I don't really care about having super straight, super white teeth. I really just want my gums and teeth to be healthy. If that's all that matters to you too, this is probably not the best place for you. They are extremely cosmetics focused. I know that my teeth are far from perfect, but Lifesmiles made me feel like I had the worst teeth in the world. So since having perfect teeth is not my goal, I knew I had to get a second opinion after my appointment with them. Lifesmiles made me feel like if I didn't take all of their suggestions, all of my teeth would fall out, and I'm not going to just drop 8,000$ on one opinion. I also wasn't about to pay for X-rays again when I had literally just taken them.
So, I got everything ready to release my records and X-Rays to another practice. I paid the receptionist the fee to release my records, and she told me they would email them to me by the end of the day. Seemed pretty straight forward and simple. Well two days goes by and no phone call, no email, nothing. II think that it normally takes about a week, but if you are going to say by the end of the day and then not have any explanation of why you haven't done it yet, I am not just going to let you take my money and not wonder why. It seems like attaching a file to an email would take maybe a minute at the most, especially when they are all electronic, but maybe there is something more to it that I don't know about. Also, surely I couldn't be the first or last person to ask for a copy of my X-rays, so it would seem that the receptionist would have some knowledge of how to send them. Well, when I finally got a hold of her, she was a completely different person than the warm, friendly receptionist I encountered when I first got there. Seems she is a really nice person until you ask her to do something she either doesn't know how to do or doesn't want to do. She got extremely defensive and didn't feel that she had done anything wrong, and made me feel crazy for wanting what I paid for in a timely manner. Apparently she was having some issues with their system, and had she just communicated with me that she was even having problems and worked with me, I probably wouldn't even be writing this review. Well I took her excuses, and decided to reschedule my appointment with my second opinion and gave her a much longer time window to send them again. Again, she promised them to me by a certain date and I got no phone calls, email or any explanation of why I still hadn't received them. I didn't actually get them until I finally got fed up of not getting any sort of response through phone and email and actually drove up to Lifesmiles (almost an entire month later after first requesting them). At that point, I didn't even care about the X-rays anymore and wanted either my money back or a working attachment of my X-rays that day. The receptionist got extremely defensive again, didn't want to take any of the blame and stormed into another room and FINALLY sent me my X-rays. It took her about 19 seconds to do that...... She probably still feels like she didn't do anything wrong, and even if she actually hadn't done anything wrong, was her laziness worth a terrible review to do something that takes less than 30 seconds?! I know that since I am no longer a patient of theirs, I am not their first priority, but seriously?! It's unfortunate that the receptionist is often the only point of contact for patients and has such a huge influence on someone's opinion of the practice. The fact that doing a quick, routine task took almost a month made the receptionist look like she either just didn't care, was extremely lazy, or was totally incompetent because she didn't know how to troubleshoot simple problems. There are so may other dental practices that won't make you feel like crap and have competent, friendly staff. I'd try somewhere else...anywhere else...
