Mexican-American Food at its best 10/29/2009

I will never go back 9/20/2009

We have always ate at La Frontera and loved the food. Today we placed a to go order and didn't receive all of our food, but was charged for all of the food. When I called up the manager said that we were not charged for everything and that it was $16 for 2 orders of rice and beans. The meals we ordered were the same items we always order and the same amount we are always charged when eating in the restaurant. Basically, they are saying the charges are a different price when you place a to go order. It is ridiculous. more

proof that people are happy with mediocrity 9/16/2009

seeing that this restaurant has such high reviews makes me lose faith in the reviews on this site, and also probably in humanity in general. Did all the employees all just sign up and give reviews?\r The salsa is nothing but cambells tomato soup seasoned with red pepper flakes. It's given to you in a squirt bottle! My wife had a chicken dish with meat as dark and flavorful as a rodent. We had guests with us from out of town, and we were so embarassed to have taken them to this place. To see such good reviews for this restaraunt is simply astonishing. Please people, do yourself a favor and take the trip to Logan and try El Toro Viejo; however, if you are satisfied with the swill offered at La Frontera, there may be too much flavor for you at a good Mexican restaurant. Pros: there's a lot of locations Cons: awful food more

Best Chile ""Verde"" Smothered Burrito 4/28/2009

This review will be short and sweet - I only get one thing when I go to La Frontera, and that one thing is the Smothered Burrito with Cheese. It's only like $4.50, it's hecka good, it's fast, and with a basket of chips it'll fill you up to overflowing.\r \r The chips are good, and have some weird red seasoning salt on them (shows they're at least making an effort). The salsa is definitely terrible, but if you keep going back for the smothered burrito, you'll find that you can tolerate it (and you'll even begin to enjoy it after a while). It's kind of like Little Caesar's Crazy Sauce with a bunch of crushed red pepper (not awesome, but it's not really trying to be awesome).\r \r Their guacamole is very good, topped with tomatoes and olives.\r \r The rest of the food is so-so. Cheese enchiladas are... well... cheese enchiladas. Taquitos have dry blah boiled-flavored chicken. Tacos are nothing special.\r \r Just go for the Smothered Burrito with Cheese. Please note: the Chile Verde should actually be Chile Anaranjado or something, because it's actually more orange looking than green, but it's still the best chile verde in the valley. \r \r Finally: the rice and beans are a perfect compliment to the smothered burrito, espeically when the chile verde mixes with the rice/beans. GREAT with a basket of chips. Pros: Smothered Burrito with Cheese Cons: Everything Else more

BEST MEXICAN EVER!! 5/3/2008

I love La Frontera. I live in West Valley and my family and friends have been going there ever since we can remember! The people who say the service is bad are wrong. All of the servers speak english, they don't leave you waiting for a refill or more chips. They have by far the best smothered burrito and cheese enchiladas I've ever had. Their chips and salsa are very hard to stop eating!!! And one thing the reviews havent mentioned is their mexi fries which are also delicious!! If you are in the mood for mexican, La Frontera should be your first choice!! If you don't like the service or the resteraunt you can also get take out! more

Must have Smothered Burritos 8/21/2006

Service can be difficult, since few of the waiters/waitresses speak english, but their smothered burritos are the best in the Valley. Their Chili Verde is to die for. Also you can order take out, which is great if you don't want to sit there and wait for a seat. I have always been seated quickly, even on Friday nights. Get the Two Smothered Burritos with Rice and Beans, it's the best meal there. Plus they have CERVEZA!!! Pros: Awesome food Cons: poor sefvice, little dirty more

BETTER THAN HOME-MADE COOKING. 3/4/2006

My mother stopped cooking 9 years ago and since then she has forced us to seek other measures such as finding mexican food that could match my mothers? Well, Lafrontera makes the best Chili-Verde smothered burritoes and yes, better than my moms cooking I swear. You need to try their Large Combo-Platter which has a little of everything and take your family because they wont believe unless they experience first-hand ""La Frontera"" SECOND TO NONE, I SWEAR. Pros: VALUE, SERVICE, AFFORDABLE Cons: LIMITED PARKING more

Fast and yummy 9/2/2005

La Frontera is my favorite Mexican restaurant. It's a touch loud but mostly because it's always busy. Seating and service is FAST! Smotherred burrito which cheese and side-salad is the best! They have bottled sassparilla and it's one of the only places (restaurant or store) that serves this kind and it's delicious! Pros: Fast service, Good food Cons: noisy more

LaFrontera you are the best!! 6/17/2004

I think LaFrontera is wonderful and I miss you guys so much! I lived in Tanglewoods next door to this place in Utah and now I live in Tenn....we don't have places like you here. What I wouldnt give for some Chili Verde and salsa right now! Love ya all and soon as I come back to visit I will come see you. Thanks Lots Reba Pros: Inexpensive, great service, great food more

Who cares about service 5/22/2004

Although the service is terrible and the waiters are grumpy I still love this place. The food is great and the price is very good, and made even better by the fact that I'm not inclined to leave a generous tip. Pros: Great Food, Cheap more

Excellent 5/17/2004

La frontera has easily the best chile verde in utah without a doubt. The chips and salsa are great. And the service is always fast with all bilingual servers. They also have the best and fattest tortillas in the city they give you the best and most food for you buck easily. Pros: great food, very inexpensive, fast service more

Absolutely the BEST! 11/10/2003

The food is absolutely the best Mexican food you will ever have. The portions are huge, and the service is fast. I personally don't need the waiter to be my best friend so the language barrier and lack of chit chat by the waiters is fine with me. We don't live in Utah anymore, and one of the things we miss the most is La Frontera food. Whenever we visit, we always stop in and buy a big container of the Chile Verde to freeze and take home with us. Yes, it's THAT DELICIOUS! Pros: Large Portions, Great Flavor, Reasonable Prices more

Salsa 9/20/2003

Salsa? Salsa doesn't get squeezed out of ketchup bottle! I don't know what it is, but it ain't salsa! Also, while the food tastes alright, it's a poor value. Most of the entrees don't have meat and are rather small. Bean and cheese this, cheese that. Nah. Pros: Tastes alright. Cons: Squeeze bottle salsa!, Restaurant smells. more

Fast service, Great Food 10/6/2002

The waiters and waitresses may not be very friendly and talkative but the service is very fast and they have excellent mexican food. Pros: Fast, Tasty Cons: impolite more

Customer Service Stinks 6/24/2002

The food at La Frontera is so - so, but the customer service stinks! First, they won't write up separate checks when several people are dining. Then when you get to the cashier, they won't separate out the check so each person can pay their own bill. This is awful service and a significant language barrier with the cashier(s) doesn't help the situation. I'll seek better Mexican food elsewhere. Cons: poor customer service more
