It’s not your typical tapas restaurant. My friends and I sat in the back room, which really is a social club complete with folding tables, televisions and elderly gentlemen playing dominoes and gossiping. Not romantic or trendy, but fun and laid back. We were instantly charmed. There was a great selection of (bottled) Spanish beer, which, for me at least, was a treat, (I lived in Spain for two years and am a huge fan of Spanish beer). The food, however, was mediocre to poor: the octopus was tough; the calamari greasy; the patatas bravas fried to black bits. And all of it quite pricey. After enjoying the atmosphere and a few beers, I was really disappointed with the meal—before the food arrived, I had been planning on bringing my family here next time they visit NYC. But I’ll be taking them someplace else. Sigh. Good place, though, for an after-work beer.
Pros: Fun atmosphere
Cons: Poor food; surprisingly expensive
