My mom received a gift certificate to LD nails last fall. Because it was good for a year, she decided to wait until the spring to get a pedicure so she could show off her toes (not in socks & shoes).
She made an appointment this spring for the two of us to get a mani/ped (fun!) The salon had no problem scheduling an appointment that would use a gift certificate.
After a GREAT relaxing appointment, my mom attempted to use the certificate and the woman said she couldn't accept it!!! Apparently they changed ownership and the last owners wouldn't reimburse them for certificates issued prior to the switch. WHAT?
My mom and I were originally a little upset because the technicians kept offering us extra services that we didn't realize had extra charges associated with. So in addition to being charged WAY more than what they had quoted us, we couldn't use the $50 certificate. While it was a gift, we probably wouldn't have gone out to do this in the first place if they had told us up front that we wouldn't be able to use it.
All in all, we spent well over $120 on a mani/pedi for both of us and still have the gift certificate that we can't use anywhere.
