Good customer service 5/28/2011

I took my 2005 Mazda 3 in for an oil change and it was recommended that a few other services were performed. It had been a while since I had scheduled service so I thought their recommendations were reasonable. A couple of days after the service, my check engine light came on. I called and shared my concerns. I am trying to sell the car so I wanted to make sure everything was running tip top. I was told to bring the car back in. The manager ran a diagnostic and determined the issue. It wasn't anything critical and I appreciated that he explained the problem. They didn't try to add a bunch of unnecessary services like the dealership service department does. Overall, I'm happy with the service and would recommend them. The wait times were reasonable and they were professional and honest. more

I will never take my car to Kwik Kar by the Lake again...and I strongly suggest you reconsider before going there. The service technicians were ok in that they greeted me when I arrived. However, they let me leave with a worn out belt and didn't even tell me or offer to replace it. With in a day or two the belt broke on me causing all sorts of problems. I went in for an inspection and an oil change. I came out with a big headache...oh...and the blonde guy who changed my oil didn't even put the oil cap back on. It must have fallen off the engine area as I drove down the street. A friend of mine told me that they had to have their engine replaced once due to faulty work by Kwik Kar on the Lake more

Finally an honest mechanic 5/2/2009

Good: Very attentive service by honest mechanics who speak clear English and do exactly what they say they are going to do, with very reasonable prices, and the owner himself even offered and actually gave me a ride home after leaving my car for many repairs.. Bad: They told me that my left turn signal was working okay even after I told them what was wrong, and after I picked up my car and drove it home, the left turn signal was still not working.. Improvements: Quality over quantity.. Other: I was really very impressed with the courtesy and responsiveness of the entire staff, and the cleanliness of the entire facility. They even mopped the service bays at the end of the day and cleaned the waiting area. They even kept working on my car a few minutes after closing time.. more

OK with a caveat 8/22/2007

This place is fine for oil changes and routine maintenance, but beware if you have to get a repair. I dropped over $500 on repairs that didn't fix the problem. Took my car in the first time because "service engine" light came on. It was running fine even with the light on, and I wanted to keep it that way, so I let Kwik Kar's tech diagnose it. He replaced a cam position sensor to the tune of $200. A couple of days later the light came on again, AND the car started running rough with misfires and power dropouts. I purchased a code reader that indicated high voltage on the 2 front oxygen sensors. I took it back to Kwik Kar. This time he replaced one of the O2 sensors for $280.00. The light came on again before I got back to my driveway. Taking out the reader, what did I discover, but high voltage readings on both O2 sensors again. Either the tech there is more interested in getting things done fast, rather than right, or he just doesn't know what he's doing at all. more

Oil Change 11/16/2006

I've attempted to find a website for this business so that I could tell them directly (and not so publicly) why I won't use them anymore, but could only find this site. Several months ago I took my car in for an oil change. A couple days later I smelled gas, and the following Saturday went back to Kwik Kar. It turned out the oil cap was missing. The employee told me it was because my oil cap "blew off." There was no damage to the hood of my car; I'm not a mechanic but common sense tells me that if oil pressure had built up to the point of blowing my oil cap off, I would have known it. This was obviously a case of just forgetting to put the cap back on. I would have respected admission of a mistake to put the oil cap back on, instead of blaming it on something else and insulting my intelligence. Two oil changes later (both at Kwik Kar), I again smelled gas, although this was close to two weeks after the oil change. I opened up the hood and discovered that the cap had not been screwed tight and oil was coming out; I then noticed the oil on my garage floor that evening. I will never go to them again. Oil changes are what they do and they can't seem to do that well. more

They go out of their way 2/23/2006

A couple of weeks ago my cars check engine light came on and I pulled into Kwik Kar at closing...(garage door was coming down)...They looked at my car and the manager was nice enough to give me a ride home. Got my car back the next day and runs great! more

Quick and Easy 10/17/2005

I live by White Rock lake and this Kwik Kar has been a great asset to the neighborhood. They are a family owed business and are always very pleasant to visit. I have always gone to get my oil changed there and will continue. They are very fast and very trustworthy. I recommend this business to anyone in the area. You will very pleased. more

Need an Oil Change 8/2/2005

I originally went to Kwik Kar by the Lake because they are conveniently located for me. I was impressed with the clean facility. They have a really nice waiting room as well as a room for small children to play. They always do a quick check of the engine, and if they find something that needs to be replaced, they will show it to you and explain what is needed (like a dirty air filter). They will also air the tires and vaccuum your car. The staff is really friendly. more
