Nice atmosphere, however, the food came out cool to cold. Our waiter was ok at first but by the time we were ready for coffee and to look at the desert menu...you could tell all...

very disappointing 3/21/2010

Nice atmosphere, however, the food came out cool to cold. Our waiter was ok at first but by the time we were ready for coffee and to look at the desert menu...you could tell all he wanted to do was close out our table. Wouldn't ask you if you wanted a warm up on your coffee or after dinner drink. \r Our group decided to go to the bar (a party of 10 people). It was about an hour before they were to close, however, the staff had decided they wanted to go home and started carrying on their private conversation with each other and total ignoring us. It would have been impossible to request a drink with out becoming very loud...which we decided not to do.\r Lucianos could have been a wonderful experience...but definitely was not due to the attitude of the staff. What a shame...\r Oh, the car valet person was very helpful and friendly...maybe they should hire him to take care of everything else....\r \r Dissapointed in what could be a great restaurant.. Pros: nice astmosphere Cons: poor service and cold food more

Highly Overrated 5/24/2008

Very disappointing. The waiter was arrogant and couldn't even pronounce ""aioli"" from the night's specials. He was aloof and very absent. We had to ask for bread plates from the bus boy, who had much better manners than any of the wait staff we encountered. We asked if a drink or two could be recommended by the bar staff using specific drink elements, and instead of sending over the bartender or coming back with suggestions for us to choose from, our waiter arrived with some sort of concoction which he said that the bartender made up ""on the fly"". When we asked what was is in it, he said he ""wasn't sure"", that he had ""stopped listening after the first couple things the bartender said"". He then shrugged, turned, and walked away. \r \r ??\r \r We ordered appetizers, salad/soup, & entrees. The bruschetta appetizer was missing basil. The lump crab salad left such a bitter taste in our mouths after a couple of bites, we left it be. The chicken risotto tasted like the bottom of a shoe, putting it nicely. But the waiter's response when we hadn't eaten any was that ""the saffron in the dish was probably too sophisticated of a taste for us""...what an insult! We would have stayed for dessert, but quite frankly, we couldn't stand another minute of the atmosphere. \r \r The restaurant wasn't due to close for another hour, but yet wait staff were hanging out in the bar area being quite disruptive, talking on cell phones, changing out of their work attire and yelling things across the restaurant to one another as if everyone had already left. But yet, two tables of paying customers remained - two tables who would have gladly ordered after dinner drinks and desserts under normal circumstances, had the wait staff and environment been even close to tasteful. \r \r I would NOT recommend this for a night out with anyone you're not already married to. It would have ruined any date, which is a shame, since we had picked it for it's romantic reputation to celebrate our anniversary. Pros: Valet Staff very pleasant, nice patio Cons: Arrogant and absent wait staff, food not so great more

couldn't be more pleasant; luciano's makes it look easy... 2/8/2007

had a great business lunch today! i was the guest, so i can't comment on prices, but it seems to me my soup and sandwich = $12 or so. excellent spinach and mushroom soup, creamy and consistent, filled with chopped spinach and mushroom pieces. tuna sandwich, just right and very tasty w/ nice light sauce and real potato fries w/ the skin still on them. waitress was very pleasant college student, not too present but there when she needed to be - nice attitude and even smiled at our attempt at jokes w/ her. atmosphere superb! dining room was near full, appeared very prosperous, but not too noisy. isn't it nice to dine in clayton, the old fashioned way? i'll be back often, but of course, i only live 4 blocks away... Pros: service, dining room atmosphere, tasty food - and not too much... Cons: parking, but hey! it's clayton, pal... more

Love It! 3/15/2006

We had dinner at Luciano's last night, I had forgotten how wonderful the food is. The fettucine was out of this world and my husbands tuna was done perfectly. I can't wait to go back! more

The Best Ever 3/10/2006

Our experience was wonderful-from our cocktails at the bar followed by an excellent dinner (I tryed the tasting menu for the first time). The service was great-even though we weren't celebrating a special occasion it turned out to be one. more

Bad Experience 1/26/2006

From the moment we walked in, we received bad service. After waiting almost ten minutes for someone to acknowledge us, once we were taken to a table, our lunch did not improve. Our waitor only came to our table to take our order and then later to bring our lunches, which were not very good. I don't recommend Luciano's. Pros: Spacious Cons: NO PARKING, Bad Service more

Good time, great food 12/8/2005

The grouper was delicious. The bar had a good atmosphere for mingling. Bartenders were great. Good wine. more

sadly disappointed 12/3/2005

I dined at Luciano's this weekend with a large group and was dissatisfied with all aspects of service. The salad was fine, but things went downhill from there. The risotto was not fully cooked and somewhat runny. My main course was cold with sparse vegetables, and the fish served was not the fish ordered. Pros: Decor Cons: Noisy more

fabulous food 2/1/2003

I enjoyed my dinner from start to finish. I started with an arugala salad, then moved on to the rustida, and finished with an amazing dessert. The wine list gave me a lot to choose from at every price range. more

trendy, upscale restaurant 9/20/2002

We went for a large party of 20, and they accomodated all of us better than could have been expected. Food and service were great, and a relatively good value. The staff was very patient and helpful with our large group. I would recommend it to most anyone. more
