Dr. Luka, and in particular his daughter Dr. Leslie, are both great. They provide extremely affordable care to many pet owners who might otherwise not get the appropriate care for their pets. Make no mistake, the place is not glamorous, in fact, it's a bit rough. More importantly however, both Joseph and Leslie genuinely care about animals and do their best to find a solution that works for you. If you want a venue that looks a feels like a Michigan Avenue plastic surgery office and a doctor that "recommends" $2,000" procedures at every turn...then look elsewhere. Dr.Luke is evil he killed my 9 year old cat due to his negligence. my cat didn't have a blood test before giving him shots my cat had kidney disease the shots made him very sick and his kidney failed .I hope people read this before he kills another animal if you have your pat there run and get him stay away from Delta animal hospital or you will be sorry like I am now. I saw Dr. Luke and his daughter, Dr. Leslie, for my dogs' annual check up yesterday, and the experience reaffirmed why I have chosen them as my dog care providers. First, the vets and staff are very supportive with my dogs in their transition from waiting room to patient room. \r I really love that Dr. Leslie and her assistant are calm and gentle in their demeanor and provide comfort to my dogs during blood extraction and immunization procedures. The most important reason I continue bringing my dogs to Delta is because Dr. Luke and Dr. Leslie demonstrate true commitment to the well being of the animals they treat. more

Father/daughter team -- Dr. Luke and his daughter, Leslie are FANTASTIC! SOOOO friendly......VERY caring and listen to your concerns; they give great advice, are highly knowledgeable. They have been in business for 35 YEARS!! which says a LOT about this place! I used to live across the street from here......about 11 years ago and used to take my dog there....he had testicular cancer.......they made him comfortable for a while.........which i was VERY grateful for......... I'm now living quite close to Ukrainian Village now and HAD to keep bringing my babies back for vet service! It might not be ""fancy""...that's ok! It's the CARE that matters! and boy -- do they CARE! This is their passion -- to take care of animals and help those who are looking for ""lower cost"" care......... I am an EXTREME animal lover and would NOT go anyplace else!! THIS is my vet for life!! This vet is located in the trendy Ukrainian Village area.....it wasn't this trendy when i lived there 11 years ago! Dr Luke has maintained his presence in this neighborhood for 35 YEARS!! I had surgery done for My 9yr old german shepard. The tumor removed same day, took him home. Doing fine I had quote for same surgery at Banfield Animal Hospital priced double. I would recommend Vet, you need to research your pets symptoms before proceeding. Pros: Surgery Cons: Lack of people skills more

First off the place smells no worse than any other vet I have been to....and I've had several dogs and cats throughout my life. The place is small and not super modern but the service was good. Dr. Luka took care of my kitty I actually switched vets b/c the one I had previously couldn't diagnose him properly. So service was pretty good prices were pretty good I would recommend for common veterinary needs, however for more serious cases maybe not only because like I said not super modern or updated. more

my puppy was 3 months when she fractured her leg. i took her to dr.luka because he took walk ins. he took x-rays and said she had a slight fracture. he sent her home same day and just gave me some pills for the pain and said she'll be fine just rest. my puppy couldn't even walk and cried when she did try. i took her back for a check up because she was limping. he told me to put her down to walk and she actually walked fine because she knew where she was at and didnt want to stay. he said she needed surgey. was going to make the leg the same length, so the limping would stop. i left her in his hands but made a horrible mistake. my dog was dramatized when i picked her up. he didnt do nothing but opened her up, cut her nerve vein and closed her bak up. my poor baby leg is the sized of her puppy leg while other legs are well developed; her leg is shorter, muscles not developed and still limping . never again will take her there! more

After reading all the reviews, I took my two Coton De Tulear's to the doctor for basic immunizations today. I realized it was a family owned and run business, some bickering went on in office, true, not appropriate under most circumstances, but who cares. They charged exactly what was quoted, most vets try to sell,sell, sell more shots, meds, etc. They have the the shots that do not include the Lepto, which many dogs will have bad reactions to (do your research). I will be returning in October to have my boys teeth cleaned, I will follow up on the outcome of that. Pros: small family owned business Cons: very old smelly building more

My wife and I took our Doberman Pinscher to Dr. Luka to have a series of procedures performed after Dr. Luka guaranteed me an amazing price over the phone.\r \r We arrived as soon as they opened on Friday morning, and the place looked clean and smelled fresh. The doctors kept in contact with us throughout her stay to keep us updated on her condition throughout and after surgery, which was greatly appreciated.\r \r The next morning, we picked her up around noon. There were several other dogs either in surgery or in the kennels, and we did notice a smell only because the kennels are right next to everything. It's in the city though, so what do you expect?\r \r Our dog looks unbelievable. Surprisingly, when we picked her up, she didn't seem upset or distraught about her stay overnight, which is more than I can say for other places I've taken other animals to. The doctor gave us clear instructions on the proper care and maintenance of her incisions, and offered us deworming and recommended more

ZERO STARS!\r \r this place is HORRIFIC. I called earlier today to ask about getting some vaccination records faxed over, and the phone conversation i had was so rude and unprofessional i couldnt even belive that I was speaking to a real buisness. They answered the phone ""Hello? ....yea what do you want."" I asked for the records and was told that whoever I was speaking to didn't have the authority to use the fax machine. (what?????) I then asked to speak to someone who COULD use the fax, and was told whoever that was couldn't be there until next monday (this was a tuesday.) The rude, incompetent person then tried to tell me that the dogs didnt need the vaccinations i was asking for (because ""They already got da pillz. they dont need shotz they already on the heartgaurd pillz"") The fact that they dont heartworm test is a potentially fatal practice. I asked to speak to a manager, and he put me on the line with a veternarian who questioned why i even cared about a dogs vaccinations, and told me that the facility dosent even OWN a fax machine. I asked him his name, he got angry, and started screaming at me until i hung up. It was horrible. Anyone who takes their dog here has GOT to be crazy. How are they in buisness???? I recently received a dog that Dr. Luka did a health certificate for. The dog in question was a clear case of NEGLECT. He is a 70 pound dog and was gone from me for 6 months. In that time the dog lost 18 pounds and Dr. Luka of Delta Animal felt that this emaciated dog was safe to travel in temperatures of 25%. When called and questioned, he just attempted to rush me off the phone with no care what-so-ever for the dogs condition. more

Dr. Luke is arrogant, high minded and he does not like to get his hands dirty. My sweet dog needed help and he told me to do it myself. Then he said, take him to someone else. He's no good and I hope they shut him down! more

Yes it smells ripe and is not a modern glitzy vet office but I have been going to Delta for 15 years or more and have been always more than satisfied. My dog had a problem and I felt like the technology was not right to correct the issue. Went to another vet, got piles of medication, and a large bill but the problem did not go away. I went back to Delta and tried their simple, home remedy and the problem cleared up in a matter of days. When my dog was at the end of it's life they were honest and forthright. I again did not believe them and went to another vet. They said 'no worries', and charged me lots of money and gave me lots of pills. Delta was again right. The guy knows his stuff, is always available, fairly priced, and as honest as is humanly possible. My new dog is his patient and I have no hesitations about recommending Delta to anyone. I took my dog in for a minor operation - sore that was infected had to be removed. He advise me that one of his testicle was in his stomach and had to be removed or he would go blind. So he preceded with the operation and sure enough my dog went blind. Prior to my dog going fully blind, I asked him is there something we could do. His reply was "PUT HIM TO SLEEP". more

All i have to say is that if you need a vet.this guy is not the on.He gives bad info and advise his practice is dirty and he does not care about your pet.Dr.luke did not test my dog when i needed help but instead he told me my dog had bad cancer and she would only live 2 more months,after taking my dog to a real vet and after a complete checkup,results no cancer just bacteria.Which if i would of listend to dr.luke and made the choice to put my dog down because he with out checking told me she was dying.Don't take your pets there if you care about them (cats,dogs,birds,what ever you got!!). more

OK, the office is dated and the smell is a little bad but not no different from many other vet office I've been to. I bring my dogs to Dr.Luka for all my minor pet medical needs. I been to the back of the facility and it is very clean. He has provided great care for my pets. You can negotiate a price with him. People, think about all those animal lovers that can't afford more expensive vets. Looks and smells are not everything!! The staff does care. He needs to update his facility, I agree. I recommend him to many lower economic pet owners. It's better than no care at all!! The reviewer with the terminally ill pet, I'm so sorry for your lost! I can't imagine. more

I went to Delta who gave a cursory look, diagnosed gingivitis put her under and cleaned the teeth and I left thinking I got a good deal at 150 dollars. A week or so later she still wasn't eating so I took her back and he acted like he barely remembered and looked at her again, gave her a tiny bit of water in an IV and a shot of B12 for appetite and sent me on my way. Went back again a month later due to further deterioration of cat's condition and the vet could hardly decipher his own scribbled notes on a card and I had to remind him of everything. I pointed out that her mouth wouldn't open or close all the way, the drooling, swollen lymph gland on one side inability to meow anymore etc and he just gave me a blank look and made no comment as if he wasn't really paying attention. He took another cursory look said the gingivitis was back - jab more

A week or so later she still wasn't eating so I took her back and he acted like he barely remembered and looked at her again, gave her a tiny bit of water in an IV and a shot of B12 for appetite and sent me on my way. Went back again a month later due to further deterioration of cat's condition and the vet could hardly decipher his own scribbled notes on a card and I had to remind him of everything. He took another cursory look said the gingivitis was back - jabbed a needle of antibiotics into my cat's rump making her scream, recommended more antibiotics ""until it goes away"" and sent me on my way again. At this point I started to wise up and the next day took her to Mid North Animal Hospital - a real vet for a change. Five - ten minutes into a very thorough and gentle examination the vet sympathetically broke the news that my cat has fairly advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the jaw. She has maybe 2 more months if lucky. I think it's time for Delta to hang it up. Cons: many more

If EVERYONE is complaining about this clinic, Has anyone reported this hospitals health issues?? Or is everyone going to keep letting people like me go there and let more pets be put in these hazzard situations?? I am surprised about the women who even LET that doctor put that thermometer in her cat, I would have told him were to stick it and it would not be in my cat!! I am so happy I read reviews it pays. Please one of you people who have been there need to go get pics and bring this person's place out in the open So, no other animals get in harms way. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. more
