I love Cookies!! 1/18/2012

Caramel Lovers!! Most amazing macaroons with a caramel filled center. The cookie was good, but once I reached the middle and realized that the center was a ball of caramel and no other filling to dilute it I was lovin’ life! Plus La Provence Has a menu that is out of this world. Great place to meet for lunch and catch up with friends. more

Best Cafe In Town 8/22/2011

This French Cafe is so delicious!! I love the macaroons and the red velvet cupcakes! Everything tastes wonderful and there is a big selection of pastry items to choose from. I love coming here for breakfast and enjoying a nice cup of coffee before heading to work, or even at lunch for a yummy sandwich and pastry! \r more

Everything is the best 12/22/2010

We've never had a bad meal here. The tuna made without may is the best. more

best upscale cafe in town 10/3/2009

I was impressed by the attentive staff and beautiful pastries. The new location in Brentwood on San Vincente offers Intelligensia coffee, which is my favorite in LA. The goat cheese, asparagus and portabella mushroom omelette was the best omelette I have ever had, hands down. Pros: great food selection all day more

Best Pastries around! 11/3/2008

I tried a wide array of the pastries here that the owner reccommend for me and I have to say they are probably some of the best desserts I have ever had. I tried the fruit tarts which were burst of freshness in your mouth. I also had the cupcakes which very moist and fresh. I am very impressed and will be back to try the lunch. Pros: Great Desserts! more

In reply to the reviewer who ate the cupcake and then ran... 9/1/2008

The reviewer who ate the cupcake and left without paying and then proceeded to diss this French bakery needs to read ""French or Foe"" by Polly Platt and get educated to French culture. more

Hidden French Bakery 10/29/2007

You really would never notice La Provence just driving by it. I used to live down the street so I was able to stumble upon this charming place. Ignore the strip mall facade, order in the quick line and then grab a table outside. The food never dissapoints: fresh and delicious with innovative daily specials. The coffee is good and strong and the baked goods, including cup cakes and macaroons, rival any other's. In fact, I was once addicted to their coconut and red velvet cupcakes which are both very moist and not too sweet. I've since moved so I don't go to La Provence as often. And I've managed to drop the extra cup cake weight. However, they are opening a second location around the corner from my new home this Fall so I must learn to restrain myself. Another great thing about this place is the inventory of gifts. In a pinch you can pick up a candle or a cake stand as a gift. I also found a pair of antique salt and pepper shakers here that I've never seen anyplace else. Pros: Scrumptious cupcakes, gift store, convenient parking Cons: Can be crowded more

Fantastic French fare! 8/21/2007

The service is sketchy, sure, but it's a French establishment?whaddaya expect? Look past it because the food and pastries are absolutely worth it. The quiche Lorraine is the best I've ever had; it's massive, and the crust is flaky and delicious, and the filling is eggy and light, not runny and heavy. Soooo good, I highly recommend it. Everything else I've tried there, including the steak panini, turkey chili with bread and grilled veggie sandwich, have also been excellent. Their baguettes are perfect, too, firm and toasty on the outside, but not so firm that it'll tear up the roof of your mouth while you you're eating. And with those pastries and cupcakes, they could give Sprinkles and Buttercake Bakery a run for their money. YUM. Try it at least once. more

Poor Customer Service 8/9/2007

First time posting because I'm very frustrated.... I am not familiar with LA Provence but was making an effort to become so based predominatly on the reviews found on Citysearch. Unfortunatly the owner (?), Farshid, needs a class in communication. On top of not returning phone calls in a timely manner if at all I found it extremly difficult to get a quote for him. I was looking to find out what could be provided with a budget of $250.00. He kept questioning for how many people. At which he proceeded to inform me that based on the # of people my request could not be filled. Unfortunatly I was not asking how much it would cost to feed # of people I was asking what I could get for $250. All in all I was extremly dissappointed in the customer service. Curently at my place of employment we go through Sussina Bakery and are extremly pleased but we were looking to change it up a bit. At Sussina we have a standing order for breakfast delivery. I guess our money is no good at La Provence go to Sussina they will take care of you. Cons: Farshid more

Scrumptious breakfast 7/11/2007

We walk here for breakfast whenever we get the chance, although I recently found out that they also have a parking garage below the building which is free with validation. They have great breakfast options - breakfast paninis, omelettes, etc. They also have incredible bakery items including no-fat muffins in great flavors. And, many of the breakfasts come with bread and an incredible raspberry jam - it's worth going just for the jam! more

Scrumptious macaroons, inconsistent waitstaff 10/18/2006

This place has excellent freshly baked macaroons! There are many flavors to choose from (pistachio, vanilla, rose, etc), but vanilla is my favorite. The sandwiches on the baguettes are delicious, fresh, and made with high-quality ingredients. There are many baked goods to choose from (even the non-fat chocolate muffin looked good) but my only complaint is the courtesy of the staff and the timeliness of their service. You have to literally flag them down in order to get your order (or less you'll be waiting forever!). If you're ordering ""to go"", make sure you check in with the servers or else it's highly likely that your order is just sitting on the counter. Otherwise, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for great coffee and breakfast/lunch-y type food. Pros: Food, parking, freshness Cons: service more

ITS LIKE BEING IN FRANCE BUT NOT HAVING TO BUY A PLANE TICKET 9/24/2006

THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC. I USE TO LIVE IN PARIS AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THE FOOD, PASTRIES AND AMBIENCE AT THIS CAFE BEATS ANY EXPERIENCE I HAD IN FRANCE. THIS PLACE IS TRULY A GEM IN THE CITY. THE MENU IS EXTENSIVE, THE STAFF IS SO NICE AND THE FOOD IS JUST INCREDIBLE NOT TO MENTION THE CAKES AND PASTRIES WHICH MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!!!!\r \r WOW ALERT FOR BRAD PITT FANS!!!!!! I always see celebrities at this place but just the other day I saw BRAD PITT at La Provence Cafe eating a macaron. more

My favorite casual restaurant..sooo yummy 10/15/2005

This place is awesome. I've tried a few sandwiches and they are all delicious. I'm a very picky eater so that says a lot. All the soups are delicious. I would recommend this place over any fancy restaurant anytime. It's a very casual place. There's plenty of free parking in the lower parking garage. A definite must try restaurant. more

BLACK & WHITE CAKE 7/1/2003

I saw someone celebrating a birthday and I had to know where the cake was from... Needless to say the waiter gave me bad information. So I searched the city by any means necessary. After a month of a serious search. I found it!!! So impressive it was worth the search. It's a must if your trying to impress! more
