Editorial review from Citysearch 7/25/2012

I have been going here for a couple of years and never experienced the bad service described below. I am an avid reviewer with Yelllp, but sometimes I see reviewers who get mad leave multiple bad reviews which I find destroys real opinions. It really ruins credibility for the 3 reviews that were within the same 2 weeks of each other, posted by ""someone"" who had also started their accounts here within the same couple of weeks. VERY suspicious! I'd go with the top reviewer and the bottom reviewer to get a more balanced perspective. The cakes are wonderful, I've had my 2 boys in with me several times and never received complaints-I also expect them to be on good behavior like any restaurant etc. Is that too much to ask? Apparently for the 1 customer who took offense for someone else and made a deal out of something when she had no idea what actually happened. I believe some of the pastries are delish, while others are OK. The cakes on the other had are OMG to DIE for! My uncle was a chef and he also HIGHLY recommends this place! Definitely recommended. +++ more

Irrational 8/7/2007

I have visited this establishment several times and have found the pastries to be quite good but over priced. On my last visit when I entered the shop the owner was seated at a window table reading the paper. There were 3 teenage girls waiting customers. I was the third customer. One customer was finishing. The second customer wasn?t sure what she wanted and had many questions. My wife and I decided on the Fraser Cake and the young girl boxed it up. She then told me I would need to go to the register to be checked out. It appears that the only girl to work the register was the one caring for the customer who couldn?t make up her mind. We stood waiting while two of the three girls stood talking and the owner read her paper. After a few minutes of this my wife and I decided we weren?t going to pay $22.00 for a cake and bad service. As we were getting in our car the owner had followed us to our car telling us ?What is the problem you were next? When I told her we had been waiting and no longer wanted to do business with her she said ?Your Irrational?. For me the rational thing to do was find another bakery? Pros: Good Pastries Cons: Really Bad Service more

Terribly Rude Atmosphere 8/4/2007

Upon my first and last visit to this little bakery I initially thought I was the unsuspecting participant of a practical joke but it turns out they really are this unreasonably rude. On the way in I passed some ladies commenting on how discourteous a lady behind the counter was. To be fair the pastries look and taste amazing but I too couldn?t understand the owner?s attitude - at least I assume it was the owner as she berated and fired some poor girl right in front of me. Then, seeing a shiny new La Morocco espresso machine and Caffe Vita beans (a wonderful Seattle based roaster), I politely requested a macchiato. She refused to make one and after several courteous attempts I made and explanations I gave, she forced an espresso on me and snatched my money up like she was doing me some real favor. I figured it was just a bad day for them but recently laughed with my friend where they experienced similarly absurd behavior. So if you can put up with all the fussiness a slice of cake is good but heed this cautionary tale if you?re considering relying on these guys for catering or other big events. Pros: Good Cakes Cons: Outwardly rude more

No Cake for You! 3/7/2007

Do you remember the episode of Seinfeld where the owner refused to sell soup to people who didn't obey his rules? Well, here's an experience that comes close. Pros: Great pastries and cakes Cons: Service is non-existence more
