Update: My son has been going to this daycare center for over 4 years now. We've had ups and downs in our personal life and the staff has always been helpful in helping us deal with these when they cross over to daycare. They are very supportive and willing to make adjustments as needed. My son has and continues to struggle with interpersonal relationships and the staff has worked with us on trying to get these things under control. I have moved out of the area for this daycare and kept him at this facility because the staff cares about my son as much as I do and show it in the way they help him and me. I trust them with my child completely. I can't imagine ever going to a different daycare.\r \r The security at this facility is nice and helps keep your mind at ease. They have never given my son to someone not on the list and when someone new does show up they always check the ID of that person. You need a security code to get in the building and a release button to get out that is high enough on the wall that little ones can't run out without adult help.\r \r They pick up and drop off to quite a few schools in the area which makes things so much easier for the working parent. My son often finishes his homework at Lit'l Scholars with the help of the teachers as needed. He's excited to come home with time to play instead of having to do homework at a late hour. \r \r They offer good meals and snacks. I am always confident my son is getting the best nutrition possible. The cook always makes sure the kids are fed. There have been times I've picked up my son at snack time and she makes his snack portable so he can take it with him.\r \r The summer program at Lit'l Scholars is amazing. My son has at least one field trip every week, sometimes two. They spend a week focused on one topic and activities are based on those topics. Some past topics have been dinosaurs and space. They use a local rec center's pool and go to a local park on a regular basis. My son has learned so much from these trips. The best part? There is no extra cost for these programs!\r \r At the beginning of the last school year the director organized a ""Back to School Fundraiser"" to make sure every child went to school with the things they needed like clothes, shoes, backpacks and various school supplies. They collected donations and matched them with the requests of the students. It was kept within the network of the clients at Lit'l Scholars and such a wonderful and helpful program. They've done similiar things around the holidays.\r \r A photographer comes twice a year and takes the most amazing pictures at a very discounted rate. I look forward to her visits and so does my son.\r \r There have been times when I worried about the turnover at Lit'l Scholars but the main teachers are the generally the same and they help the children get used to a new personality. The teachers are very good and trained in the proper techniques for helping children learn and grow.\r \r In short, I will keep my son in this daycare until he no longer needs before and after school care, regardless of where in the valley we live. They are wonderful people. I highly recommend them to everyone I know. more

We moved to Salt Lake about 5 months ago and I was looking for a daycare for my children. I have been in Utah for 3 years now and I have had my children in several daycares across the valley. I can HONESTLY say that none of the daycares they have been in measure up to Lit'l Scholars. All the teachers have a smile on their face and welcome my children by name when we walk through the door. I have a preschool age & a school age child that attend. They offer dance classes and karate to the children that would like to participate at no extra charge. THAT IS AMAZING!! In my preschoolers class, they are learning Spanish words with their little friend ""Coco"" (a stuffed animal that visits) and they also use the Granite School Distirct cirriculum so the kids are prepared to go to kindergarten. You can truly tell that the teachers love the children and this is reciprocated by the kids. Every day before my preschooler leaves, she has to hug her teacher & won't leave until she says goodbye. You don't see that every day at many daycares! I have piece of mind everyday when I drop my kids off knowing that they are in the hands of people who will care for them & make sure they are safe. I would highly recommend that if you looking for childcare, you put Lit'l Scholars on the top of your list. more

Caring honest staff My son (6 years old) started going to Lit?l Scholars in August 2012. Before starting at this daycare he was at the same daycare since he was and infant. When my son started Kindergarten I needed to find a daycare that transported from his school. The staff made the transition to a new daycare very positive for my son. He was excited to go on all the fun field trips offered in the summer. He also enjoys all the extra classes such as Karate (without any additional cost to tuition). The staff here has always been very easy to talk to and work with. I have been very happy with my experience at this daycare. more

Loving staff, a bargain at twice the price 7/16/2012

This is an update: My 3 year old has been here for three years now and is very happy. Every one of her care providers has been loving and sensitive to her needs at every stage. Yes, there is turnover, but typically the turnover has been restricted to ""aid"" positions and her primary teachers/care providers have remained unchanged. The center will typically work with you when you have any issues with your child's care. If you are respectful and vocal your issues will be addressed. more

Great place to take your children. 6/8/2012

Great place to take your children. They have some very caring teachers. We had some concerns about potty training and talked to Melissa about them and she took care of the issue immediately. Prices are very reasonable. The hours they're open are very accommodating and work very well for our schedules. more

My children and I love this place. 6/8/2012

My children and I love this place. Since my son who is 3, has started he is potty trained, has learned tons of new songs, and loves coming to play with his teachers and new friends. My daughter loves that she gets to come and play after school and all the great activities they do. This place is wonderful and awsome!!! more

My son, who is three and a half, is 5/30/2012

My son, who is three and a half, is just finishing his first month at Litl Scholars. He was attending a montessori school. I wanted his experience to be more like a school environment with classrooms, a gym and playtime outside everyday. At his old school he was lumped in with all ages. I also wanted him in a class of his age group. Well little scholars has delivered, besides the fact that he is even more happy and jubilant when I pick him up than at his old school. Didn't think that was possible! I am thrilled with his teachers and the rest of the staff. The staff is just as concerned about my son""s development and happiness as I am. I feel super confident and at ease with him attending Litl Scholars. more

Super amazing staff who are helpful, 5/30/2012

Super amazing staff who are helpful, friendly, and kind. My kids enjoy coming here so much they get upset when it is time to come home. I am happy to have found such an amazing childcare provider who is willing to take time to help me with my issues and make sure I leave worry free. My kids are always bring me home drawings and things they have done which makes me proud. Also grateful to know my kids are eating healthy since lit'l scholars is a part of the food program. My kids and I both agree this is by far one of the best out there.. more

Dishonest staff 10/8/2011

I have brought my 3 year old son to daycare and he was assigned to a group of 4 and 5 year olds because he was potty trained (?) later, I was told that kids get into the younger group on first come first served basis. As I was getting ready to leave, his teacher had left for lunch without notifying a substitute teacher or me. I found her myself and explained that my son was new. When I picked him up at 5pm, he was asleep on the floor, kids jumping around him, -he had cried himself to sleep. Originally, I wanted to sign him up because there were two boys he knew, but , even though they were older, they were in a 3 year old group. I was told that one of the kids would be in his group, but, after I talked to his parent, I found out that he was in a younger group after all. The place is really affordable but the staff, except for one teacher, is just dishonest. more

Amazing Childcare for first time mothers!! 5/11/2011

I have had my now 4 year old daughter with Lit'l Scholars since she was 6 weeks old. And as a new mother it was very hard to leave my child to be cared for by others. But all of the staff including the managers not only made me feel a lot better about leaving her (which was super hard as a first time mother), they were great about me calling several times a day and really did not seem to mind and gave me honest updates. I have also seen the daycare as a whole improve over the past 4 years, they have updated the classrooms, playgrounds, and gym areas with new carpet, paint, toys and equipment. I have also seen improvement on staff turn over and quality(which in the beginning was a little scary). Now I feel great leaving my little girl with them and I don't feel the need call and get updates. With all the improvements they have made over the years and fact that they seem to be making a constant effort in being better and more than just babysitters, I feel that I will have my daughter here as long as I can. I would recommend this child care center to first time mothers and parents looking for caring and loving people to watch after their children. more

Great facility & caring staff 10/1/2010

I've had my children here for several years. I'm happy to have my children in this facility where they have a very large indoor gym for activities all year round. My children (4 and 8) have shared some of the same teachers - several of the staff have worked here for years and years. There is generally a high turnover rate for daycare teachers, and it's true there are times when we've had to deal with that too, however, it's going to be the same at virtually any daycare. There are so many teachers here who have worked for so long, that it makes up a bit for these uncommon changes in staff. We also paid bigger bucks for a name brand place, and the care at Lit'l Scholars vastly excels over some of the other trendy places. Things I love about this place: new playground, afterschool activities with choices such as dance, karate, science activities and art/reading. There are extended hours (7am-7pm) which works best for our schedule. There's a good deal of diversity. As to the cleanliness - it would be worth a visit. Anytime I've smelled something it was either food from breakfast or lunch or pinesol. I've noticed the prior reviews seem slanted toward some grumpy people who didn't even allow their children to adjust. Starting a new daycare will always present some transitional challenges. Not all of the fault lies with the provider, and I feel the reviews do not reflect the service I've enjoyed for years. more

Okay but not great 9/1/2010

I put my two year old here for about 3 weeks. There is nothing wrong with the place and the people seemed nice enough but my child just didn't seem to like it. I heard one care giver dismiss a child who asked to have his diaper changed and my husband heard another teacher (from another class) yell at a child for not sitting down. I don't think they harmed my child but I don't think they went out of their way to love her either. So, while I wouldn't think you were neglecting your child if you sent her here, I am not sure if it is the best you can get for the money. more

Give them a break......... 7/15/2008

Harley222's review on Lit'l Scholars is at best unfair. My son was in the same class as her two boys. I watched them bulley other kids and teachers unprovoked. My son hated going to daycare because these boys and nearly forced us to find another facility. I agree that we pay the daycare to do a job and from almost three years of care from them, they seem to be doing just that. I don't think it is fair to expect all the other patrons of the daycare to endure constant disruptive and abusive behavior. Thank you Lit'l Scholars for keeping my child safe. more

Very stoic and rude 5/6/2008

I had my boys go there for the mere location benefit, it was close to my work. At first there were no problems, it was an adjustment for them to go from having a stay at home mom to teacher after teacher after teacher. The turn around was unbelieveable. I know that boys will be boys and they aren't called the terrible 2's and 3's for a reason. But I was getting phone calls everyday because my son was being 'abusive', a two year old, a 3 year old... for heavens sakes, who hasn't seen a kid throw a tantrum. So repeatedly they would kick them out of daycare, they couldn't even give me specific reasons why. And funny thing is it was only when the director was there (which wasn't often) but the other assistant directors and teachers had no problems with my boys. They are in the child care business if I remember right... I do have a child with special needs and he was the first to be permantently kicked out and then suddenly all the things they claimed my first son did, the second son started miracously doing even though he'd never been in trouble before. So out he went as well. I think for being in the child care business, they are not at all professional. They are not kind of considerate to the parents. We pay them to do a job, they're not doing us a favor, they're paid to do a job... that they can't seem to do. Pros: location to my job Cons: pricey, rude employees and an awful director more

Unacceptable Daycare 6/13/2007

Had many problems with daycare facility. Our 3-year-old son attended for 2 days and we had prepaid for the remainder of that month (10 days or so). On his second day, my husband entered building and there was a disabled child unsupervised who was having a raging fit. My husband approached the teacher who told him this was the only place he could go and left him unattended. The daycare smelled of old unrine. Not a recommended choice for a child. Daycare refused to refund our pre-paid monies. more
