The reason I joined Bally's was for their low cost. If I would have known what I know today I would have never joined.
The overall cleanliness of the club is what I would expect for only paying $20 a month...not good. I can get over that and the fact the machines are way outdated. Oh and not to mention their ""swimming pool"" is almost the same size as their hot tub. Which makes it next to impossible to get a work out. I can get over all that, for I did tour the club before I signed up.
What they didn't tell me Is the nightmare it is to cancel your membership.
But first I should tell you why I wanted to cancel. 1) Theft is really high. not only in the club but out in the parking lot. 2) Terrible hours. close at 4pm?!?! wtf. 3)showers. I am perfectly comfortable with my body and showering publicly, but I have never felt so uncomfortable before in my life. I was the only one showering when 3 men came in and completely surrounded me. Seriously...there were 20 open shower heads, they didn't need to completely surround me. One immediately stated talking to me the other wouldn't stop washing his crotch and one was just staring at me. I left immediately and haven't been back since.
I went in to cancel my membership. First they ask me why? so I told him, then he told me he couldn't do anything and that I needed to send a letter to corporate. I'm glad I had to explain my self to him, so he can give me a frickin address. So, I mailed my letter and I thought I was done with it. Until, the next billing cycle comes and I get billed again. So called the number on their website and It tells me that the number is no longer in service. So I called a different number, this time I got a hold of someone. He told me that they hadn't ever received my letter and that since I didn't have any proof their was nothing I can do. Advice to anyone trying to cancel. Send a certified letter, and expect to be billed at least two more times.
There are much better options out there just keep looking.
