In my opinion Dr. Namhi Lee is the best Family Medicine Doctor I have had the privilege of being treated by in my 54 years. She has been my primary care doctor for the last 7 years during a time in my life where medical problems crop up at an alarming rate. I tease that she is like finding a great mechanic. It is a rarity for me to find someone who is trustworthy, professional, knowledgeable, truthful, and ALWAYS has my best interest as her goal. If a specialist is needed, she doesn't hesitate to refer you to them. She will prescribe you the latest proven medicine or recommend an herbal solution or acupuncture. Her knowledge of Eastern and Western medicine works like insurance for my peace of mind. She does not order unnecessary tests, and never rushes your visit. One of her other outstanding traits is that she LISTENS to her patients and makes diagnosis without judgment. She treats me as a WHOLE person, where my body parts are connected to a certain lifestyle, culture, and spiritual life with real wants and needs. On those few occasions when a specialist delivers their diagnosis, I immediately consult with Dr. Lee, because she is the only professional I TRUST with my life.\r \r Sincerely,\r \r C. A. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/26/2012

I have been seeing Dr. Namhi Lee for 4 years. The first time I went to see her was for sinus infection for which she gave me acupuncture in the ears. I had no sinus headaches, infections or pressure pain at all for one year afterward. I use to get sinusitis and headaches every month and infections at least 4 times a year. So having no infection for one year I went back to Dr. Lee 1 year later and was good for another 2 years. This year I already had four sinus infections and went back to Dr. Namhi Lee. I am very happy with the results that I have been getting from seeing her. more

I highly recommend Dr. Lee for her medical skills, accurate diagnoses and trustworthiness. I have been her patient for over one year. Dr. Lee saved my life - Dr. Lee found something in one of my routine exams that could have been serious, but after taking care of the matter with her guidance, that condition is now ""excellent"". I appreciate her adding integrative medicine efforts (nutritional and mind/body recommendations) to greatly improve my overall health and energy level. As a detail-oriented person, she notices things that no one else notices (such as recent changes in my voice or body movements), which I am very grateful for. She takes her time to help interpret and understand confusing lab reports that other doctors did not take time to do. She is caring and compassionate. Whereas other doctors rush you out of the door in 15 minutes, Dr. Lee takes her time to be thorough and detail-oriented and is ""reachable"" by phone or appointment, treating you like a family member. I feel very lucky to be Dr. Lee's patient. more

An excellent doctor with a wider view 4/26/2011

I've been to a decent number of doctors over the years since I tend to move a lot and am pretty good at sniffing out doctors that care about your wallet vs doctors that care about your health. Dr. Lee is definitely in the latter category. She is well versed in both eastern and western medicine and does a good job of putting you back on the path to a healthy lifestyle. I've read some of the other reviews and the negative ones strike me as being somewhat childish. She does have strong religious beliefs but she is never disparaging or heavy handed about it. Also she does have a cat so if you are allergic just call her ahead of time and I'm sure she'll be happy to help. For those of you on the fence - I'd say give her a shot - if she is not for you then you can always look elsewhere. more

Accurate Diagnostically offers Western Medicine and Alternat 2/23/2011

Dr. Lee is an excellent doctor. She is very accurate diagnostically. I have seen her numerous times in the last ten years and have at times gotten a second opinion, she ihas always been spot on. I think the negative reviews are because she does see part of her job in connection with her religious beliefs. I do understand that this can be a turn off. I do not share her religion, have my own; but I can accept that this is who she is. Seeing Dr. Lee offers the additional benefit of her knowledge of actupuncure and other alternative therapies. She will give a correct dignosis and offer treatment options from a western perspective and then offer alternative treatment strategies; often less invasive and with less side effects. She really is good. I have seen her in several office locations over the years. She used to have an amazing office space and one could wait for an appt. in a motorized massage chair; it was like a waiting room in a spa. Her current office is a bit more cluttered and she does, or did the last time I saw her, have pets in the waiting area. No pets in the treatment room. I find the non traditional setting refreshing. It may be cluttered in the waiting area; but the treatment room is clean. She is a doctor who strongly offers her treatment opinions, but in the end she is a patient advocate and allows patients to play a role in choosing either a western treatment plan; alternative treatment or combination. more

Excellent Doctor 12/29/2010

Dr. Lee makes being a doctor look easy - namely because she is brilliant, and pays the utmost attention to her patient's needs. In addition to having mastered the traditional forms of Western medicine, she also offers remedies that are actually simple and effective - yet probably unthought of by a typical patient. For example, she was able to advise me on the power of stretching in terms of healing my foot, and urged me to stretch properly when she noticed that I was not doing it correctly; as a direct result, my heel spur is gone. Also, she continually encouraged me to change my bad eating habits although I would not always follow her advise. Eventually, in most part due to her persistence, I finally began to start eating healthy and exercising. I am feeling better than I have been in a long time.\r \r I have recommend her highly to family and friends seeking medical attention. \r \r By the way, I love her office space. It is not a typical Dr's office that looks institutional. On the other hand the office is gorgeous with an Eastern decor. I do not mean to call anyone racist; however if you have something against Asian culture then you probably would not apreciate the beauty of this office.\r \r Happy New Year everyone and let us toast to good health in 2011.\r \r more

Unhygienic 5/13/2010

I am known to have severe allergies. I walked into her doctor's office in Midtown East... as I was filling up paperwork a cat brushed up against me. In addition to the unkempt working conditions for a doctor's office she made the assumption that I'm not religious and tried to coerce me to her church. When I attempted to explain my position on religion, she brushed it off to say her's was better. Am I seeing a doctor or a preacher?\r \r * this reviewer has be with this doctor for <6 months\r * this reviewer had 3 - 5 doctors before. Pros: Nice Cons: Unhygienic more

Attractive but terrible doctor 1/4/2010

The office doesn't resemble anything of a doctor's office. There was an old man trying to convince me to buy some vitamins and when I got to see her, she tried to convince me to go to her church and told me to stay away from the prescription I came for, yet she wrote me the same prescription she told me to stay away. At least she was hot. I'd go back again for prescriptions and to see if I'd get lucky with her. But definitely not for any legit medical reasons. Pros: She's hot, no wait Cons: Everything else more

I think she is a great Doctor 10/27/2009

I have lost 25lbs and my blood pressure is now better 118 over 75 ;for years it has been high and i have had to take meds to control it. I now have an exercise plan which she advised me about, and i feel and look 10 to 15 years younger than i am. Pros: she is careful to give the best advice for you more

Great Doctor 10/12/2009

I've been seeing Dr. Lee for nearly 10 years. For me there is no better Dr. anywhere. She has diagnosed and treated 3 severe issues for me where other traditional Doctors had failed and prevented 2 recommended surgeries. Yes, you have to listen to her talk about Christ but that is a small price to pay for feeling better. Are people really that simple and pathetic that this would actually bother them. She doesn't sweet talk you, ""poor you"", ""I know how hard it is"" nonsense. She says it like it is...I don't mind a little tough love. If all the Doctors did this a little maybe we wouldn't be such a sick nation. I remember her when her father did the blood pressure screening and there were 2 cats roaming around. All I cared about was that the gallbladder that the other doctors said needed to be removed was in fact ""cured"" in 3 weeks of her recommended treatment. The back that needed to be ""fused"" was pain free after 3 acupuncture sessions. I enjoy being told to lose weight and cut-out coffee and stop sitting on the couch giving in to temptations (junk food and beer). Its true and I need to be reminded. If I could actually follow her directions I am sure I would be a much more health and happy person. But as she points out the Devil (or is it the devil within) wins too often. For those who want to feel better go see her, everyone else, stop whining and go take 2 aspirin. I'll take a real cure any day. I recommend her to anyone and everyone. Pros: You will feel better or at least be amazed Cons: Visits can be long with the chatting more

Dr. Lee is delight ! 9/17/2009

Dr. Lee is a kind, gifted, devoted healer. Her roots in Korean and Eastern medicine and training in licensed massage therapy and acupunture, as well as her Smith College education, NYU Medical School training, make her a rare mix. She analyzes your lab work and total profile with care and intelligence and is willing to work with you on a wide array of problems that require thinking inside and outside of the box. If you want a doctor who is not just bored and fed up and out to pump you for money and whose ethics you may not be certain about, go ahead and see someone else! Pros: Really really cares about your case more

She needs a doctor.. 8/4/2009

This doctor is totally nuts, from the second I met her all she talked about was battling with the devil, and how unworthy we both were. She could care less about why I was there, then finally when we discussed my condition and how I treated it it in the past, she started screaming at me for taking med's that she didn't approve of, this was in between her yelling at me about drinking coffee. To make everything about the visit even crazier, she writes me prescriptions for exactly what she was screaming about 5 minutes ago. If you're ready for a surmon that lasts about 45 minutes before you can get anywhere then go see her, at the end of it all she will give you a script for whatever you want..but don't say I didn't warn you about this nut job!! more

nice person, negligent doctor 12/14/2008

Been to a few physicians in the city. Had great experiences with other area doctors. \r \r Dr. Namhi evangelized well but neglected her medical responsibility and had to be reminded repeatedly the reason for visit. Forgot important details of medical history covered during consultation. Recommended spiritual solution for medical problem. Patient became irritated after 20 min (honestly) of spiritual discussions and informed Dr. Namhi of the name and dosage to be prescribed. Dr. Namhi then wrote the script without questioning the patients diagnosis (really weird experience). \r \r Sadly, I'm concerned she hasn't had her license pulled by the state. She seems disinterested in her role as a medical doctor and more than willing to write a script for whatever the patient requests without any discussion of risks or alternatives courses of treatment. But if your looking for a push over physician in midtown who will write any script and fold like a cheap paper napkin, she's a good candidate. Pros: will write any script. no-one in waiting room. last minute appointments. Cons: no medical consultation. long religous discussions. more

CRAZY 10/2/2008

This lady is NUTS... I thought she would be a good doctor because she attended a reputable school (NYU) but NO.... she basically told me that I was ""in a spiritual war"" with myself, and that I needed to get saved by Jesus. She was unethical and frankly incoherent. Do NOT recommend this doctor. Pros: The waiting room was relaxing. Cons: She is crazy, and doesn't listen to anything you say. more

Horrible Experience 3/19/2006

Spent over an hour with me. You'd think that would be a good thing, but 45 minutes of that time she was telling me about her church and her life. On top of that what i went in for wasn't resolved. An overall bizzare experience. Pros: No Wait Cons: Unorthodox, Invited me to church, more
