Mitchell treated us like family and we want him to know that we appreciated his patience, his input and the time he spent with us. This is not the first experience we have had with Mademoiselle.....they were there for us when my older daughter married and the service was great. To anyone looking for someone to take a personal interest in your selection(s) for any special occasion, that someone would be Mitchell and his wonderful staff at Mademoiselle. more

Excellent Customer Service and Quality Products 9/22/2010

I'm a repeat Mademoiselle customer. In 2004, I selected to use Mademoiselle for my bridesmaid and maid of honor dresses. When my sister got engage in 2009, I knew she must use Mademoiselle for her gown and the bridesmaid dresses. Therefore, we scheduled an appointment to meet with the store owner Mitchell. He was extremelly helpful and accomodating. He provided excellent insights to my sister in her gown selection. We worked closely together in selecting bridemaid dresses that enhanced all members of the wedding party. On September 18, 2010, my sister got married and simply looked stunning wearing her Mademoiselle gown. I highly recommend this store to others seeking a professional, caring and knowledge staff. more

Bad Attitude and Uncompromising Service 9/6/2010

I went into Mademoiselle for alterations on my wedding dress and was greeted by the charming Mitchell. At first things were great. The alterations went well if not for a little expensive. Together, Mitchell and I picked out a pair of 'Dyeables' shoes that were available in the store. However, not in my size. An order was placed for these shoes but were not yet purchased. He charges for the dye...which at any other bridal/dress boutique that I've since checked...the price to dye is complimentary. \r \r Fast forward 10 days, I had been mulling over the cost of these shoes. The shoes, the dye, the cost of the expensive alteration fees and overpriced bra padding...the entire cost for these things would be MORE than what I had paid for the dress. I wasn't really comfortable with the shoes...I still had NOT paid for them. Meanwhile, I found a great pair of shoes while shopping with a friend. I fell in love with these and decided against the 'Dyeables,' that still had NOT been purchased. In short, I just wasn't comfortable dropping that money for a pair of shoes I no longer wanted. \r \r I immediately called Mitchell to let him know I was no longer interested in these shoes. I was shocked at his response. Like a child throwing a tantrum, he kept repeating, ""They've been special ordered, can't do it."" Let me remind you, these are shoes carried in the store. Normal wedding shoes..not dyed electric blue...but IVORY. They simply didn't have them in my size. When I said that I'd pay for everything except the shoes, he threatened to KEEP my dress. (This is a dress that I purchased while visiting home in SC.) I couldn't believe he was resorting to illegal levels over a $100 pair of shoes that I had NEVER even purchased! I was so upset that my friend had to take over the phone conversation in which he ended it by hanging up the phone on her. \r \r This was all so childish and he was reacting in such a dramatic way. The same friend who lives in Westfield, volunteered to pick up the dress as I live in upstate NY. She arrived at the store first thing in the morning so as not to interrupt his business. She told him that she was there to pick up the dress and that she had the cash for it, but wasn't purchasing the shoes. He ended up kicking her out of the store and locking the door. At that point, she called me very upset. Rather than risk damage to my dress or further crazy behavior, I told her to give him the cash for the shoes and get out of there. \r \r Let me also add, that he told her that they were being recorded in the store and the phone conversations as well. I HOPE our phone conversations were recorded. I HOPE the whole store incidence was recorded. My friend nor myself have never been treated in such a disgusting way.\r \r In short, we're two southern girls who are soft spoken and were taken advantage of. I'm shocked and appalled at Mitchell's childish behavior. \r \r I would highly recommend you NOT use Mademoiselle due to his horrible customer service. Heaven forbid you have to return something, as the other negative review mentioned. He is charming up until you mess with his cash. Money first, customer satisfaction second. \r \r Horrible experience before my wedding. more

RIPPED OFF 8/7/2009

the sales guy (owner) is taking your money. my daughter ordered a jovani dress from a catalog and when it came, the color was off, the material was cheap and the workmanship was shoddy. the owner would not refund her $450 she paid for a jovani dress. (by the way, i tried contacting jovani in ny, no response. thats the last time we order anything from them too!!)\r $450 for a dress she could not wear. she wound up paying for another dress she bought online which was absolutely beautiful. i think mademoiselle is selling knockoffs to unsuspecting young women and he SHOULD BE STOPPED!! Cons: dont buy from a catalog or this shop more

Beautiful Dresses for Bridesmaids/Mother-of-Bride 7/7/2008

I'm getting married at the end of the month, and all of my bridesmaids plus my mother are wearing dresses from Mademoiselle. I went to several stores before hitting up this cute boutique in downtown Westfield, but I should have come here first. They have the best selection of gorgeous dresses and personal service. Make an appointment for the most personalized attention from the owner. The owner, Mitch, has excellent taste and is very helpful in picking out the perfect dress for the occasion. Designer dresses and alterations are reasonably priced. They also carry a wide selection of dress shoes. I've referred family members and friends alike to Mademoiselle. I can't wait to see how beautiful the dresses look on everyone on my wedding day! Pros: Selection, service, nice location, reasonable prices more

Great woman's clothing store in NJ 7/6/2008

I was there with wife and daughter. Mitch, the owner, was a very charismatic fellow and his place had many name brand designers from which to select. Not only were his prices more than reasonable but they do alterations on-site and at a very competitive price. That was my first experience at Mademoiselle and it was apparent from other customers there that they were all on a first name for a reason-all seemed to be treated well and were repeat customers. My experience was so positive I thought I would share it here. In so doing I noticed one negative review and, frankly, it sounds like a lot of projection. I highly recommend Mademoiselle. Pros: Great prices, selection & service Cons: Only one location more
