The setting was comfortable and perfect for a date. I found the staff educated about the selection of wine. I will be going back to this place. Cheers!

quite possibly the worst wine bar in UES... inconsistencies in menu pricing, overpriced wines, and to top it off rude service... after review of bill and noting the incorrect prices for glasses, the server wasn't even apologetic... a do not go in my books! more

Love it here! 12/12/2010

Was in NYC for a weekend with some girlfriends. One of them recommended this place and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The food was delicious and it was the perfect setting for friends to have some wine and catch up! The staff was helpful, courteous and knowledgeable about the wine and food menus. more

Best Upper East Side Wine Bar 9/30/2010

Absolutely love this place. If the owner, Carlos, is there, he knows each wine intimately and makes great recommendations. He remembers what you like and bases his recommendations on what you've enjoyed in the past. The lounge atmosphere, soft lighting and eclectic music mix complement the excellent wines. Never had the first bite of food here, so I can't comment on that. The wine selection generally starts at about $10-$12 a glass and goes up from there. But if you want a great glass or two in a great atmosphere, you will not find better in the neighborhood. more

Excellent spot for wine and romance 1/8/2010

Especially loved the music and relaxed atmosphere...we went on a Thursday around 8 and it was not crowded, which was a welcome surprise. The wine stewardess was very helpful and attentive...we will definitely be back for the souffle! Pros: Extensive wine list...don't have to be a connoisseur more

Impeccable wines, great service, fantastic music, romantic ambiance, great looking bartenders! 2/28/2009

I live nearby and this best-kept secret of the Upper East Side has quickly become a regular spot for me. Every time I come in the lovely bartenders are attentive and take great care of me and my guests. Carlos the owner has a dynamic wine and cheese list that is chosen/influenced by all of us regulars who come in. Pros: Wine selection, ambiance, music, bartenders, service Cons: Limited food and specialty beer selection more

Having never written a review before, you can imagine how poor my experience had to be in order for me to take the time to do so. My husband and I were really looking forward to an after-work drink at Rendez-vous. The poor experience started the moment we got there. We arrived at 5:45pm, and the bartender was still setting up despite having been open since 5:00pm. The place was EMPTY - we were the only ones there. You would think this situation would give us better service - WRONG. I had to go up to the bar to place the order, the pour on the wine flight was incredibly weak (MAYBE an ounce each), very overpriced and she never came back to check on us again. We also heard about the complimentary cheese and crackers - NOPE. We would have had to order a $16 plate if we wanted anything. At 6:00pm, the bartender's food arrived from a take-out place, so maybe this is why she didn't attend to us. All in all, it was definitely not worth the visit. With a baby at home, we have limited opportunities for us to have alone time, therefore we pick our locations very discreetly. We chose Rendez-vous based on the comments we read here and another site. It makes me believe that the store's owner and employees went online and wrote those reviews themselves. Too bad...we love wine bars, but will never be back to this one. more

My favorite wine bar in the city! 8/10/2008

I stumbled across this place and boy am I glad I did. The ambiance is beautiful, the service was spectacular, the wine list amazingly unique. I sampled at least 3 wines before deciding to go with the syrah. It was delicious. The bartender told me the wine list is ever changing and expanding as well as their food menu. The do offer a cheese plate and are working on more to come soon. They only opened 8 months ago and already the regulars swear by it. I will definitely be back! Great music choices!! Pros: The music, the wines, the service more

tapas? nope. 6/19/2008

I was really excited to go to le rendez-vous. I live in the neighborhood, love wine bars, and had seen through the windows that this was a great space with cute seating in the back. I was beyond disappointed with my experience. To start, the wine was overpriced. Right here on citysearch I read that the wine bar has tapas, mexican guacamole, and a gourmet menu. The only food offering was a cheese plate. Our waitress took about a half hour to show up with the cheese plate, and it was only tiny scraps of a few cheeses you can find in Gristedes- in fact, I think the reason it took her so long to give it to us was because she had to go out to buy the cheese. She did apologize for everything taking a very long time, but her excuse was that they were short-staffed. How much staff do you need when there are 4 people in a bar that serves only wine and a disgrace of a cheese plate? Really, just one person. What was taking her so long to get our wine and cheese? She was friendly, but she wasn't busy. Pros: good wine selection, cute seating area Cons: horrible food options, extremely slow service more

Fantastic Wine Bar 12/20/2007

Nothing about the unpretentious location or simple sidewalk advertising of Le Rendez-vous screams ?Hot Spot!? But this demure wine bar is truly a gem. Offering an array of international wines and a comfortable, classy atmosphere, it?s the perfect spot for a casual starter drink or, ahem, a late night rendezvous. Never tried a Malbec? I would say, ?Shame on you.? Luckily, Carlos (the owner) doesn?t share my snobbish attitude. He?ll open a fresh bottle and offer you a taste, commitment-free. Though it might sound like a cliche, in a sea of Upper East Side dive bars, this place is a breath of fresh air. more

Le Rendez_vous is a warm and cozy wine bar. The crowd is diverse and friendly-- I find myself peaking into the window every time I pass by. The owner, Carlos, treats you like a long time friend. The Italian, French, Spanish, and Argentine wines are spectacular. To top it off, the bartender provides a complementary cheese and cracker plate to go with your wine :) Every time I go in there for one drink, I end up staying for hours!! Pros: Great wine, great service, great atmosphere more
