YOU ALL ARE WONDERFUL!!!\r I was blind but now I see thanks to Dr. Levinson and his wonderful staff. At a negative nine prescription with astigmatism in both eyes I thought there was no hope for me. I was nervous about my appointment that I would be turned down for the procedure. At the office Mary was great in sharing past testimonials of clients. When I heard the staff under Dr. Levinson had brought all their family members to him and how happy they were and that he had staff members like Emily, who worked for him for over 13 years, I was sold. I am so impressed with Dr. Levinson’s professionalism and even more impressed that he has a sense of humor. To be able to laugh after having a laser in my eyeball was a true relief. Dr. Levinson’s staff was incredible. Mary painted a picture and escalated my excitement to have the procedure done and Emily was so kind and caring as she coached me through the rest of the process. I can’t thank Dr. Levinson and his staff enough for making this process a journey I will never forget. Since I was a kid I prayed for new eyes and now at the age of 35 I experienced a miracle. A big thank you to the front office for being so kind and courteous, to Mary for encouraging me over the phone to come in for a free consultation, to Emily, “My Eye Nurse” who walked me through the process and celebrated my joy with me and to Dr. Levinson who will be forever remembered as “The Healing Hands who Gave me the Gift of Vision”. I see better now than I ever did with my contacts or glasses. I can swim now without worrying about my being splashed in the eye and losing a lens. I can wake up in the morning and my husband is a person not a blur and not only do I stop to smell the roses but now I look at them through perfect lenses. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!\r With Sincere Appreciation,\r Maegen A Merian\r more

You look for the wrong criteria 1/3/2012

I look for a competent doctor: Dr. Levinson is that. I have been seeing him for over a decade, his direct style is refreshing, his qualifications speak for themselves, and it can be necessary to wait but he can finish quickly and having assistants perform the routine data gathering speeds the process. I had cataracts surgery with corrective (toric) lenses and monovision, rather than lasik. Repeating what was said above: I can see, no more contacts, no more glasses. He did a great job. more

Use your eyes to look elsewhere 12/15/2011

I had last seen Dr. Levinson 4 years ago. About 6 weeks ago I went to see him due to the fact that my eyesight had dramatically diminished over the previous month, my eyes were in a constant state of redness and I had episodes of blurred vision. After waiting 45 minutes to be shown to an exam room, I overheard the Dr. arguing and being rude to another patient. One of his assistants completed 95% of my exam. I have no idea what her credentials were, but she was clearly not a doctor. She just kept saying, ""I'm the one doing the looking the the Dr. will be the one doing the talking."" Further, she sidestepped any question that I had as she went through the exam citing the same quote over and over. Dr. Levinson did a cursory look in the eyes and came to the simple conclusion that my eyesight at worsened (not usual at my age of 43) and that he was going to recommend starting me on a monovision prescription for my contact lenses. I tried the new prescriptions but over the next 6 weeks, I saw marginal improvement, my eyes remained red (all of the time even when not wearing contacts) and I still encountered episodes of blurred vision. Today I went to get a second opinion from another Dr. What she discovered was that: 1) the contacts that I had been using over the course of the last 7 years were extremely outdated technology and were depriving my eyes of adequate oxygen (newer lenses are made out of other material that allow for more oxygen). As a result, I had caused significant damage to my eyes to the point of blocking tear ducts that prevented natural lubrication of the contacts. This lack of lubrication caused abrasions and other damage to the back of the eyes and beneath the lids causing a viral (not bacterial) conjunctivitis which I've apparently had for some time (thus the constant redness). None of this was picked up by Dr. Levinson (how could he with only a cursory look) or by the non-doctor that examined my eyes. As a result of the damage, it now looks as if I will need to be out of contacts for weeks if not months while my eyes heal and the inflamation reduces. I'll need to order new contacts (if I can even wear them again) as well as glasses (he didn't even give me a glasses prescription even after I asked since he said that ""it wouldn't be worth it if I'm going to wear contacts all of the time), thus costing yet more money. My understanding is that in order to get a contacts prescription doctors are required to give a glasses prescription as well (though this might just be customary practice) I also need go back to the eye dr. another 2 times to closely monitor the situation while I take steroids in my eyes and they heal. I liked Levinson 4 years ago when I saw him last and his reception folks are nice and welcoming, but it has become apparent that in the interim 4 years, he has become too busy, relies too heavily on support staff (perhaps some who do not have enough training) and has too many patients to truly provide the kind of medical attention (with an appropriate bedside manner) that I expect for the examination and treatment of such vital organs. more

CORRECTED TO 20/10 11/6/2009

I had my Lasik done in December of 2006 and have had perfect vision ever since. The consultation I had with Dr. Levinson prior to the surgery answered all of my questions. I have to admit that I had some serious hesitations with anyone operating on my eyes. Dr. Levinson was extrememly knowledgeable (see his website) and reassuring.\r \r Following the surgery, Dr. Levinson tested my new vision and was surprised (as I was) that my new eyesight bordered on 20/10, the theoretical limit of human vision. In the 3 years since, I have had NO degradation in my vision. So, if you are looking for 20/20 (or better), I would highly recommend Dr. Levinson.\r \r Thanks for everything, Dr. Levinson! Pros: Thorough, professional, top-notch Cons: Zero more

My apologies for your disappointing experience. 7/31/2008

I want to apologize to the person who wrote the negative review. It's obvious you were disappointed. I can't be specific about your particular exam as I don't know who you are or when you were in. But I do agree. Waiting 2 hours is too long. Unfortunately, it can happen, occasionally. Although, with a routine exam, we do try to tell patients they may be here for about 1 1/2 hours because of dilation and possibly extra testing. That's why I pay for patient parking when they use the Rose parking structure. Thank you for your candid opinion. Again, I apologize for your disappointing experience at my office.\r Thanks to those of you who wrote the positive reviews. It's great o hear that you are happy and satisfied.\r \r Richard Levinson, MD P.S. I had to choose a rating in order to submit this message. \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r more

HAPPY AND STILL 20/20! 7/31/2008

I was one of Dr. Levinson's first PRK patients in 1996! I still have 20/20 vision and have never had any problems. I can't believe it's been over 12 years since my surgery! \r \r I just came back for my annual eye exam and I am still treated like a super star! Most of the staff that was there is '96, are still there. That says so much about Dr. Levinson.\r \r Dr. Levinson's office was busy. Obviously, his great reputation is the reason why. more

Cut Corners 7/16/2008

I went in for a general eye exam. The office was very busy. Dr. Levinson did not test for my stigmatism and used my last years prescription instead. I found his services crappy to say the least. I took my prescriptions in to be filled and they didn't have the curvature listed on the prescription. Never documented. It was a total waste of my time. A routine eye exam; took 2 hours and didn't even get a thorough exam. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Don't expect to get an accurate prescription/exam more

outstanding medical care 12/26/2006

I have been considering Lasik for about 2 years now, and finally decided last month to get it done. After reading the information on Dr. Levinson's website, I made an appointment for a free consultation. Dr. Levinson and his team at Levinson Eye Clinic created a comfortable atmosphere, and gave concise and understandable information about the Lasik procedure. All of my questions were thoroughly answered by Dr. Levinson himself at the pre-op appointment, the procedure was successful, and now I have 20/15 vision. I couldn't be more pleased with the results, and Dr. Levnson's follow-up care. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Levinson to anyone who is interested in Lasik. Pros: friendly, caring, professional more

I can see 7/12/2002

What can I say. I no longer have to wear contacts. Dr. Levinson and his staff made me feel comfortable and at home. He not only did my eyes, but he did my husbands also. more
