The place to go for Mexican pastries 3/21/2006

La Mexicana is the one and only place to go for Mexican pastries. They have the most delicious, decadent pastries that most closely resemble the ones found in Mexico. All of their stuff is very fresh and they have the most hard to find pastries, like Rosca de Reyes, pastel de tres leches and flan. It's such a shame that they only have one location as I live in North Austin and often have to make the trip all the way down south to calm my cravings! more

La Mexicana 3/21/2006

For all the fuss that there is about bakeries around Austin, there is only one place where I go for my sweet tooth - La Mexicana. This Mexican bakery has every possible choice for authentic mexican pastries imaginable. They also have breakfast tacos and other lunch-fare as well as some tables inside. This means you can get your chorizo and egg taco and top it off with one (or two) of their chocolate conchas. If you're in the mood for something sweet and comforting, this South-side bakery fits the bill. more
