Best

What more can be said? The only disappointment was the dessert selection. But you'll be too full from all the great food to really let that bring things down.

Worst

The place was horrible. There's barely any room to move around (very tight quarters). It was very hard to find parking. The portions are very small, the dishes are nothing specia...

I love this place 11/4/2005

I'm not sure what happened to the previous reviewer but my experience there was great. It's a beautiful, little restaurant with a charming and helpful staff. The menu has many delicious tapas and an incredible paella. more

Not good 6/29/2005

Food was marginal. I was fooled by the other reviews as well. If cramped is romantic then this place is as romantic as it gets. Service was not good. Don't be fooled by the good reviews. more

This place rocks!!! 1/31/2005

Everything was wonderful. We had the best seafood paella!! I'm so glad to have found such a great place in LA!! Pros: seafood paella, service more

Great place for tapas 1/17/2005

Restaurant reminds me of an old spanish villa ilt by candlelight. It'd be good for couples or small group of friends. Very good selection of of both hot and cold tapas (reasonably priced). Highly recommend getting the cold seafood salad ""ceviche"" style, it's very refreshing and perfectly seasoned. Had doubts about the bland looking paella, but once I tasted it, I completely changed my mind. It was full of flavor! The only things I don't like are that you have to order at least 2 orders of paella, and the prices are a little steep for what you get. Not impressed by the desserts, I would recommend that you get them elsewhere. I will defintely go back, and recommend this place to all my friends, but I think I'll be skipping dessert next time. Pros: Variety of tapas, Service, Ambiance Cons: , Hard to spot, Pricey paella more

Muy bueno! 9/27/2004

After having lived in Spain for 15 years, I consider myself a real Spanish food lover and La Paella is the only authentic Spanish restaurant here in Los Angeles. The food and service are excellent. Pasqual, the owner makes sure everybody in the restaurant is enjoying themselves and makes you feel at home in his restaurant. The paellas are all good, as are the tapas. The gazpacho is sheer perfection! This restaurant is definitely an authentic piece of Spain in Los Angeles. Try it, you won't be disappointed. more

Garlic mayo 2/9/2003

Nice romantic date kind of place. Make reservations. Dont be stupid like me. I dug their bread and garlic mayo, but maybe because I was starving from waiting. Their paella was pretty good, though Ive had better tapas. more

Small and very romantic 1/22/2003

A friend of mine found this tiny restaurant for a girls night out. We all thought it would be a perfect date restaurant, and everyone in the party LOVED the restaurant. It's very small, so if you don't have reservations, it might be tricky. But the food is great, and the staff were wonderful. I've added it to my list of great restaurants in LA. Pros: romantic Cons: small more

Great food! Great atmosphere! 1/13/2003

I have been patronizing this restaurant for over four years now and have never had a bad experience. The setting is intimate and romantic, so I can see how it might've been difficult for the previous reviewer to attempt to make a reservation for such a large party. Having said that, once you are seated, the service is excellent. The staff is friendly and is always readily available without being overbearing. The food is incredibly flavorful and is probably one of the most authentic in the LA area. A must try is the sangria! It's delicious! Pros: excellent food, great service, intimate dining more

Excellent tapas - Romantic ambiance 11/29/2002

We arrived about ten minutes early for our 8:30 reservation. We were still seated promptly at a cozy candlelit table for two. Around us we noted a couple of large families who seemed to be enjoying the excellent sangria and tapas. Despite the proximity to two large (ten or more) parties, our service was always prompt and friendly. We ordered a pitcher of sangria (a necessity), a few tapas and the paella valenciana. Our favorite tapas were the mushrooms and chorizo. When the paella arrived it was a meal by itself. Que sabor! From among the dessert choices of rice pudding, creme brulee, chocolate mousse, et al., we chose the carrot cake. Delicious! With the wonderfully attentive Spanish staff, the charming candlelit atmosphere and delicous tapas, you can't go wrong. We can't wait to go back and take our own large group. Highly recommended! Pros: Charming, Cozy, Great Sangria more

Que Rico! 5/20/2002

Sauteed mushrooms, cubed manchego, squid rings, steamed mussels, artichoke hearts, meatballs, snails, and grilled chorizo. The list of tapas is so long and so good that you may never reach the main course. The owner comes by to chat and refill your wine glass. The lights dim, and the talk lingers. But don't forget to try the paella valenciana. more
