Best Mini Burgers in the City!!!!!! 8/8/2006

Went Lucky's last night with some of my friends. We had the most amazing little burgers, such a great snack for a group of people to share. We then all had dinner and it was awesome. I love hanging out at Lucky's it is such a cool place...Oh yeah the bartenders make a great MArtini and the music kills!!!!... Pros: Snacks, dinners, Livemusic and drinks. Cons: sometimes a bit loud, fills up due to popularity. more

fabulous 1/16/2006

I've had several good experiences here. The place has a great vibe, and reliably great music. There is dancing too (when there is room), if you are up for the Sinatra swing. I love that there is no sign, and it is relatively easy to get to and to find parking. The food is also decent and reasonable. Make sure to go on a Sunday night (it can be a little quiet at other times). Pros: great music, great atmosphere, good times more

lets start with this statement "" too crowded most nights after 8, often too loud and way too much smoke "" Lady there hasn't been smoking in bars since 2003. Best food, best drinks, best Sinatra, and best secret. and when you walk inteh door, dont complain that there is no sign. It's not there to keep people who complain out! more

I love this place 8/24/2005

I first went to Lucky's a few months after it first opened a few years ago. I loved it then and I still do now. The one complaint many people had then, including myself, was that it was extremely smokey (and I am a smoker)! Problem solved since there is no smoking in Boston bars anymore. Great place to hang out with friends and listen to some great live music. I am not much of a mixed drink person, but they have a huge offering of martinis, etc. There is no cover and the food is good, yet inexpensive. This is a great place to hang out with friends. Great atmosphere! Pros: atmosphere/music, drinks, service more

what a great spot! 8/13/2005

I didn't know what to expect when going to lucky's. A friend had told me about it and said I had to check it out. There is no sign, just a corner entranceway so it is a little tricky to find the first time but well worth the effort. I had a fantastic dining eperience, both the food and the drinks were fantastic. Just as I was finishig my meal the live entertainment started, I don't know the name of the band but once again, fantastic. I would definately suggest a trip to Lucky's Lounge. Pros: good food, good drinks, friendly staff more

Go for the music 1/30/2005

It's a fun place to go before heading downtown, but Lucky's is not my favorite place to hang out on a regular basis - too crowded most nights after 8, often too loud and way too much smoke - although the decor and atmosphere are very, very cool, and the food is good. The Al Vega Trio rock, and I heard Mark Mahar is back - hope the rumors are true. He is hands down the best Sinatra in Boston and possibly the East Coast - bar none. You have to check him out when he fronts Al and the guys. Nobody does 'Ol Blue Eyes better in my opinion, and if the Master is indeed back I'll be heading there to check out Sinatra Sundays again, as it's been lacking that cool Sinatra vibe lately. Kick back with some wings and a martini - you won't be disappointed. Pros: Smoke, Crowds Cons: Music, Music, And more music more

Great Food!!! 9/1/2004

My friends and I had been to Lucky's many times to drink after work and on weekends, but have never eaten there. I decided to give it a try about a month ago and now I find myself eating there whenever I have the chance. The pizza specials are amazing as well as the turkey wrap. What is better than eating GREAT food, having a beer and listening to Sinatra on a Sunday night??? Pros: Good, inexpensive, atmosphere more

Lucky's 2/7/2003

this a great place to go and have a nice martini and have fun with friends or even to meet people. Pros: Great Martinis, Great Music, Beautiful Women Cons: Crowded more

Not my favorite... 2/4/2003

The decor inside the bar is very 1970's, but NOT in a cool new retro way. It was very crowded which was uncomfortable. I don't enjoy being shoved and knocked around all night. The smoke is thick, I'm a smoker and in this place even my eyes were burning. The guys inside were creepy and there is no coat check, only a coat rack which makes it an impossible, hour long task, at the end of the night trying to find your black jacket among the thousands of other black jackets. Also, there are two men's bathrooms and one women's room. That makes no sense. Lastly, the live music is okay but it's so loud that you won't be able to talk to anyone all night until the band takes a break. Pros: Easy to find parking, No cover Cons: Loud, Crowded, Smokey more

Good place to drink after work not a place for romance though more

Fabulous bar, not so fabulous food 11/27/2002

This was a great bar- lots of fun, lots of people and best of all lots of Frank! You'll be fine as long as you stick to the bar but I would avoid eating there because the food is brutal! Otherwise it is a great place to hang out! Pros: atmosphere Cons: food more

This bar is wicked pissa 11/19/2002

This is one of the best bars in Boston. Great atmosphere--looks like something out of Pulp Fiction or out of the 70's. Great drinks, very nice staff, hot chicks, live music..........Saturday nights gets pretty crowded, but one side has the music, the other has a bunch of booths like a diner almost. They also have great food--especially the wings. more

Get Lucky! 11/14/2002

This place is great. Especially if you are a Frank Sinatra fan, every time I have been there I hear a few songs by him. Very chill atmosphere with pretty friendly employees. It does tend to get a bit packed, so go before 10! more

swingers (movie) 9/21/2002

One of the best bars that I've been to in Boston, and I've been to most if not all. If you want ambience, class, excellent live music (covers stevie wonder, frank sinatra ect...). All around laid back good time not to mention the women..very nice. This is what a lounge should be! Very much the Swingers movie atmosphere. Very much not the norm for Boston. Excellent singles scene. Pros: the women Cons: no cons more

GO TO LUCKY'S 8/8/2002

This is one of the most unique bars in Boston, in my opinion.... a ""speak-easy"" of sorts, with great food and top-notch live entertainment. Pros: Great food, Ambience, Down-to-earth crowd Cons: Smokey more

Get Lucky! 8/6/2002

I love going here to hang out with the ever sexy after work crowd. The food is good, if a bit overpriced - but the drinks are excellent and so is the company Pros: Comfy, Great Scenery, Trendy Cons: $$$, no live music early more

Impressed 6/12/2002

I went into Lucky's on a Wed. night, and the most amazing band was playing! Ray Green is unbelievably talented. I was reading some other reviews about drinks being over priced, and had to write my own review! You need to get out more if you think Lucky's is overpriced! The mood, the staff, the music, all made it worthwhile! Pros: chill atmosphere, staff, drinks more

Editorial
  • Descending the stairs into Lucky's is like stepping through a portal into a swinging hipster lounge straight out of the '50s. Dim red lighting washes a rowdy vinyl-upholstered dining room, which is separate from the long narrow bar. Sardine-like conditions are the norm during peak hours, when an energetic crowd (Fort Point Channel artsy types and Financial District worker bees) rolls in. Lucky's signature laid-back vibe is kicked up to another level when rollicking Motown, funk and blues bands take the stage. A mix of comfort food and pub fare (homemade meat loaf, mini burgers) is served late, but the festivities tend to center around the bar.
