Maybe his prisoner research was useful for someone, not sure, but he didnt work for us. Unprofessional in style and unconventional and controversial techniques.

Dr. Levinton helped me through a very difficult crisis in my life. He carefully listened and reflected on what I was saying, then patiently guided me to restructure and take control of the areas in my life that were falling apart. Thank you Dr. Levinton! more

The Bigger Picture--As a health care professional, I received a recommendation from a friend who had worked with Dr. Levinton earlier in his career. Although I was a bit skeptical, the friend suggested Dr. Levinton has a particular ability to see things from ""The Big Picture,"" or ""three-dimensionally."" (Maybe this has to do with the fact that he studied architecture earlier in his career.)\r \r Despite my skepticism, I was heavy-hearted because of some relationship losses, panic attacks, and persistent physical health issues which my medical doctors could not fully resolve to my satisfaction. So, I decided to give Dr. Levinton a try. From the first meeting, Dr. Levinton was very cordial, pleasant, showed strong interest in my well-being, empathic, held me in high regard, gave me some psychiatrist referrals, asked for and received copies of my medical records from my physicians , and answered every email and phone call from me promptly. He drew up a treatment plan with specific treatments to directly address my issues, always checking in with me, and explaining to me what each treatment was.\r \r Dr. Levinton was always present with me, consulted and worked with me interactively to help me process my losses with the view of what I could take away from my life experiences while deepening my insight. I can't think of enough positive things to say about this psychologist. After about six months, he helped me turn my life around, and now that my work with him is done, I gently urge anyone who needs a helpful hand to see things from a wider perspective, go see Dr. Levinton. more

be careful here 9/4/2010

Would recommend that you keep searching. He definitely did not work for me and my wife. He makes recommendations about people he has never met and does not promote transparency. He takes steps that other therapists find highly unusual.....keep looking, there are many therapists out there. Good luck. more

Dr. knows best 9/26/2008

Dr. Levinton?s lengthy and career and CV speak for itself. He has worked in human development since 1968. As a patient, I found Dr. Levinton to be an exceptionally experienced psychologist with an impressive knowledge of the inner workings of the human mind and aptly able to handle an avalanche of emotions with great ease. He possesses amazing people skills. He is truly concerned and sensitive to your various individual needs. After a session with him I felt confident and ready to face the next challenge or conflict. I also learned valuable breathing, coping and relaxation techniques from him through visualization. Pros: Easy parking, nice location. more

rude, condescending, unethical 5/13/2006

I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about this man. His style is to stare at you, occasionally throw out a jab (you sound bitter; I see no evidence of what you're saying), and insist that you are a victim of sexual abuse! I have no idea where the ""abuse"" slant came from, it seemed he was completely clueless, had nothing useful to say and as a result was trying to pull something from the air. His home office is unpleasant, too. Pros: takes insurance Cons: rude, condescending, unethical more
