This is NOT the place for food 8/17/2005

The service was slow and the food was cold. There is too much hype about the rolls. They were cold. The 'home cooked' food was tough and bland. (I don't remember my grandma cooking this way). This is a very touristy place. Pros: Historical Cons: Cold food, Over priced, Difficult to get to more

Best cafeteria in Utah! 4/28/2005

For a cafeteria, the food here cannot be beat. Salmon is the thing here (make sure they have it, call ahead). Home made pies. Home made rootbeer. This is an institution, not to be missed. Outstanding (when they have the salmon)! Pros: Salmon, dessert, Ambiance, Decor Cons: PARKING, Limited hours more

This is the Place (to eat) 7/9/2004

This is a charming, unique eatery hidden right in the heart of Salt Lake. It is open for lunch and dinner, cafeteria style (don't let that fool you - the food is excellent). Try their homemade pies, and of course their own brand of root beer - eat out on the patio in the back on a nice day and you wouldn't know you were in the heart of a big city. Take home some of the specialy breads or candies they sell at the counter. Highly recommended!! Pros: food, ambience, rootbeer Cons: , hours more

Great Comfort Food 6/10/2002

I take my in-laws from Palo Alto, CA here all the time when they come to town--this is their kind of food. Home cookin. The salmon, trout, various chicken dishes are all worthy as are side dishes such as the rice and vegies. The salad is a bit too ""ice bergie"" for my tastes but the other vegie dishes more than hold their own. Go for two homemade rolls if you're a bread eater like I am--these are some of the best you'll ever taste. Although there is no beer, a Martinelli's Sparkling cider more than quenches the thirst. Overall, the Lion House is a can't lose if you like home cookin' style. Pros: The rooms are nice, Take some buns ta'go, worthy desserts more
