Awful, awful customer service. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. They are rude and do not care about their customers. For a salon with such high prices, I expect far, far better treatment. They are not doctors who have life-saving surgeries to perform, yet they cannot be bothered to take the time to ensure customer satisfaction. The first time I went, I left hating my hair- the cut and the color- because the stylist did not do AT ALL what I asked for. The second time, my appointment was cancelled after I called to say I was running late. \r \r I will never go back and would discourage anyone from giving them business. There are much, much better salons in the area who are friendly, respectful, and do a far better job. more

First things first they are not closed. I was there this week and highly enjoyed my experience. I indulged myself for my bday and left feeling very pampered and relaxed. From the delicious tea they offered in the waiting area (which i bought by the way) to the in depth consultation i received before my wonderful facial, every one was top notch. I can't wait to visit again and try something new. more

The staff at the Washington Rd location needs to lose the attitude. Received the worst manicure I've ever had today. My nails are still smudging after I had them redone by the nail tech once already, and now, I will redo them myself. more

Suprise! Suprise! 10/28/2010

If you are into aroma therapy as your basis for treatment and skill levels.... plus prices then enjoy the LaPompnne in Mt Lebanon!\r \r The facials for $85 @60 min are terrific and waxing for $15 dollars each for lip, eyebrows and chin. A regular manicure and pedicure $70 is a bit much. Polish on fingernails chipped three days after treatment?\r \r The atmosphere is great; however; the receptionist has got to learn, she does not reach into the ""Personal space of a customer"" by extracting an old price list!"" She discovered it in a gift certificate envelope then reached into the envelope, immediately discarded it and replaced it with new gift card and price list. WHY WOULD YOU CHARGE A PERSON $200 AND NO RECIPT OF SERVICES OR PURCHASES???\r Interesting??? more

Overall fantastic experience! 5/18/2010

I had a wonderful experience at La Pomponnee! As soon as I walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and personable. They gave me great individualized attention and made me feel very comfortable. I got a bikini wax, and Jayne did a fantastic job! She was very quick and even explained proper skin care between appointments. I would definitely go back and recommend La Pomponnee to anyone! There is also a parking garage right next door, which was very convenient. Hands down, a great spa experience. Pros: Great personalized service and relaxing atmosphere more

I {heart} the Waterdam location 11/2/2009

I have had wonderful massages at the Waterdam location. I had previously gotten my haircut at high end salons downtown and in Shadyside, and Jessica is even better than them! To make matters even better, I now pay only about 50% of what I used to for a cut. Color prices compare to downtown, but overall, still a great experience. Pros: inexpensive haircuts; fresh styling; great massages Cons: pedicures very hit or miss, different nail tech every time more

I guess not everyone is greatfull for these wonderfull luxeries and pleasent experiences. Pros: fantastic place Cons: that you have to drive yourself home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Worts pedicure ever 7/17/2009

I received a special gift for my b-day and a suprise pedicure. The lady who took us to the waiting room was rude and did not offer my daughter a drink just me. She was very cold and snotty. The woman who did the pedi was very sweet, but couldn't do a pedi to save her life. They did not clean under the nails, did not paint all of the nail, did rush me through parts of the pedi and only was really good at the massage and she got my child a drink. My foot was cracking and peeling the next day. I am in the field so I didn't want to cause any problems. However, this lady called to see how it was for first time clients. I told her how unhappy I was and she said well we just wanted to see so when their reviews come up this will be mentioned. She never tried to rectify the situation and in my salon we would never let someone leave or hear that they were unhappy and let them leave. Oh and the looks that you get from the snobby staff was not worth it either. Go see Mark downtown at Macy's for $40.00 and you will get the best pedi ever. Pros: pedicurist was nice Cons: Ruthless money hungry and don't care if you are satisfied or more

great place to go 2/2/2009

great place to go, could be a little more ""homier"". More and comfortable seating...softer lighting...other than that i highly recommend it. Cons: not comfortable enough more

I also got laughed at when trying to make an appt.! 10/12/2008

I had the same experience as ""KittyBart"", who posted a few posts down the page. I got a gift certificate for my bridal shower, and thought I would go get a manicure. When I called about making an appointment sometime in the next couple of weeks, I got laughed at and said it would be at least a month wait. The woman on the phone was so condescending and rude! Needless to say, I didn't make an appointment. If that's what their first impression is on the phone, I don't need to be insulted in person! Unfortunately, now I am stuck with a $75.00 gift certificate. Pros: None! Cons: Rude, condescending and smug receptionist. Made me think that's what the rest of the staff were like. more

Fab Swed Massage! 9/12/2008

My boyfriend got me a gift certificate for my birthday & I was just able to go to La Pomponnee today (9/12/08). It was great! Heather O. was my masseuse & she was so kind & a great at what she does. I received a 1/2 hour Swedish massage, but I had a lot of knots in my upper back (shoulder-area) and my neck. She added more pressure that those areas to help me & make my experience worth the visit. I will definitely be back, and for an hour massage next time! I?m trying to convince my boyfriend to get a cupple?s massage with me!\r -Chelsea B. Pros: massages, changing room Cons: semi-pricey, no free parking more

Worth every penny... 7/22/2008

This past Friday I visited La Pomponnee for a spa day thanks to my wonderful husband. I received a massage, facial, and had my hair colored and cut. I have visited many spa in my lifetime and La Pomponnee is definitely one of the better ones. I see people leaving comments about La Pomponnee being overpriced and snotty, however I felt that the prices were actually very reasonable compared to other salons and spas in the area and the staff was overly gracious and accomodating. Obviously those people have never been to a spa in NYC or LA. I had a massage with Katie that was absolutely amazing. I like deep tissue massages and was impressed with the strength Katie had for being such a petite girl. After my facial I relaxed in the spa waiting area sipping a glass of wine. I then had a facial with Annie that was so relaxing, I fell asleep!!! I then had my hair done with Erin who did a wonderful job. I went to work that following Monday and got so many compliments from my co-workers. I am highly recommending La Pomponnee to all of my friends and will continue to be a client. Pros: Experience and Skill Cons: Wish I could do it everyday more

OVERPRICED 7/22/2008

I went as a member of a bridal party and we all booked together. Everyone (about 10 of us) hated our hair becuase we received styles we couldve twisted up ourselves with a few bobby pins, not to mention out of the 20 some updo's ive received in my lifetime (im early 20's by the way) this was the worst and most expensive. They took longer than expected so I opted to get my makeup done there too to save time while others still were getting theyre hair done by girls that must have just graduated from beauty tech school. The lady who did my makeup claimed I had an underlying pimple (I have clear skin and had no idea what she saw) and started to squeeze and dig at my chin which was invasive and aqward, finally leaving me with a big red painful lump to show up in all pictures on the big day!!! I was furious! I wanted my makeup dont not my pores squeezed! When she finally gave me the mirror it looked like I had no makeup on and she said they apply the natural look because they like it better despite everything I specified when she was putting it on. I redid my face 100% after leaving so about $50 down the drain (they didnt care that I wasnt satisfied so I had to pay). After being pressured beyond belief to buy their makeup (and they make you feel horrible if you dont) we all left over $250 poorer (just hair and makeup!) and in horrible moods putting a damper on the day a bit and making the bride feel horrible. Dont let them get your hard earned money out of you! they dont know what theyre doing!!! more

best salon in pittsburgh, great customer service 7/20/2008

My frist experince going to la pomponee was an amazingone. from the moment i walked in the door i felt like royalty. the frist thing i notticed was the wonderfull smell of the candles burning all around the beautifull atmospher. the style of the salon was very modern and sleek. i got a full day off pampering for my birhday which includede a hair cut, color and highlights which turned out amazing and my stylest, Alexis did exactly what i dremed my hair would turn out. then i recived the best facial for acne i have ever got in my life. imidetly after my skin looked better and inproved drematicly in the days to come. the finnal service i recived was a full body massage. this massage was so relaxing that i almost fell asleep. the staff made me feel so comfortable during every service and while waiting in between services I was waited on hand and foot and they have a seprate room for waiting for spa services which has calm music playing, commfy longe chairs and slippers.over all when the day was done i didnt want to leave! I left feeling like a queen. i am now a la popmonee loyal customer.I reconend it to anyone who is looking for an outstanding salon and wants to be treated like a queen, not to mention you will recive work by some of the best employes for beauty servces out there! Pros: THE TOTAL EXPERINCE Cons: PRICES more

""La Pomponnee"" is French for expensive and pompous... 7/3/2008

If you want snotty and rude (which some people in the area love, it seems) then go here. If you want down-to-earth stylists who will work for you not ignore you while charging outrageous sums, go to Alberta Modern Hair - it's just down the street and a much better value. Pros: Great place if you're a masochist Cons: rude, late, overpriced more

Eyebrow Shaping, Waxing Great! Haircuts - The Worst!!!! 6/16/2008

The staff that performs the waxing is very professional and thorough, however, I have never had such horrible hair cut experiences. The stylist could see that I had very curly hair. She began straightening it with a flat iron and then proceeded to cut. Since it was flat ironed, it looked great. However, once I washed my hair and let it dry naturally, I realized that the hairstylist gave my a cut for a straight-haired person. My hair looked like a lopsided grown-out mullet! When I went back and asked them to fix it, the hairstylist put even more layers on the top. I told her that she should not be cutting off the top, but the bottom instead. She disagreed, stating her experience with curly hair....Excuse me- but I have over 30 years handling my curly hair and knowing what works and she came across as knowing more than I, in this instance????? Needless to say, she really perfected the mullet the other hairstylist started. I had to go to another stylist who ended up having to cut four inches off from the bottom, in order to get rid of the ""mullet""! Pros: Waxing Cons: Hairstylists more

Beautiful Salon 5/29/2008

This is a bright, modern, gorgeous, clean, inviting salon. They give you beautiful, soft robes and disposable flip flops for your massage. Yes, some of the staff in front seem a little stuck up and could definitely be nicer, however, if you can get past that, the actual salon staff are really wonderful and really know what they are doing. Annie, the facialist, is really sweet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Pros: great location, beautiful salon, coffee Cons: strange vibe from front staff, a little stand-offish... more

The WORST customer services ever. 5/28/2008

Besides they are not offering the receipt these days. They don't even deserve a half of the star. That's it. More writing on this would be a waste of time. more
