without trying to be mean spirited or negative this was by far the worst example of Mexican food I've EVER had. A group went to try it (on the advice of the city search reviews) ...

Great lunch spot. 10/9/2006

Tasty burritos, complimentary chips and salsa with each order (extra chips $1, extra salsa $.25), quick service, and most importantly, cash only! Super burritos are large, so if you are going back to work, be prepared to be sleepy.... Pros: Fresh made to order food, great burritos Cons: Ca$h only more

Mighty Tasty Bites 9/8/2006

On the advice of my boyfriend who swears by their burritos, I decided to give this place a whirl for lunch. It's cozy and unpretentious, with different colored oilcloths on each table which I would love for my apartment. \r \r While I enjoy the occasional burrito, I am not a fanatic, so I tried the Special quesadilla which came with sauteed cabbage - a really nice texture contrast. My friend raved about her tostada with prawns which was not the monstrosity in a bowl most people would expect, but a healthy salad on a grilled tortilla with some pretty posh prawns for the price. We split some guacamole which had cajones, thank God. I have little patience for insipid, watered-down guacamole. The wooden gnomes standing outside convinced me to try the mango agua fresca which went down sweet and smooth. The chips and salsa were first rate - not your standard bought-from-Costco taqueria fare at all. I have to admit, this was my first encounter with a fresh chip ... I never knew such things existed. Luckily there's a one-bowl per order limitation or I'd slather them with salsa and stuff my face until the cows came home, if you know what I'm saying.\r \r Service was knowledgable, friendly and had some personality for a change downtown. According to my boyfriend, this place has been around for ages and is a family business. Despite all that, it wasn't tired at all and felt very upbeat and straightforward. Good people.\r \r more

not the same since vickie left 8/7/2006

It's changed a lot since Vickie left and sold the restaurant to her daughter. The quality of the food has gone down and they have gotten cheap with the chips (the bags were cut in half to reduce the amount people can take at the self-serve chips/salsa bar. Salsa's good though.). Just today I ordered a carne asada burrito and got chicken instead. And it wasn't even the white meat chicken they usually serve, but the very dry, gamey dark meat. The burrito was practically inedible. There seem to be fewer people there these days. Maybe I'm not the only one who's noticed a change. Pros: Convenient financial district location Cons: Food quality questionable and service has gone down more

Thumbs Up All Around 7/19/2005

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the Financial District. Lots of vegetarian options and a homey atmosphere keep me coming back for more. I for one APPRECIATE lard-free beans. The weekly ""especiales"" in particular have a unique appeal. Last week I had a quesadilla with carmelized onions which may not be the most ""authentic"" Mexican meal but was, in my not-so-Mexican opinion, scrumptious. The fruit salsas are innovative and always a treat. My more carnivorous friends assure me that the meat selections are equally appealing. Portions are generous, the price is right and the food and vibe are right on. Great salsas and home-made chips, the hot sauce regularly has me breaking a sweat. They aren't perfect, but in my experience, 9 times out of 10, this place is a solid call. I'd say 9 out of 10 of my co-workers would agree. Cheers. Pros: mucho gusto, inexpensive, fast service Cons: can get crowded more

Best Burrito ever!! 7/10/2005

Burritos are an integral part of San Francisco's culinary landscape and Los Socios serves the best ones in the city. Four stars...and tennis shoes are encouraged! more

Looks like Mexican food, tastes like?!? 7/5/2005

Quick eat for suits on the run. Good selection. Health conscience on the plate-- not quite a Mexican meal-- sure there are beans and rice, but they don't have that Mexican taste that you would have in the Mission. Good place, but would rather have my ""chava"" make me lunch with some spice. Rather bland food altogether/ not bad for a fast lunch. Pros: fast, quick Cons: no spice, little zest more

Longtime favorite! 7/2/2005

I've been going to Los Socios for years -- I had a 3-day-a-week habit when I worked in the financial district, and I still manage to visit once a week for their delicious, fresh, inventive burritos even though I work South of Market now. Addictive food, and the prices are great too! Pros: great food, fast, convenient more

get real with the bogus reviews 6/15/2005

without trying to be mean spirited or negative this was by far the worst example of Mexican food I've EVER had. A group went to try it (on the advice of the city search reviews) on a Friday for lunch. Bland, wet, underseasoned, Americanized Mexican food combined with uncaring, unprofessional service insures we won't be returning. (Unanimous by all 8 of us who went). Pros: closed on the weekend, not open late Cons: food, service, food more

Best Burritos in town by FAR! 6/9/2005

Authentic, very tasty food right in middle of downtown. Prices are right and even when they're crowded, they manage to get you in and out quick. They give you BIG portions, and it's the yummy, sloppy kind of Mexican food that always feels good in your tummy afterwards. Be sure to allocate time for a nap later in the day! Pros: Excellent food, Manage crowds well, Great for takeout more

Tasty Mexican Food in the Financial District 6/7/2005

I eat at Los Socios twice a week. The food is great, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable. The burritos are solid as others have mentioned in their reviews. I get my daily greens from the Tostada Salad con Pollo Asado. A green salad is served on top of a toasted flour tortilla. With the greens are roasted chicken, sliced cucumber, tomato, corn, black beans and cheese. A lime cilantro dressing brings it all together. The red hot sauce that comes with the chips is also excellent. Pros: great food, quick service, reasonably priced more

This place was awful 6/2/2005

It felt like the staff went out of their way to make my experience awful. They had NO idea what i'd ordered. I had to tell them 4 times what i ordered. Then a rude woman didn't believe i paid, and walked away, making me wait 5 minutes just to get my food bagged. This was after waiting 10 minutes to fix my order and figure out how to charge me! After this, the food was still the biggest let down of all. The sour cream was soup, the quesadilla was bland and not very cheesy, the tacos were sitting in soup and the tostado was salad on top of a tortilla. I will NEVER go there again.. This place is in the heart of the financial district and during lunch it was only half full! i believe it! From beginning to end, Los Socios was beyond disappointing Pros: salsa bar Cons: rude, cash only, no parking more

Best Mexican in the City 5/30/2005

Their Specials are awesome, especially the sauces for the #1 Special: IE: Piquin, Chipotle, whatever it is, it is always fantastic and doesn't matter what it is!!!!! Also the nachos are tasty!!! Pros: Great Food, Fast Service more

Great Fresh Mex in the Financial District 5/22/2005

I've always loved the burritos at Los Socios - the ingredients are always fresh, and well balanced, plus it's totally affordable. Make sure to get some of the homemade tortilla chips with the habenero salsa! Pros: friendly, quick, delicious more

Great Service Great Food 5/18/2005

I love this place! Great burrito's with lot's of meat and you can ask for it as hot as you like. The grilled tomato sala is fabuloso too! Pros: Quick in & out Cons: cash only more

Quite possibly the best burrito in the city 5/18/2005

Surprisingly, you can find the an incredibly tasty burrito in the financial district. I live in the mission, yet this is my favorite burrito place. The food is always fresh, the staff is very friendly and the price is quite reasonable. more

los socios rocks! 5/16/2005

I had worked in the financial district for the over four years and never ventured far enough up Sacramento Street to discover Los Socios. Now I know what I was missing! The best burritos I've ever tasted, fresh grilled meat, deeeelicious salsas, homemade chips, big healthy salads (the lime cilantro dressing is addictive) and ROCKING habanero salsa. I almost fell on the floor. It's that good! Pros: inexpensive, good music, good food more

User review by travel4life 5/16/2005

Great guacamole and the owner is always helpful, food is always good and the service is prompt. Pros: Inexpensive, Great guac Cons: No tortilla soup more

Feel like taking a mini vacation to Mexico? 5/16/2005

Look no further...this is my favorite SF Mexican restaurant. Every time I walk through the door I am immediately transported south of the border. The staff here knows their customers by name, latin music plays in the background and the food hits the spot everytime. You have to try this Financial District Burrito mecca, where the one and only, indefatigable Louis, prepares every order by hand. We figured out once that he's made over 200,000 burritos. My personal favorite of his (The Chicken Super Burrito w/ Blackbeans, Light on the Hot Sauce). I've eaten here for four years straight at least once a week. They'll take good care of you, I promise. Jake Pros: Tasty, Quick, Friendly more

Yummy Burrito 5/12/2005

Can't beat it ! The best burrito I have had. Great service and atmosphere. more

Yummy & Healthy 6/19/2004

For the past 3 years I have gotten my lunch at Los Socios at least once a week. As a healthy food nut, good oils, fresh veggies, cleanliness and overall good karma of a restaurant are imperative for me. The team at Los Socios not only has great steamed or sauteed veggie burritos but also fabulous a fabulous tostada salad with grilled chicken (or just ""plain""). I ususally go for the cilantro dressing and add guacamole. Another treat are the platos with side salad. Here I go for the chicken fajitas or cheese enchiladas. On occasion owner Vicki offers delicious mango salsa and three times a year homemade mole - another reason to look forward to the holiday season. Pros: Great food, fast service, excellent staff Cons: , no tortilla soup more
