Comfortable and excellent service 3/9/2012

I bought a groupon last year and just had an appointment with Grace. The salon is lovely, very low pressure and comfortable. Grace did an EXCELLENT job with my color and cut. I will definitely come back and I encourage you to check out Lush Salon. BTW the prices were a very pleasant surprise. I am used to spending a lot on my hair for the same quality of service. Lush is a great deal. more

Lovin' Lush 1/13/2011

I never really go to Bayridge for a cut and color but.....I was pleasantly surprised by Lush. When I arrived I was greeted by Eric, one of the owners of Lush. I filled out some info about myself and was happy to see a small menu of complimentary coffee attached to the clipboard, :) then, a super nice assistant brought me to the back where I had chance to speak with Eric about my haircolor, (he's also the colorist). We decided on my natural color for the time being, I was still a bit apprehensive about highlights we talked about. The color came out beautiful, nice and shiny, healthy, I really loved it but I was already onto my haircut by Helen when we noticed some grey hairs. I was upset and Eric said something about it but it was Helen who said to fix it, and he did very nicely I may add. Helen cut my hair beautifully, and she's such a sweetie, I will be going back! more

SO worth the trip 11/9/2010

Over the years, I've been a client at various upscale salons in both LA and Manhattan. I'd have one great experience but the subsequent visits were almost never consistent. That perfect cool blond the colorist achieved the first time, mysteriously turned into a brassy crayon yellow the next. So, when my publicist friend first started talking up this guy she'd met at a fashion show I was intrigued... until she told me he was in Bayridge. I mean who wants to travel all the way to Bayridge from Manhattan to get their hair done? However, after yet another disappointing appointment with a stylist who barely listened and a head of brassy, stripey highlights, I gave in. Walking in to Lush you are greeted by the serene environment of the best Manhattan salons, but the added bonus? The staff is actually friendly. The girl at the desk promptly whisked me into the back, offered me a drink and got me set up to meet my colorist Eric; with none of the ""I'm only speaking to you because I'm paid to"" attitude. A few minutes later, I met the man himself. Rather than immediately launching in to what he thought we should do (as had happened time and time before) Eric took the time to listen and repeat back what I wanted before offering a few ideas of his own to help really make the color pop. (Beige blond highlights with some lo lights painted in to even out the handy work of his predecessors.) Even though he'd put me at ease I was still prepared for another disappointment, I'd had stylists lull me into a false sense of security before. Eric worked carefully and methodically, taking care to avoid the chunky sections I dreaded all the while chatting away and making me feel as though I'd been a client for years. Once the color had set and his assistant had washed, conditioned and given me the most amazing shiatsu massage, it was time for the reveal. The color was so perfect I almost kissed him. For the next few weeks my girlfriends all commented on how great it looked, but I knew the true test would be the next visit. Could he deliver again? My next appointment started out with the same friendly greeting and another conversation about my expectations... and once again I left completely satisfied. Since I met Eric Thomas I have never received more compliments on the color and have even gotten a few of my friends to make the trek. Traveling from Manhattan to the depths of Brooklyn may seem crazy, but for the perfect highlights it is so so worth it. Trust me, just pack a book for the train ride and make your way to Lush, you will not be disappointed! more

Lush=Great People & Quality Service 10/25/2010

For starters, Lush has such an inviting atmosphere so from the moment you walk in, you feel at home. The staff is super friendly and immediately take your coat, offer you a beverage and even offer a free massage! the salon is well kept and very clean. (theres even a bar in the back if you want to sip some wine or have some coffee while getting primped!) more

Never looked better! 10/23/2010

From the moment I walked in I was treated like gold! My girl bought me a gift certificate for a cut and color after I started complaining about going a bit gray around the edges. I am so glad she did. Ask for Eric! He gave me a great cut, and even better color. No Joke, I look and feel ten years younger! Thanks Eric! more

Looking fabulous 10/15/2010

The moment you stepped into Lush you are greeted by a friendly staff and their professional hair colorists. I have been Sylvana customer for more than 10+ years and her technique on hilites and suggestion how to maintain it is amazing ( with all the color changes I had through the years, from red head to blonde like Shakira, my hair is still thick and shiny). more

Saved by Grace! 5/27/2010

Although I live in Manhattan, I never mind making the trek to Bayridge to have Sylvana (who is no longer there *tear*) or Grace take care of my hair. After trying several high-end salons in the city, all of which failed miserably, I branched out to the boroughs and found Lush. Pros: Quick, affordable, and incredible results Cons: In Brooklyn (sorry Brooklyn-ites!) more

I WILL GO BACK 3/22/2010

i was very happy with color and hair cut is what i showed my girl in a picture. and the people were so friendly. and now it so much better for me to get my hair done on sundays ask for Grace Pros: i can get my hair done on sundays Cons: didnt find any more

Never went back.. 2/2/2010

I had my highlights ruined at my usual place. I didn't feel like going back and dealing with the guy who did my hair or hearing him tell me how great it looked, like he did when I walked out, when it was horrid nor did I trust him. I looked at reviews and went to this place. The salon was totally empty and I had the owner charge me 60 dollars to put on a TONER..that's right not even a dye, over the highlights. All I wanted was my brown hair back, so at that point I didn't question him and let him do it. He put it on, walked away and I never saw him again lol. Great service. The toner washed out in a few weeks and I was left with brassy hair once again. I never went back needless to say. I have to add there is no lighting whatsoever in the place so how am I supposed to know what the color looks like? Cons: Overpriced and Bad Lighting more

Nothing to write home about. 7/4/2009

I went to Lush a few years ago. Completely overpriced for the quality and skill level of staff. Don?t waste your money. more

HELEN-great cut, perfect color 3/20/2009

Helen has been cutting my hair for a couple years now. I always come back! I have long curly hair with mixed texture and she does miracles with it. She has a great sense of shape/form for a person's face. I can go for months between cuts, the shape is so well balanced. I usually don't color, but wanted to for my sister's wedding. We talked about it and she got exactly the color I was thinking of on the first try! Plus it looked completely natural with my skin tone. THANKS HELEN! Pros: Helen for cut and color Cons: no American Express card more

GREAT PLACE!! 11/26/2008

I went to lush for the first time after reading this page, i finally love my hair!!! the place is so pretty and the girls are so sweet! thanks so much to my new hair dresser grace more

HUGE disappointment 10/9/2008

I am not a negative person ""looking to vent,"" rather I'm just a girl with an opinion. I went to Lush twice, both times my hair was done by Grace. The first time I went for a cut and color. The cut was OK but the color was horrible, it wasn't the shade I requested, many of my grey hairs weren't covered and the color washed out after just a month (about $140 for the cut & color). I was happy with the cut so the next time I went back, I decided to skip color. I had taken the time to explain to Grace what I wanted. The issue was more about the length than a specific cut or look. She repeated to me my request and I was satisfied that she understood what I was requesting. Once my hair was cut I was seriously upset. It was significantly shorter than I had requested, was she just not paying attention? Yes, the receptionists are friendly, and yes they offer you a complimentary beverage, but don't be fooled...this place isn't impressive where it counts- with the results. It's full of neighborhood women who have probably been coming to this place since it opened- so clearly the women of Bay Ridge are happy. It just didn't do it for me...I'll have to continue the search. Pros: friendly receptionist Cons: lacking (listening) skills more

go to Lush 9/20/2008

I recently moved from Bay Ridge to Manhattan and now I have to come all the way back just to have my hair done at Lush. It's annoying. But I really only trust Eric with my highlights and Grace and Helen with the cut. The last Manhattan lady I trusted with my hair made it actually look like hay. It was so bad I left work early. Helen immediately recognized the cut from the early 90's. She said it was called ""the christmas tree"" among hair style enthusiasts. Luckily, there was enough left to work with, so she somehow pulled off something very cute and updated, and Eric fixed the stripes the Manhattan lady left all over my head. And I got so many compliments! Even my boss liked my hair. I like Lush. Those other people are stupid. more

I'll never go anywhere else! 9/10/2008

I live in the neighborhood and have gone to several salons here. This place is, hands down, the best. First, when you call to make an appointment, the receptionists are always friendly and eager to help match you with the best stylist if it's your first time. When you arrive, you are greeted by smiles, great decor, and a complimentary refreshment. The stylists listen to what you want, and offer helpful suggestions if what you want might not work (they are trained professionals, after all). Whether I've gone in for a cut to help tame my once long, curly hair, or to get it all chopped off for a sleek new look, I've never walked out dissappointed. (Note: I've actually cried walking out of another salon, which will remain anonymous!). My stylist even said to come back the next day if I wasn't happy with my cut (my recent cut was a drastic change). This is what pros are supposed to do! If you are not happy, they will fix it... all you have to do is speak up. I am surprised by the negative posts left on here, as I have never been unsatisfied. Perhaps their whole story is not being told, or it's simply a character flaw. Regardless, don't be daunted by the negative souls out there looking to vent. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great prices, great service, great atmosphere. Who needs to go to the city? Pros: Friendly, personalized service, good prices, great results more

I've lived in Bay Ridge for over 3 years now and passed this place like a hundred times. I was previously going to a nearby salon until they completely screwed my color up. So....I decided to give Lush a try. I am soooo happy I did. Eric did my color and did an amazing job. What I liked about him most is that he LISTENED to me, unlike many other stylists. They even served me a delicious cappucino for free! I cant wait to go back. Pros: Professionalism, Talent, Decor more
