Hailed as the “New Home for Hope,” the new Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center houses technology and amenities virtually nonexistent in the region, and exceptionally rare in any community, let alone Thomasville.
New physicians, new treatment technology and new programs for research and patient support allow the Center to bring cancer patients the most promising approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The Gamma Knife Center at Archbold remains the only one of its kind south of Atlanta, and in Florida's Big Bend region. The impact of the Center and its non-invasive precision radiosurgery are starkly evident, having treated over 600 patients—from 45 different counties in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. In addition, Archbold physicians were recently recognized as the first in the state and second worldwide to revolutionize surgical treatment for lung cancer using mesh brachytherapy and the daVinci Robot.
But what makes the Center special isn't limited to new technology. Upon entering, one aspect is very clear—the comfort and well-being of patients and caregivers were clearly in mind during the strategic planning and construction of the building.
