What can you say about the low brow but ultimate dive bar! It's full of people, beer, fried food and smoke. These are the reasons we love it! The staff is great and the pups and ...

Worst

07/17/05 - The Low Brow Lounge used to be an unassuming cheap place to have some beers and hot dogs. A nice little dive with no attitude. Everyone welcome as long as they can pay....

Try the blue balls! 2/8/2011

this is a fun dive-ish bar. it has a great atmosphere, local art, great burgers, stiff drinks, great beer specials and an awesome late night food menu. service can be slow when you want your check. the staff is friendly. more

Low Class... 6/29/2010

Used to be a decent place to wind down...A long, long time ago, in a far, far away dream.\r \r To say the service is poor would be a compliment.\r \r ""Dive bars"" are supposed to be nice for their local feel and charm. The Low Brow is now anything but. Pros: I didn't see random sharp objects lying around Cons: Staff... more

WORST SERVICE EVER! 6/19/2010

WE WAITED OVER TWO HOURS FOR CHICKEN STRIPS! We stopped in for ONE drink and a quick bite so we closed out our tab right away. Then after 45 minutes we wanted another drink because our food wasn't there yet. They wouldn't let us run our card again, so we sat and waited and waited and waited some more. We asked our server twice about it. And over two hours later when our food finally arrived our server was a complete dick about it. I have been in this industry for years and am very forgiving of busy times, mistakes and long ticket times but this was by far my worst experience anywhere. Then when I confronted the server he had an attitude and didn't do anything to compensate us for our two wasted hours on a saturday night. He let me know that ""we don't do that at the lowbrow"" I manage a restaurant currently and if a customer came in and received this kind of (or lack of ) service they would receive some kind of compensation at the very least. Then to make the whole night better, when we finally were leaving, the incompetent server was smoking outside talking crap about us. Really? Really? Can you still be employed and be such a douche? I will never ever waste a dime of my money on such a ridiculous establishment and I encourage you to do the same Bottom line: You would get better service (and food) at a food bank. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

disappointed 6/9/2010

Having been in bars since I was 16 I have experience to know. These people have attitude beyond the typical dive bar patrons attitude. It really seems to be the attitude of deeply disappointed ands sad people. With all the bars being run by decent people in the neighborhood, give someone more worthy your money. Cons: surprisingly rude more

Terrible bar 12/20/2009

The bar is awful. Stay away. Service is bad, the dish ware including glasses are dirty, bartenders are complete jerks, the list goes on. I will NEVER go back to Low Brow. Pros: location Cons: bad food, bad service, rude owner, dirty dishware, bathrroms more

Always my last stop 11/2/2007

Drinks are expensive for a ""dive bar"" but us girls always love to go after we are already wasted. \r Mini corn dogs french fries and a bucket of ranch. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Dont stay for too long or you may get lung cancer. Love the decor as well. Pros: Cheap food and cool atmosphere Cons: smokey but what dive isnt? more

No more.... 8/3/2007

Third strike?. You are out!\r \r So, I can remember the day when the Low Brow Lounge was ?Keeping the Pearl Real?, after tonight I have had it. No kidding, over the past month (3 times) I have been treated not so good (I guees the word I am looking for is poo) there and will never go back. So, I know I have some obnoxious friends, but after a evening where most of us have been greeting a crowd in a non drinking environment (first Thursday), we (being 6 peep?s) where yelled at by a female owner for questioning if something (of all things food) had actually been delivered/charged to us. I feel bad for the servers because it was obviously under staffed. My question is why take it off on patrons that have supported your business since the time you broke away from the ?brothers?? \r At first my friends where harassed by her, but when I tried to pull her aside and ask her then explain the issue at hand, she at first said that some of us could stay but then changed her mind mid sentence and proceeded to kick the rest of us out. \r \r So, I guess if you question your bill, you are automatically kicked out of the Brow. \r Again I must stress that the staff at the ?Brow? was nothing but courteous, but this lady was a total?.ya, I will leave that up to you. Warning? question your bill and you will get kicked out of the Low Brow!\r \r Wow? I have been in pdx for 11 years and have never been treated the way I was treated tonight. I actually felt like I was in the Pearl and not Portland. In all honesty I hope that something changes and you (yes, you Low Brow) become what you used to be. \r \r I calling you out Low Brow Lounge! If Its one of those things where you would like to cater to those people in the pearl then please let the rest of us know? I am sure that there is a bar on the other side of 405 that would appreciate the business?.\r \r Let Portland know? are you really catering to us, or just you rich neighbors? Pros: The service Cons: The crazy owner lady more

Psycho owner 3/12/2007

Don't stand outside for a cab or the owner will yell at you. Not kidding! Apparently more concerned with the loft purchasers across the street than his own patrons. We moved down the block and he yelled again?! Who does that? To a handful of 30 something females-- cause we were so out of hand? Hardly. It was odd and scary. Pros: Cheap drinks Cons: The atmosphere and staff more

the truth 1/13/2007

the bar is solid, as is the fare. the crowd is fine as well. the smoke, well welcome to a dive bar people, that's how it works. but the attitude from the bar staff is what kills this place and if you don't notice the angry outbursts over . . . who knows, then you're either too loaded or just oblivious. the staff at the bar are class A Norris Division fcuk sticks. don't try to argue and don't over tip- why the hell would you? besides that, have a great time and enjoy the High Life in a bottle! more

Stylish Dive Done Right 12/12/2006

Casual in a non casual area. Drinks were good enough for me. Tatertots tasty and cheap. I'll be back. Nuff said. Pros: fry-tastic bar food. good drinks. no stress atmosphere Cons: lung cancer more

Bonified Attempt to be Trendily Non-Trendy? Expensive Drinks Limited Selection 11/12/2006

I've never actually seen a place try so hard to appear to be somewhere it's not. Lot's of people wearing $100 t-shirts attempting to look ""low brow"". I came here expecting cheap drinks and I was wrong, $14.50 for two drinks is pretty steep when I can get the same two drinks down the road at a trendy pearl bar for $9.00. Worse yet, the place was full of smoke and my friend lit up a clove cigarette. He was told to put it out! Apparently they're not allowed in there, but there was no sign stating this. We went to the corner, finished our drinks and headed out to one of those trendy ""high brow"" bars with lower prices and less pretentious people. Pros: Different From the Other Bars Cons: Pricey Drinks, Fake Scene, Very Trendy more

Best Dive Bar 10/29/2006

What can you say about the low brow but ultimate dive bar! It's full of people, beer, fried food and smoke. These are the reasons we love it! The staff is great and the pups and tots are the best in town. If you love a good dive bar you will fall in love with the Low Brow!!!! more

Old Dive becomes New Dive. I miss the Old Dive. 7/16/2005

07/17/05 - The Low Brow Lounge used to be an unassuming cheap place to have some beers and hot dogs. A nice little dive with no attitude. Everyone welcome as long as they can pay. Now that the Pearl is gentrifying it's become somewhat pretentious in its attempts to remain divey. It's developed a snobby attitude about how it's a working class bar. Oddly enough it seems to be changing into the kind of place it proclaims it isn't. I still like it and it's still relatively cheap, but just wonder where it's going. _______________ _________________________ ________________________ ___________________01/06/08 - Returned there a month ago and found that's it even more trendily non-trendy. If you really want a bar with no pretensions instead of this self-loving pit, try The Life of Riley a few blocks away. For what you're paying the food is 1,000 times better. And the service is actually happy to see you. more

LB is a great place to go afterwork for a drink and just chill. I highly recommend their chicken quesedillas!! more

needs work 5/3/2003

Do they ever clean? The smoke is way overkill, and the non-smoking is setup like an after thought. Also, a bad attitude is not cool anymore. Get with the times. Cons: smokers dungeon more

Downtown Haven 4/23/2003

I LOVE the low brow (I own no skateboard or maryjanes). It is becoming a bigger part of the ""scene"", but it's still oh-so-very-nice to have a chill place to drink a beer and eat good bar food. The staff seems down to earth. The place is comfortable. Even though it's been getting more crowded on the weekends, it is still much less crowded than most downtown bars. Plus, all the suburbanites go home early anyways. Pros: Good bar food, Chill atmosphere, Inexpensive more

Top Notch 1/10/2003

what more can you say. Good eats, cold beer. I mean tater tots, last time you could find them this good was in the high school cafeteria. Pros: Food, Beer, Beer Cons: parking, in, NW more

Low Brow ... in the Pearl? 1/7/2003

Low Brow stays true to its name by remaining a dark, grungy hangout in the middle of the Pearl district. My only complaint would be the smoke, but that's a problem at every Portland bar. Believe it or not, LA is more progressive than Portland on this front, having banned smoking in public bars. It is REALLY nice. more

No tv for sports? YIPPIE! 1/4/2003

reading the last comments made me think of another reason to love this bar- no sports on tv! thank you , thank you , thank you.... it was early evening, so there wasn't a crowd or smoke, but it's nice and dark...being from out of town (and employed by different -small bar gets too popular- ourselves) we chatted it up with the friendly bartender a bit....great use of jager bottles! can't wait to visit again... Pros: dark, great seats, NO SPORTS ON TV more

Unbelievable! 12/8/2002

Worst service EVER! We were actually yelled at and berated by the owner of the establishment. All for deciding that we didn't want to stay because there was no tv to watch the game. Cons: smoky, rude more
