Worst.Hotel.EVER 12/2/2010

This is, hands down, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Two major issues: 1) They gave another group of people keys to our room after we had occupied it and did not offer any reparations. 2) Charged me $1,100 for a broken TV, then decided to notify me via snail mail after the fact. So the problems started before I even arrived. I was sharing the room with 3 other friends. One of them checked in before the rest of us. She had been in the room about a half hour when another group of people walked into the room. Turns out they had been given keys to our room by the guy working the front desk. Later when the rest of us arrived that evening and had learned what happened we went down to talk to the manager and while he seemed concerned he did not offer any sort of compensation for putting everything of ours at risk nor could he offer any assurance that this wouldn't happen again. On top of this the front desk clerk that both me and my friend had checking in was the biggest jerk I've ever encountered dealing with any customer service position. It was a really busy weekend and we must have all been inconveniencing him or something because he was visibly angry the entire time we were checking in. So.... reason #1 to not stay here.... Security is obviously very lax because irate employees really don't care if they're doing their job right. Reason #2.... NOTHING works in this hotel. Our air conditioner wasn't working so we called maintenance about it 4 times. The AC is wirelessly controlled via a thermostat in the room. After multiple attempts to fix the AC we were pretty sure it was the wireless connection and not the unit itself. However, the guys fixing it paid no attention to us and ended up replacing the unit. Which... guess what? Surprise surprise!! STILL DIDN'T WORK EVEN AFTER REPLACING IT! Oh did I mention that this was in the MIDDLE OF JULY!!? We finally figured out that we could kind of get it to work if we unplugged it and plugged it back in. Reason #3 kind of fits in with reason number two but goes a step further. About halfway into hotel stay the TV stopped working. At this point we were so frustrated after the whole AC incident that we decided that it wasn't worth it. We figured the hotel cable was down and since we weren't in our room much anyway why bother? WRONG About 3 weeks after my stay I received a letter in the mail stating that I will be charged $1,100 for a broken TV. WHAT.THE.HELL It gets better: The letter was sent a day AFTER my credit card was charged. I didn't receive the letter until 4 days after it was mailed. Also, the ""invoice"" that they sent me had incorrect dates for my stay. They never made any attempt to contact me by phone or email. BOTTOM LINE: This is a sleazy hotel that doesn't give a #*$^# about your security/privacy and will try to bleed every last dime out of you that they can. more
