I Found Larry's By Accident 1/21/2008

What a treat! I've done the South Street thing many times, but when I had a convention to attend in the Adams Mark and didn't really want to drive all the way into Philly to grab me a sandwich, I just drove and found Larry's. As authentic as it gets, with out the tourist trap. THIS is what a sandwich shop should be. Old, established, experienced, and excellent. 5 stars all the way. Pros: The food Cons: None. more

Worse taste in philly 1/13/2008

The WORSE service (after pats and genos) comes from the staff at Larrys steaks......it felt like they were doing me and my friends a favor for patronize them........the meat was DRY no TASTE to it they had 30 pounds of meat on the griddle (unlike other places in philly where they make their steaks one at time) i will never spent another dime there......i feel sorry for SJU students if thats their only choice around campus. Pros: not at all Cons: yuk more

Best Steaks In Philly 6/26/2007

This place has the best cheese steaks in all Philly, forget those tourist places Geno's and Pat's. Both bad reviews on here don't even make any sense. Of course something will be soggy if you drive all the way back to DC with it.... And I have never gotten a dry steak from there and I live down the street and go all the time. I have also never had a problem with them ""not speaking English."" They have great service and a nice atmosphere. They even have a giant TV in there for everyone to watch... Not to forget to mention once again.. their cheese steaks. Pros: Cheesesteaks Cons: Sometimes when the St. Joe's students are around they get annoying. Only reason this didn't get a ""5"" for ambience. more

ARE YOU KIDDING? 10/8/2006

ANYONE WHO GIVES THIS PLACE A GOOD REVIEW REALLY HAS - NO - TASEBUDS. Cons: DRY AND NO FLAVOR more

Not to be missed 6/11/2006

This was MY place for cheesesteaks growing up, and I still must have one every time I'm back in Philly. It's MUCH cleaner than it used to be, and the staff is much more business-like, but the food is as good as ever. Chicken cheese steaks here are as good as the regular ones. Pros: Food, food, food. Parking Cons: NOTHING else nearby worth visiting. more

The BEST!! 5/13/2006

In town for a show, I took my wife and son to Larry's. One bellyfiller for my 16-year old, one for my missus and I to split. I barely got through my half and look over and my son's is GONE! He says, ""That was good."" I asked if he wanted more and he said, ""Yes."" Regular cheesesteak this time and he hammered that! The next day, we went back for the same ritual only this time, my wife said, ""Time him to see how long it takes."" Seven minutes, forty-seven seconds later, he had demolished another Larry's Belly Filler Cheesesteak and THEN hit another regular after that. Talk about the frivolity of youth! We'll be back in November! See you then! Pros: The Steaks... more

Not For Out of Towners 1/11/2006

I went to Larry's on the recommendation of a friend and knowing I could get my sandwiches ""TO GO"" and back safely to D.C. I placed the order for 6-7 subs, all ""TO GO"". Upon arriving in D.C. and opening the subs the next morning, ALL were soggy, none had the wrap to stop the lettuce & tomato from ruining the bread. VERY, VERY disapointed. I even faxed the restaurant in hopes of hearing from the Manager....NOTHING. Will NOT spend my money there again. Pros: Cheap, Average Price in area Cons: Non-English speaking, Orders not TO GO more

Long Time Patron 10/11/2005

Whenever I come home to Philly.....Larry's is a place that I always visit! I grew up on that place and there is none better! The food is great the people are wonderful, and the price is right. Pros: location/staff, service/food, price/price more

Cheesesteaks 12/21/2004

This is an awesome place for cheesesteaks in Philly. Very good food for very little money -- you get much more than what you pay for (good to come hungry!). Plasma TVs and interior decor are excellent. Bathrooms aren't spectacular and sometimes there is a short wait, but its well worth it. The only reason people wait in line is because its so great! Pros: Interior Decor, Service Quality, Cheap Good Value 4 $ Cons: , Service Time, Long Line more

The Best Cheesesteak. Ever. 10/14/2004

I've been to Geno's and Pat's and other cheesesteak places but Larry's cheesesteaks are simply the best. Larry's attracts diverse crowds from all over (especially St. Joe's) and for good reason. These cheesesteaks are gigantic. One is enough to split for two people. Their cheesesteaks are not too greasy, too tough or soft. The provolone cheese just melts into the beef. Once you take a bite of a Larry's cheesesteak, you will be in heaven. Try the cheesefries too. Larry's, Home of the Belly Fillers, is the spot where informed Philadelphians go. Finally, a cheesesteak place that is not a tourist attraction! Pros: Cheesesteak, Inexpensive, Open Late more

The Ultimate Cheese Steak 7/12/2004

Larry's Steaks & Hoagies is where the informed go to get the BEST cheese steaks in the Philly area. Every time I leave the City, a stop off City-Line Ave is on my mind. If you want to pay for a name, go to to South Philly like all the palookas. If you want an unbeatable cheese steak, go to Larry's and get a great Cheese Steak made any way you want. Pros: Taste, Cooked to Order, Price more

The Steaks are just what your are looking for. No slabs of flanks steaks slapped on some buns and called a cheesesteak(GENO's) chopped, seasoned and cooked to uour desire.... you definitely can haveit your way here. Not to mention the steaks are ENOMOURSLY GOOD.. and that goes for the chicken and beef steak. more

Home of the Bellyfiller 5/30/2002

Larry's is a great place for cheezsteaks. it's right near St Joes so it draws a lot of college kids. It's home of the Bellyfiller which means the steak is so big you'll be lucky to finish it more
