If you like drinking, cussing, and a bunch of kids acting stupid then this is not the place for you. However if you like good clean fun for your family, you have to visit Kure Beach Pier. Kure Beach itself is a small town but the people there make you feel right at home. As for the pier, no better place to be at the beach than on this pier. Most piers on the carolina coast (north and south) make you pay a huge fee to fish off the pier and they dont limit the number of fishing rods you can carry. So you always have this one person who brings 15 rods with him and tangles everybody up. but on Kure Pier you only pay 5 bucks to fish all day, and they only allow one rod per ticket so everyone has room to fish. I think it makes it eaiser on all us parents who are trying to teach our kids to fish and have a good time outdoors. because you are not having to untangle fishing line all day. If you have young kids like me you know their attention span goes with the tide, you can always wind your line in and let your rod save your spot. Then you can take the kids to the pier house for some hot chocolate and play video games, they have games for all ages. They have bait and tackle on site and just about any thing you would need.Head down to the sand and play then jump in the ocean. When that gets old head back down the pier and fish some more. With Icecream and food within 15 feet of the pier and only one way on and off the pier you can honestly leave your things on the pier all day even if your not in eye shot of them. The staff take time to get to know you and is always willing to pass on that little hint as to where to catch the big one. With plenty to do on and off the pier and with hotels and restaurants within walking distance, why go anywhere else. They have the fort, aquarium, boat marina and the childrens park, Kure Beach is a must for families. If you like fishing late september early october you dont even have to bait your hooks.
