Editorial review from Citysearch 2/23/2014

The sweet, yet modern diner located in the heights, Lola, brings customers quality, home-style cooking with a twist. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Lola offers a variety of traditional breakfast/brunch options with a creative twist like chicken and fruit waffles or omelets like the So-Cal with portabella, goat cheese, bell pepper, avocado and sprouts.\r \r The quaint diner style restaurant can be found on the corner of Yale and 11th street and is housed inside of a 70 year-old heights building. The menu consists of an array of heart healthy, gluten free and vegetarian options is priced affordably with generous portion sizes.\r \r After stopping by breakfast and enjoying the So-Cal omelet, I was sold. The freshly prepared, savory omelet with inventive combinations was perfectly balanced by the crisp, lightly buttered toast and juicy, to-die for chicken sausage.\r \r Lola’s menu offers a dish for every appetite. Looking for a crisp salad? Try the Farmers Market Salad with organic spring mix blend, blueberries, strawberries, roma tomatoes, craisins, toasted almonds and feta. Or what about a fill you up, put you to sleep kind of meal? Try the Day After Thanksgiving sandwich filled with roasted turkey, cranberry, cornbread dressing and a side of brown gravy.\r \r Lola is the perfect place for the foodie who is looking to relax, enjoy a comforting meal and enjoy the whimsical, laid back nature of the Houston Heights. more

Very Good Food, Excellent Service 6/17/2011

We ordered (around 2:00 in the afternoon): Turkey Club and Steak and Onions - very good Fries - Great Coffee - good As noted, service was quick and very nice. Will come back when ever we are in the area. more

Bleh! Not good. 6/15/2011

The burgers were small and tasted like meatloaf. If my kid wanted meatloaf, she would have ordered meatloaf. The chicken Sopressata was okay - but really, it just tasted like standard chicken fettuccine. Music was too loud. No booster chair for my toddler. It was overpriced. If you're single and trendy it's probably more your style. If you're a family wanting good food at a reasonable price, this isn't the place. We won't be going back. more

Wet Roast Beef Debris-- Yummier than It Sounds 1/4/2011

My table, Lola's regulars, ordered the Day-after-Thanksgiving Sandwich on January 3...it's that good. more

Always great I eat here at least 3 times a week 10/21/2010

I have a little business which is right down the street from Lola's. I don't have much time to actually eat at the restuarant but order on a regular basis to go... Great staff, recognize you and almost always know your name. I highly recommend. more

A Winner in My Book 7/13/2010

I decided to check out Lola's in the Heights for myself after reading the mediocre reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. Our table ordered Chicken Fried Chicken, Veggie Lasagna and the Roast Beef Debris sandwich. We all had a taste of each other's dish and all gave the thumbs up for all three dishes. You better believe we'll be back to become regulars. Can't wait to try the Chicken and Waffles. Pros: Diverse menu, breakfast all day Cons: None I can think of more

How Sad 6/26/2010

Oh no! I was planning to text a few friends to arrange for breakfast at Lola's in the morning. I will find another restaurant after reading the previous review. more

Great breakfast and burgers 6/5/2010

Lola has great comfort food. It's not a normal diner in that you order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table, but beyond that there's no real wait service - fine with me. The Lola Burger and the Wet Roast Beef Debris sandwich are my favorites - but be hungry, they are large portions. They also serve a good breakfast - a little crowded on weekend mornings. I've only had a problem there once and the owner was very understanding and was quick to resolve the issue. A nice addition to the Heights fare. Pros: Good food, quck, convenient, counter service avail more
