I have bought there forever! Its the best gun shop anywhere near the North-West I was in there just today and they fixed me up really nice. Keith was a little bit snappy but he's ...

Worst

I have been to Keith's several times over the years. I live on the central Oregon coast so the drive is long and tiring. My first visit was met with a bunch of folks who all had a...

Keith's 6/8/2009

I have been in here when I was looking to buy a firearm and the clerks were not very helpful in my opinion. The prices seemed a little on the high side as well. more

Busy enough to not care about customer service 4/18/2009

Out of maybe 12 calls I've placed to Keith's, they've actually answered the phone twice. Usually you get a pre-recorded message/announcement that will not let you leave a message. In visiting the store, it becomes pretty obvious what the deal is: They are very busy nearly all the time. They are consciously aware that they are busy enough, and will remain busy enough in the future, that they don't need to care about customer service. This is great for them, but bad for anyone who has a question or needs some assistance. Pros: Good selection & reasonable prices Cons: They never answer their phone & customer service is lacking more

Good selection, good prices, lousy service 4/3/2009

Despite being drawn back time and again because of their close location, selection and good prices, you have to be overly-patient to get waited on. Most retail establishments would not do well with this lack of client focus. Perhaps the limited number of gun retailers allows Keith's to get away with this. If you want GREAT customer service, travel south to the Gun Broker in Clackamas. Their prices aren't much higher, but the service is 500% better. They even acknowledge your presence when you walk in. Pros: selection and price Cons: lousy service more

Stop complaining about credit card fees. 3/24/2009

Credit card fees are a big deal to small businesses that already have thing profit margins. Someone on here complained about the 3% he was going to be charged on $1300, well thats an extra $39 that the shop wouldnt recieve. CASH IS KING to small businesses. The more you can get in cash the easier it is to turn into untaxed income if you know what i mean. Cash also makes a great bartering tool. Also, if you need to put the purchase of a firearm on a credit card then you probably shouldnt be purchasing one anyways. Screw your skymiles. Pros: great selection Cons: full of obama noobs more

excellent place to find the weapon at an excellent price 3/23/2009

If you need you hand to be held, like when you go to Lowes or Depot. Go somewhere else. This store is for those who want to buy not those who want to ""shop"". \r \r Do your research, find out what you want to look at and have your choices made. then go to Keith's and hold the weapon. Then buy it. It is that simple. \r \r Oh and for the Lady who wanted to gripe about Keith's. Go to ""Lowe's"" and have your hand held. Waaaa! Pros: Not a ""retail"" atmosphere Cons: too far away more

The best gun shop in the Portland area, hands down. 3/19/2009

I went into Keith's for the first time the other day, and I gotta say some of these other reviews are as wrong as they are malicious. This store has incredible inventory and great prices in spite of the obama/AWB scare. The staff on shift (including Keith for some of you crybabies) were all great people and took a refreshing, no b*s* approach to their business. I got exactly what I needed quickly and efficiently, without smalltalk. They showed complete indifference to my ethnicity, which is more than i can say for some other gun shops around here, and were very helpful in answering all of my questions. Some of these bad reviewers come off so oversensitive and whiny or even just dumb as sh*t (DonP???). If you want someone to hold you tight and coo while they sell you a gun, go somewhere else. If you want what you need, straight up and at a great price, go to this store. Pros: Inventory, Prices, CUSTOMER SERVICE Cons: Busy more

Worst Gun Buying / Service Ever! 3/18/2009

I will Never shop here again! Condescending, Rude, Unfriendly, No help with a defective product, Told several different Wrong answers depending on who I asked, and the Owner would not address the problem or offer any kind of apology... I have since talked to to many people and have come to find out that they have had similar (or worse) experiences there than I did. ok selection and average prices cannot out weigh the horribleness of this store. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they were my worst enemy. Pros: none Cons: Employees more

One of the Best Guns Stores Around!! 3/15/2009

I've visited Keith's perhaps several hundred times since they first opened at what is now their warehouse. Come to think of it, perhaps I'm part of the reason they are always very crowded.. Still, Keith's is the best place around for selection and a good deal on guns! Being a gun afficionado (er, nut) and frequently traveling around the US, I visit alot of gun stores. I have yet to see a gun store where guns are cheaper than at Keith's. In other states I've visited, the price of a Glock or Sig is normally about $150.00 to $200.00 more than at Keith's for the same gun. Keith's special order pricing policy (cost plus 10%) is also very reasonable; the man has to make a profit! Most other stores I've visited--some in Portland--charge cost plus 25%. I also like that Keith's will always try to order what you want and get it expeditiously, instead of whinning about ATF or 'the govnment makin it hard for folk to buy guns'.... Best thing to do to deal with the crowd at Keith's is to go to a gun store where they are not selling anything, look at what you want to buy, then go to Keith's and get it at a better price. Happy hunting! Pros: Best Selection and Prices! Cons: Very Busy and Crowded! more

lost don p's business by being rude and disrespectful 3/9/2009

ok i should of read these reviews befor we went there when we were there don asked a guy that was standing in the stor waiting to sell some what he was selling and the guy told him and this was just to make conversation as he waited on this guy that worked there to help he wasnt very willing but then this other guy that works there shouts at him from acrossed the store not to talk to his customers now dow is young and will respect you as much as he can but this guy was very impolite and at the same time three guys that worked there started giving him trash about trying to do business in their shop telling its mistominor and threatning him and don says sorry i didnt know trying to be nice and they start repeating them selves about the law junk and he gave the sign and we just left didnt say another word they didnt know he had cash and that they had sevearl colts like he wanted for his collection that is thier loss maybe they should respect people a little more Pros: they had some selection Cons: cramped place ful of mean people more

Wonderful Customer Service 2/18/2009

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I went in to Keiths looking for a firearm for home security. I didnt see any i liked int he store but they said that they had a larger selection at the Gun show this past weekend. I went there and they were ABSOLUTELY wonderful. The lady there asked alot of questions about why i wanted a gun and for what purpose and even went in to the specifics about how my house is set up and if i have any children. Eventually reccomended a 20ga shotgun for what i needed rather than a handgun. She spent over 15 minutes with me answering my questions laughing and joking around. Definately fair prices too. The same items at Sportmans are a bit more expensinve than at Keiths. I would definately go there again. A very all around pleasant experience. Pros: Friendly staff, great selection, knowlegeable more

Great Selection and Customer Service 2/3/2009

Keith's is a great place to buy or even look. The people know what they are talking about and the prices are fair. The only way you could have a complaint about Keith's is if it is your competitor. Keep going strong. Pros: Huge selection Cons: A little too cozy more

more varied selection of firearms and supplies in the portland area 1/25/2009

The facility is easy to find. They have a decent variety of handguns compared to most of the other shops in the area. They don't necessarily have everything on display so if you are looking for something in particular you should ask. Prices are some of the better in the area on most of their firearms. Parking is a challenge when they are busy which is whenever I've been there. Most of the personnel are fairly knowledgeable. There is one of the staff that I avoid when I go in as he talks a lot but doesn't seem to have a good grasp of the facts. more

Best place in the Portland Metro Area 1/24/2009

I'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews. I've bought a lot of guns there and have had no real problems. Keith was even good enough to refund my deposit for a custom order (for a gun from the Springfield Custom shop that I knew had not been started yet). I think this is pretty good customer service considering that they are pretty clear that deposits are not refundable.\r \r I was there just after election day. The place was mobbed. As busy as they were, the staff did a remarkable job of acknowledging people who were waiting and letting them know they would be helped as soon as possible. And things moved along nicely.\r \r They have very reasonable prices and usually have what you want in stock. They are usually busy because of this. Many shooters I've met like to stand around and visit with gun store clerks. At Keith's, there isn't time for this. If it puts people off, so be it. Trust me, the guy behind you is appreciative.\r \r I used to prefer Northwest Armory, but they hardly have anything in stock these days and every time I go in there it looks more and more like they are slowly going under (or simply don't care that the store looks like hell and the cabinets are empty).\r \r The one gripe I have is that you are charged more if you want to pay with a credit card. I was under the impression this wasn't allowed. Pros: They have what you need at reasonable prices Cons: Extra fees for credit card purchases more

The Worst gun shop in the USA 1/19/2009

WOW! I thought I was the only one. All I can say is that I took the time to read all of the 56 reviews. It is very clear that this shop will be having a ""going out of Business"" sale soon. We will be so very happy to go to that sale. You can only treat customers like trash for so long. I have been into Keith's two times and was treated very rudely by the uneducated , idiot hourlies. I happen to be a gun nut and have a very nice (180k) collection of weapons. This shop was unimpressive to me. The best shops are the ones that have fair prices, large inventory and educate their customers on the product they are kind enough to buy from your shop. Do not treat them like they are fools or morons. Lets be real I am a business man and know the three things you need to do is keep you customers, staff and vendors happy (IN THAT ORDER) Dumb Dumb Does none of these. You""Keith"" may read these reviews like every small business owner should and either laugh or know you will be replaced be the new guy down the street. You don't have a patten# on the gun broker business you fool!!!! I will never refer anyone to your shop. \r \r Thank you ""The New Guy Down The Street"" Opening spring 2009 Pros: Will be closed soon Cons: Read the reviews (not the ones his family wrote) more

Know before you go! 1/9/2009

Everything you see in the other reviews is mostly true. (except for the part about Keith's ethics being broken) The fact is they won't help you make up your mind or decide whether your getting screwed. That is left up to you to worry about. My advice is, go to Sportsman's or Fisherman's or Bi-Mart to look at guns and decide what you want. Then and only then, go to Keith's, tell them exactly what you want, and buy it. If you are buying used, don't expect Keith's staff to hold your hand. Feel free to look all day long, but don't expect them to follow you around as if you were buying a new car. They don't have that kind of time. If you don't know what you're doing, don't blame Keith. The fact is, they are in the business of selling guns. It is your business to make sure you get what you want at a fair price. Not a steal or a great deal. A fair price. I won't hesitate to buy from Keith. I also make sure I know what I want and what I am doing before I go there, because it ain't Burger King. Pros: Best selection. No nonsense. What you see is what you get. Cons: Always very busy. Location/Parking. more

Here's the real deal with Keith's Sporting Goods 1/7/2009

Let me sum up ALL the reviews here with the straight scoop: Keiths has the best selection of firearms in the Pacific Northwest. Keith's also has fair pricing...you won't get great deals, but you won't get ripped off, either. But Keith's is lacking in two areas. First, customer service at Keith's is notoriously bad. Seriously, whenever you even mention the name ""Keith's"" in a room full of gun owners, at least one person will mention the awful customer service. (And everyone else in the room will nod in agreement.) Keith himself can be downright rude, which is entirely unnecessary. So, if you go there, understand ahead of time that YOU need to be firm and almost a little rude yourself if you want to be helped. Second, Keith's doesn't take returns. I found this out when I bought an expensive Polish AK-47 from him at the PDX gun show. When I got home, I learned that the rifle was out-of-spec, and that magazines would not fit into the mag well. I took it back, and didn't even ask for my money back. A mere exchange for a working rifle would have sufficed. But Keith wouldn't even exchange the rifle. Keith already had my money, so apparently this was now my problem. So here I was with a new $700 AK that was not functional! Needless to say, that was the last dollar Keith ever saw from me. (A shame too, considering that I spend no small amount of money every year on firearms) In essence, Keith's could be a really good gun shop. But Keith himself seems to have a broken ethical compass. If you do business with him, be forceful, be deliberate, and most important, be careful! Pros: Good selection, pretty good prices Cons: Some questionable business practices, bad location, store too small more

good selection, not so great service 1/7/2009

I went there interested in buying a gun. I left without buying anything. The staff were busy, but once they had time to help me, they were gone. So someone finally helped me, reluctantly. You go in there to learn and ask questions and buy something. They treat you like an idiot. They have a great selection, but the staff makes the experience a negative one. I wont go back. Pros: Great selection, decent prices Cons: staff is rude more

Great Shop 12/22/2008

I love Keith's Sporting Goods. Each time I have dealt with them they have been very professional, knowledgeable and polite. They have great prices. They are however, always busy. Pros: Lot's of selection and good prices. Cons: Always very busy. Be patient. more

Gunshows same poor service 12/18/2008

I've dealt with them 3 times at different shows. I couldn't believe how cold and rude they were to everybody. Buyers and lookers-it didn't matter. Each time I felt like others-I was bothering them even though they are the ones that rented the area and tables to sell/show guns. Always bought else where. Vote with your wallet and buy somewhere else! Pros: lots of guns at shows Cons: don't like selling to or talking to folks that came to see said guns more

IT'S A GUN SHOP NOT Mc D'S 12/11/2008

I guess that I need to put in a good review for Keith's since I read all these reviews and can understand some of them on both sides. I've been going there since I found them in the garage (that is there warehouse now, I think). I've never seen them as busy as they have been in the last year or two. I have never taken it personally any attatude that I have gotten since the folks in there have good days and bad. I mean really, it's a gun shop, not a Mc Donalds. It's serious stuff and the people that work in this type of business have to constantly look out for everything that is going on. I don't hang out and I don't really know any of them personally and don't need to. In there defence, they should expect you to know a little about what you are doing and have some firearm experience, if you don't, you should go to a big box store that may have someone that has time to chat with you. You may find that even at other places, it will be no better. You might sign up for some training before you go to any gun shop and buy your first weapon. You may want to go to a shop during the week when they are not so busy to make that first buy or to just look around, go early, be patient, take your time. It's a serious thing. I think if you approch them with patience at Keithe's, you'll find them to be very good, serious, knowledgable, friendly and a lot of the time, very busy people. If their are young people working, maybe they are filling in since they are so busy. To those that have felt compelled to write those nasty reviews....look at yourself, look at it through their eyes and ears, hearing the same demanding and stupid questions over and over from first time customers who may or may not know what they are doing, waiving money, wanting too much information or information that is not easyly assimilated. They probably don't need that or your money. I think they do a good job under the circumstances that they have to work under. Pros: Lot's of guns and varity, they change weekly. good folks (mostly)? Cons: Be patient, take some time, go during the week at odd hours. more
