The care in the intensive care unit iOS below the standard of care Unfortunately we had to go there by emergency helicopter. The intensivist MD provided under standards of care. The ICU MD admitted that it is very difficult to care to care for the 39 patients in their care. Tests that were required to just meet standards of care we're not ordered. We had to stay almost 24 just to make sure minimal care was provided Daily bloodwork, Chest X-rays and ABGs were not done. We were left alone with our critically ill
loved one. There was not follow thru on administration of medications, procedures or tests
If we were not medically knowledged treatments would not be done I would never want someone I know cared for in the ICU
The nursing staff was overworked and also gave poor care. The nurses were inexperienced.
There was no one available to help when their patients needed more experienced care
Basic nursing skills lacked Example turning a critical comatose pt every two hours . To administering a drug that two hours earlier caused the pt to be severely hypotensive A nurse with a cold that wiped her runny nose with her hand entered the room without using the sanitizer
We asked several times to talk with the nursing supervisor with no avail.
The social worker was inept. We were looking into transferring our loved one to rehab He handed me a pamphlet that was inappropriate to his needs. I had to literally had to in his office and show him how to go to the site to make the referral.
