My favorite place in Vegas... 6/16/2006

This is the only casino/hotel I can stand. The rest I think are unimaginative and corny. This hotel is at least CLEAN and has a very nice inside. I love the statues and the whole theme going on. What I also like about it, is that the theme can be seen in all of the shops and not just in some places like Circus Circus. more

One of the lower-end Mega Resorts 6/12/2006

This property is a little shabby in comparison to others in Las Vegas, especially other strip properties. The pyramid is very cool to be inside, and there are some cool egyptian themes throughout the area, but the hotel areas (at least those inside the pyramid) seem very dated, and awefully dark. I was also not very impressed with the overall casino floor layout. There is a shuttle to and from the Excalibur and The Mandalay Bay that connect the Luxor. It is worth a visit if you have never seen it, but I'm not sure if I would stay here. more

Luxor 6/3/2006

I was really excited at the prospect of staying at a place that would look like Egypt. When my husband and I first walked in, it was awe-inspiring - huge ceilings, marble floors, Egyptian statues...then someone asked if we were checking in and when we replied, "yes" we got shoved over to a counter where they were offering free show tickets, if we'd sit through 2 - 3 hours of a timeshare presentation during our stay. This hotel is CRAWLING with these timeshare people from Glenview, RUN don't walk away from them - we felt attacked every time we were in the lobby, once even in the casino! Apart from that - worst hotel feature is that the hotel rooms are paper thin, you hear EVERYTHING next door. Otherwise, they have an enormous buffet in the lobby for every meal, very reasonably priced, and the little restaurant in the lobby isn't bad, either. There's an IMAX on the 2nd floor, and lots of stores selling Egyptian goods. I liked the hotel, but, after you see some on the other end of the strip, it pales in comparison. When we went, the hotel was home to Carrot Top, Blue Man Group moved to The Venetian. more

Luxor at Las Vegas 4/12/2006

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind hotel. With one of the hotel room towers in the shape of a pyramid, the windows of the room is slanted inwards. To get to the hotel rooms, you need a security code, which is great because it keeps unwanted thiefs out. The elevator in the pyramid tower is called an Inclinator because it actually moves diagnally due to the structure of the building and you can feel it moving diagnal--its awesome. The Luxor is also home to the Blue Man Group but we were not able to see them perform. more
