Lone Cedar Cafe

This resaurant is owned by one of our state Senators. It has the best seafood on the entire Eastern Seaboard as far as I am concerned. Their Crabcakes are delicious and worth the drive alone, but don't forget to check out their cornbread. It is like no other and chocked full of fresh corn. I have tried over and over again to duplicate it at home but can't seem to get it even close to theirs. The fresh seafood can't be beat either. The have a very good bar, and the bartenders will make any drink you can come up with....my favorite is a Pomegranite Margarita which isn't on their list, but they made it exactly how I like it anyway! I for one enjoyed Lone Cedars for many years. I continually have the same waiter who is fast and courteous. The food is excellent, which I consider one of the finer seafood restaurants on the Outer Banks. The wait can be trying during the summer season, but I do believe it is worth it. The dining area can be noisy as well. But I think it is worth the wait and love going back. The seafood is fresh and the service is refreshing. Bar none Excellent food. The stuff flounder is the best. the seafood platter is great. Even if you have to wait 20 min for a tables You have a waiting area very relaxing, as well as the deck outside looking over the water, the scenery is too die for, or you can go to the bar. This is one great place to eat, relax, you can even get some gifts for yourself or friends at the gift shop also inside.. Highly recommended it. A must! The food is excellent! If you don't necessarily want to wait at dinner time - try Lone Cedar for lunch... I think the fact that people are willing to wait to eat in this place is an honest testimony of the quality of the food - If you want to experience the BEST of OBX - try this place! one of first to see as you arrive via direction of Roanoke Island (Manteo). Their food is far above average, and selection is good. Always a stop for us as we arrive at the Outer Banks. A very excellent choice. more

I read the first review and was shocked. There is nowhere on the Banks that has fresher seafood. If you have to wait do it outside and enjoy the breeze, the view of the inlet and a cocktail from the outdoor bar. I have a home in KDH and visit 4 or 5 times a year. There are quite a few seafood places on the Outer Banks that I would visit before I go back to Lone Cedar again. The food was descent, just nothing special. The atmosphere killed me. I had to wait 45 minutes for a table and it was absolutely miserable waiting due to the heat in the waiting area. I was soaked through by the time I was seated. Once seated it was a bit cooler, but not by much, and now the volume was turned up to the max. It was so loud in the place I couldn't have a conversation at my table, from one end to the other. Good but not great. Go to the Colington Cafe, Bad Baracudas, Queen Anne's Revenge....anywhere, but save this place until you've exhausted other options.
