Had a ton of fun here. From out of town and didn't realize Chicago had after hours bars. It was definitely well worth it!

Expected to find a great place with open minded people for dance. I'm one of the UK, London celebs - think that I know how to party, but what I've seen here was discouraging. Pupi...

Stay AWAY 9/13/2010

Entrance through a smelly alley, cover charge, and hugely overpriced drinks? No thank you - never again! more

Really bad service! 10/18/2009

The place is empty inside, the music is average but what bothered me the most is the staff. THe bouncers are EXTREMELLY rude as well as the people who work in the lower level. I lived in NY and even in the best clubs I had never had an experience like I had at "Le passage". Very sad to see how a place that was that cool is not the shadow of what it was. As for the bouncers/doormen, the owners should do something about it. Not worth my time! Pros: Used to be one of the best in town....not anymore Cons: Staff is EXTREMELLY RUDE! more

Avoid at all costs! 5/10/2009

I went to the Drawing Room at Le Passage on Saturday, May 9 night with a group of friends and had the worst dining out experience of my life. I ordered a salad as a starter and much to my horror, found a very large black insect in it! I immediately called over my waiter to take it away, and he sent over the manager. They were extremely embarrassed, to say the least, and very apologetic, claiming that "it came that way from the farm." Frankly, I don't care where it came from! The kitchen should have caught it in the washing and preparation process...which only tells me they did not wash the greens prior to serving. All they did in compensation was to offer my meal and one bottle of wine for free. To top it off, service was ridiculously slow (our meal lasted 3.5 hours), and the over-priced servings were so small that we all went away hungry. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Worst ever in Chicago...or anywhere in the world I've been, quite frankly. Avoid at all costs! Pros: decor Cons: insects in food, poor service more

WHATTT????!!! 2/11/2009

I have no idea what all these people are talking about! I have been to Le Passage many times in the since the the new owners have taken over. They must be angry and disillusioned thinking that they should get everything for free! I know the type, I REALLY have worked in the industry for a long time! and by "Industry" I mean clubs from Detroit to Miami to New York to Chicago. I know the type, I worked at "Applebee's for 2 months as a "bartender" so I know everything about the "Industry". Get real, every time I have been in there they have been super professional and I don't know anyone there!!!!! It is always a party and always fun, maybe next time step down off your soap box and realize everything is not handed to you... Go back to Applebee's you whiney brats Pros: drinks, service, party atmosphre, DJ's Cons: parking more

Will literally try to scam you! Don't ever go there! 1/24/2009

I have been to Le Passage when it first opened, back when it used to be great. Then it became horrible and I vowed to never go back. After hearing about the take over of 3headed productions I decided to give it another chance. The people AND staff were still trashy. On top of that when getting my tab for bottle service, the waitress AND GM tried to run an old scam on me! I caught it because I used to work as a bartender in undergrad. To make up for it they offered a free bottle the next time I return! There will never be a next time because that place is actually at it's worst! If you go there hide your wallet and do not trust the staff. Pros: NONE Cons: The staff will try to scam you if you get bottle service more

Not So Nice 9/20/2008

"I have been to Le Passage before and i loved it! So last night i decided to go there and celebrate my 25th birthday with my closest friends and family and they refused to let us in. And when i inquired she pretty much stated there were too many of us (black people). Now i am never paranoid about racism, i have never had issues before but when i took her to the side to really try to understand she pretty much told me its just the way things are, I am sorry but i will never go back there and will never recommend a place that discriminates against your skin color. And i am sure you will all have your assumptions and opinions but she was pretty blunt about it because she had nothing else to complain about, we were all dressed beautifully, we were courteous and been patient. I guess some things in this world will never change. LONG STORY SHORT LE PASSAGE DOES NOT WANT BLACK PEOPLE IN THEIR CLUB" more

Are you kidding me? 11/28/2007

I would have to agree with the person who wrote "Le Piece of S**&". I was in there last night and it absolutely blew. I mean really? who are they kidding? Its $$$$$ for the following: crappy service, atrocious management, poorly made drinks and terribly snobby crowd. why waste your money? go somewhere fun. not to mention someone fell down a stairwell and got injured. i'd be surprised if this place stayed in business after that person sues them. good luck if you go there. i recommend taking your hard earned money somewhere else. oh, we had appetizers and they were mediocre at best - came out cold and rubbery. more

Never, ever go here. It is absolutely horrific. Service is terrible, drinks are weak but cost $15 and the staff was rude. I spoke to the "manager" - some douche with a super gay tattoo on his arm and he was just not helpful in the least . We were being over charged and he did nothing about it. Not wanting to stay beyond what was already a horrible time I just paid the tab and left. BOTTOM LINE STAY AWAY IT STILL STINKS! Pros: nice bathroom attendant Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE ESPECIALLY MANAGEMENT more

posh crowd..nice decor 10/29/2007

Le passage re-opening as Le passage dicotheque and the drawing room completely blew me away in the best sense possible. I like it much better than underground, rino and j bar. The crowd as hot, and the prices were resonable... I think the official reopening to the public is november 9th..its open till 4 am and 5 am on saturdays.. what was really cool about it was that it was linked with The Drawing Room which was a culinary cocktail lounge... there were lots of very beautiful ladies there..and well dress men as well Pros: ambience, parking, service, good looking people, decor, food was really well prepared Cons: a bit expensive, but worth it.. more

Ehhhhhh...meh. 1/18/2007

It's okay. I used to go here a lot, like, 4 years ago. I went again recently, and this place feels like, well, 4 years ago. You know a club isn't cutting edge anymore when all the "Chicago celebs" are skulking around it every weekend. Sorry, Jeremy Piven, but I won't be going here again. Pros: Maybe you'll get groped by a drunk David Schwimmer! Oh boy!! Cons: see above more

Consistently good 11/10/2006

I've tried many of the new "hot" clubs and I always find myself coming back to Le Passage. The decor is amazing, the crowd pretty and the drinks good and strong! I love their DJs, and the beautiful staff lack the attitude so typical of other clubs. Pros: ambience, staff Cons: gross old men more

Just ok 9/16/2006

I went on a saturday night for a birthday. We had table service (which i always recommend anywhere you go). We paid no cover charge, and were taken to our table right away, no wait at all. Very mixed crowd, all types of people and all ages. Great table service, never ran out of anything and always clean. OK music, kinda really crowded dance floor. Other than that, I had no lasting impression. more

Le piece of %#$* 9/13/2006

From the second my group and I walked through we were treated like %&#@ First the cover is way too high @ $20 then they charged me for too many people and refused to credit me back. From the management on down me and my party were treated horrible. We decided to stop arguning and try and have fun and deal with our problem another day. Upon enter the club we couldn't move it was so crowded drinks were ungodly expensive and the service was awful. I like a really nice trendy club every now and then but there is a fine line between a good club and some L.A. wanna-be's like these douche's. more

good vibe 6/21/2006

I heard both good and bad things about the club so I decided to check it out with some friends. We had a good time. Good vibe, the crowd looked about 25 and up, mostly attractive people and everybody actually dressed up which is not as common as it should be. The music was good, nice blend of whats hot on the charts and some classics. I heard from friends that they cut songs off in the middle and go to the next one, but I didnt notice I guess I had fun and the switches were not obnoxious. The cover is a bit pricey- $20, drinks as well- about $7 for a shot (most clubs charge $5). The staff and bouncers were nice and polite. A dance floor is a bit small but overall if you want to have fun you will. Pros: good vibe Cons: pricey more

Rude people and horrible service 5/23/2006

This place is the worst place to go where the staff are incredibly rude and they don't even care that you if you complain. This place may have been trendy years ago but now they are so full of themselves that its just not worth going there anymore when there are so many other places to go in the city. Even the people who work there as well keep leaving because even they think its a horrible place to work! If you're a guy trying to get in with a group of guys, good luck trying to get in because they will never let you in, and on top of that they will ask you if you are on the guest list. What guest list?? I don't recommend going here if you want to have a good time with your friends. Too many bad experiences here. Pros: crowded, lounge, good music Cons: expensive, rude more

I had fun 5/6/2006

I'm new to chicago, this place was happening and fun. The $20 cover was a bit steep, but I still had a good time. If you like techno, this is a good place to go. Pros: cool atmosphere Cons: $20 cover more

Worst Experience Ever!!! 4/3/2006

Do not go here if you are young and looking for a good time. They allow anyone, and I mean ANYONE into this club. We paid $20 to get in, only to find people my parents age and older jammin on the dancefloor. It was the lamest experience I have ever had in Chicago. Don't waste your time or money is this place. Cons: Ancient Clientele, Expensive, Crowded more

Perhaps I will give it a 2nd try.... 3/26/2006

I wanted to give this establishment a try after hearing all the craze and reading reviews. I did the entire bottle service which guaranteed me a table during a quite busy night...prices were typical I thought, the service was absolutely terrible, music quite mundane, and dancing very scarce. As the night began to conclude, we had to change tables, and then our bottle was vehemently taken away from us. Perhaps I am not used to places advertising they close at 4, but in reality it is 3:15?? more

Great Club: 9/4/2005

Le Passage is one of the most trendiest clubs in Chicago. Great Music, Atmosphere and Yes, the audience is good. The best way to get in is to make resreavtions and get a table. Spend 300 with a group of friends you will have a great time. Pros: Music, Clean Restrooms Cons: No Phone Reception more

  • The Scene
Through an alley lined with palm fronds, down a dark staircase, the club-restaurant offers a sumptuous, gilded Gold Coast hideaway. Thick pillars throughout are painted with 21-karat gold, as is the artist-designed wallpaper. The dance floor is nice enough--a roomy, wood-paneled enclave--but the real attraction is the Yow Bar, named after Yow Low, the famous bartender from Trader Vic's.

    The Draw
The dining crowd skews older than the usual club scenesters, while the line for Yow Bar (which snakes through the club) is full of flashy fashion plates. Classic French fare and upscale meat and potatoes define the food menu, the meat being braised duck (the house specialty, terrific and sweet) and the potatoes crisp pommes frites. Seasonal preparations of foie gras and lobster salad (served with tender fingerling potatoes) also shine, and the raspberry-chocolate terrine is breathtaking.
