Great Italian Food 12/3/2008

I recommend L'allaegria, where my family and I go to dine for a delicious Italian meal on the weekends. My kids love the pizza and chicken fingers where my husband, mother and myself love their seafood and pasta along with their chicken francaise. This place has all the Italian favorites you can think of and with their remodeled look, its also a great atmosphere for everyone. The service was excellent and would recommend for everyone. I even attended a birthday dinner party for a large group there. more

Highly Recommended! 11/12/2008

I thought the service was great and the food was outstanding. The owner was right there overlooking both the service and the quailtiy of the food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good meal. I suspect the negative reviews were from the nearby competitors. more

DO NOT EAT HERE 10/2/2008

DO NOT EAT HERE! The customer service is TERRIBLE. I had some friends in from out of town and we were walking around and decided to eat here. First of all, not only was our food bland and my salad was drenched in olive oil.... the waiter spilled olive oil ALL over my purse. They then attempted to unsuccessfully clean it. When I found out the next day that it could not be removed with dry cleaning and that my pricey purse was damaged the owner only offered to pay me for 60% of the cost of a new purse (after we'd paid for our meal in full) and on top of that also tried to deny that it ever happened. I would never again eat at this place. It is so tiny that a waiter could very easily spill something on you or your purse too. Cons: tiny space, terrible customer service more

Good Experience 9/20/2008

My first time trying this place, and I really loved it. Short wait, not too long at all. The food was awesome. Sliced grilled steak for an entree, The mixed gren salad, the tortoni for dessert, everything! Not terribly expensive, definitely a good date spot. I will be back.I would recommend to all friends. Pros: friendly staff, food more

Great Midtown Lunch Spot 7/10/2008

I was in midtown on business and decided to give this restaurant a try based on reviews. I really enjoyed my meal. The food was great and the staff was friendly. I had one of their gourmet pizzas with a glass of wine. It was super tastey and lite to, believe it or not. There weren't a whole lot of people there at the time, which makes this a prime lunch spot (not too crowded for a midtown spot). Pros: great italian more

Great food, great service!!!!! good neighborhood Restaurant! 5/2/2008

My Husband and I have been there many times...we always get the ""greatest"" warm service and the best food. I LOVE the Tomato Mozzarella salad with the beautiful pesto and Balsamico reduction and I always have the vegetable Cappellini!!! Yum yum!!! \r I've had the Vongole and I love it just as much!! I can't wait to go back!!!! more

Fantastic Midtown Italian 4/15/2008

My family and I came to L'Allgeria on the recommendation of a friend, and I have to say it was great. They had some great wines (which we had a couple of bottles of), and the food was great. I did the prix fixe...great deal...I was stuffed by the end. I liked that atmosphere was casual and light. I bet it will be nice when it gets warmer to sit outside. Pros: Open Space more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! 7/27/2007

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We were looking forward to a good Italian meal while visiting the City. This was not the place for that. First, the service was TERRIBLE! They were very disorganized. At one point we actually watched out waiter gather his things and leave for the night leaving us with no server. We were lucky if we could get a refill on our beer and wine. The food was anything but good. My husband got a dish with clams that were bad. I had a pasta dish that was quite bland. It took forever for anyone working there to realize we didn't get a check. I was disgusted to actually pay these people for our dinner. Thing again before you proceed to this establishment! more

RUDE!!! FINE FOOD! 1/22/2007

Currently working in the service industry I realize how important customer service is, and I for one do not put up with rude people. I had been a loyal customer of this establishment until one terrible evening when a rude cook decided to speak in his native tongue about me not assuming I spoke the langauge. I have never been so offended in my life. The fact this establishement stands behinds its employees and its poor customer service is nuts. I will take down these offencive illegal aliens one at a time.............. more

A Good Place 11/1/2006

Went there with my G/f for our one year anny after we saw PTO on Broadway(about a 2 block walk). The service was friendly, the food was good, in big portions, and not that expensive (about $40 a person). I would definetly go there again if we see another show. Pros: Friendly service, big portions Cons: A bit of a wait more

Salty food, not much customer service from the server 7/14/2006

Recommended by 2 friends, I took best friend there for bday dinner with other friends. The dishes were salty (lobster pasta and veal/eggplant, and chicken parmigiano). Portion is big but again, just too salty. And there's not much greeting from the server when we came in or when we were eating. It took a long time for our entrees (6 people). I don't think I'd return again. more

Nothing outstanding 2/19/2006

Wait was longer than advertised, food was bland - had lobster ravioli and fettucine alfredo. Alfredo was very thing, no crushed pepper or cheese offered. Shrimp in the appetizer was stringy. Took forever to get a Diet Coke - when it came it was flat and not flavored. Bread service was never offered, though we repeatedly saw waiters carrying the baskets around. Can get better food and service at the Olive Garden for half the price. more

Poor Service 1/29/2006

At first I thought they were just trying to rush my dinner by bringing out my entree 90 seconds after my appetizer but then, when they never came back to clean off our dishes, I realized they were just disorganized. Eventually I was able to signal someone that we wanted our check. They covered for their incompetence by adding 18% gratuity to the check. There are too many other restaurants in New York to go back to this one. more

Best lobster ravioli ever! 2/3/2005

The lobster ravioli is the BEST I've ever had. They were happy to substitute the cream sauce for red. The ravioli had HUNKS of real lobster in it and it was delicious! All the ingredients were fresh and I would definitely return for a good italian meal. Pros: great value, fresh ingredients, wonderful service more

good food, good service 12/23/2004

two couples went pre restaurant. 4 meals ordered with two appetizers. all was good. service was prompt, portions plentiful, food delicious. Pros: good food, good portions, good service more

Bad Customer Service 8/15/2004

The food and service was average (pasta over cooked). The problems started when I attempted to pay the check. My bill was for $25.96 & I had a $50 Amex Gift Cheque made out and signed, I was told they do not accept gift cheques, after a bit of an arguement I was told that I should have let them know that I had a gift cheque and to pay the bill by credit card. The owner came over and told me he would accept a $25 gift cheque not the $50 one because he would have to give me change and that this is not a bank. Very poor answer, next day I called Amex and they cashed my cheque which was made out to L' Allegria and they have contacted the restaurant regarding this issue. The owner and staff need to learn customer service to say the least more

Good Italian Food 7/27/2004

This is a cute little Italian restaurant, and they serve good food with good service. The friend calamari appetizer was quite good, and the ricotta cheesecake was great. The veal dish was good, and while definitely enjoyable, the appetizers and desserts did outshine it. Overall, the food is reasonably priced, but it is pretty easy to run of a large bill with wine and mineral water. For $24, you can get a prix fixe dinner, which is a great deal. While a nice find, this place lacks the greatness of a few other Italian restaurants in the city. It is definitely good for a pre-theater dinner, and for local diners. If in the area, give it a try. If you're not in the area, try one of the other fine restaurants that New York City has to offer. Pros: Reasonable, Cute, Food more

Best Brick Oven Pizza 3/22/2004

L'allegria has an excellent Italian Menu, Great atrmosphere and best of all, close to the Theatre District. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend this restaurant to all those looking for a tasty Italian cuisine moderately priced. Pros: Food, Location, Service more
