Tasteless Food, Pathetic Service 11/16/2008

I went there for lunch with a few friends. We ordered an Iced Tea and the milk/cream used was expired and had gone sour. All three of us tried and were feeling sick drinking that. When we complained, we were just told that the milk is fine and something is wrong with us. The food was absolutely tasteless. We all love thai food and have been to several restaurants, and this one has to be the worst one. Cons: Really rude waitress, pathetic service, tasteless food, no value for money more

Was that Thai food? 4/1/2008

I wish I had read the other reviews before ordering from here. The only good thing that I can say about our experience was that the delivery arrived when they predicted - but it was certainly not worth the 45 minute wait. Pros: reasonable pricing Cons: disappointing food more

Stale oily food, shameful staff 10/10/2007

This restaurant is by far one of the worst so called Thai restaurants in NYC. I ordered the Tom Yum soup and there were puddles of oil floating all over and the flavor was bland to boot. I also ordered the steamed dumplings and I could not even slice it with my fork (knives are not provided). The were obviously reheated from several hours or possibly days ago and tasted like rubber. The papaya salad was seemingly ok until I cracked my porcelain crown after a few bites. I soon came to know that there were tiny ""dried shrimp"" in the dish but this shrimp that is sold in sealed bags in Chinatown normally is chewey and I have never had it in papaya salad. I have no issue with dried shrimp but this stuff was so hard and old it cracked my crown that I had to have replaced. I was terribly upset and called the waitress over to show her that shrimp that was hard as glass and she insisted that I did not know what I was talking about and that is how this dish is supposed to be. She had no interest at all in apologizing let alone acknowledging my injury. I was furious and I think this place is trecherous. I have lived in NYC for 12 years and have eaten in almost every Thai restaurant in NYC and this is by far the worst place I have ever been to any where in the world. It is a shame there arent any other decent Thai restaurants in the financial district. I urge everyone to stay away from this place!! Pros: location Cons: everything more

Avoid Pad Thai 4/23/2007

I ordered Pad Thai and even though it was edible it was the worse version I've ever tasted. It should be called Soy sauce Noodles. My sister had garlic chicken and it was pretty decent. They also had really bad karoekee singers. Its fine if its the guest but it turned out to be the bar tender. Wouldn't go back unless nothing was open and I was starving Pros: Food decent prices Cons: Bad food and bad singers more

Eat here only when nothing else is open.. 2/28/2007

I made the unfortunate decision of getting takeout for dinner at this place and it was SUCH A WASTE of money. Their chicken sauteed in black bean sauce tasted like left overs! The only thing I ended up eating was the rice because I was so displeased with my meal. This place used to be an OK spot for some quick Thai food, but now I'd much rather go to Bennie's Thai or Cafe Sage (both within a few blocks of Lemongrass) instead. Also, they play loud Karaoke music (what, the radio isn't good enough for ambiance?) almost nightly, so besides the bad food, that's customer repellant #2 for me... Pros: Closest Thai place on William & Maiden Lane, Quick dinner seating {see Cons} Cons: BAD FOOD, Karaoke at night, The bar's getting a tad seedy more

Just horrid 2/18/2007

Got delivery from them, and the only thing good was that it was delivered quicky. Then, the night went downhill. We ordered the Pad thai and Tofu Basil with vegetables. It was the worst of either I have ever had in my life. The pad thai was flavorless, and looked like it had been sitting out for way too long. The tofu basil was a lot of everything but tofu and basil, and the sauce way too thick. Very unappetizing. We couldn't even finish our dinner, and ended up ordering from some place else. Believe me, I will not be ordering from here again. more

Awful, awful, awful - delivery and dining in 2/17/2007

I ordered 2 entrees this evening at 5:45, requesting to have the order delivered at 6:45. At 7:15, the order still hadn't been delivered. When I called the restaurant to complain, they said it's b/c they're busy. They had an hour to deliver the food!!!! Cons: Awful delivery service, annoying karaoke in restaurant more

Worst place ever 1/17/2007

I ordered vegetarian food and when my food had meat in it they said, we don't think it is a meat. What a bad answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not recommanded at all. Pros: bad service, bad service bad service Cons: nothing more

Lost Orders, Couldn't find Address, Abusive Staff 11/3/2006

I ordered from Lemongrass Grill on a Saturday night at 6:30pm. At 7:30 my order still had not arrived, so I called back - they said they had a ""computer"" problem and lost my order. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, they said they'd rush my order in 20 minutes. I called 30 minutes later, now 8:30 and 2 hours after I originally decided I was hungry enough to place my order. They said the delivery guy couldn't find my address! I asked to be comped, knowing my food would now be cold and the manager told that they were busy she said that it was not her problem. She was abusive, loud and argumentative. She said she was busy and needed me to decide if I still wanted the food. Wow! Since when is customer service not the responsibility of a restaurant manger? Anyway, avoid like the plague! I have never been so severely disrespected by a restaurant in my life. Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen in this city and so take the time to find a restaurant who will treat you well in addition to serving you great food. Cons: Horrible customer service more

Good Food, Good Price 6/3/2006

I live very close to the LG, the food is great. The masamama curry is fabulous and the calamari is another favorite. The food is inexpensive, drinks very strong and the service is great. I have been there a dozen times and have ordered out twice. The karoke is pretty bad, EXCEPT when the college kids next door at the new school dorms sing, and unlike the 'suits' they have talent! Pros: price, service, food Cons: can be loud, bad karoke more

Great food but... 4/6/2004

I used to be a regular at the Lemongrass, both in the restaurant and take-out and their food is consistantly very good. The chefs are very accommodating when altering spiciness, etc. However, the past two times I ordered food from there, some foreign objects had found their way into my food. Instead of replacing the dish or a refund, they offered to give me a free portion on my next take-out order. Four weeks later, after gave the Lemongrass enough time to change their ways, I called up for my free portions, and they wouldn't give them to me. They've lost my business entirely. Also, request a table AWAY from the kitchen entrance....frontal views into their nasty kitchen won't help your appetite. And if you see people singing karaoke at the bar through the window, keep walking! They have the songs on so loud there's no chance for a conversation.... Pros: reasonably priced, never a wait, fast service Cons: , loud music, cheesy decor more
