This is our third time at Kashkaval. This time we invited a couple of Belgian friends and they were ecstatic. We shared several tapas, a salad and a panini, all super tasty. Pros: Everything is so fresh, great selection of tapas and wines Cons: too noisy more

Yummy fondue and warm atmosphere 1/1/2009

I've been to Kashkaval twice now, once this winter and once last- the food is still so good! This place is part restaurant, part wine bar and part store, which is nice since the tapas are delicious and you can also buy them up front before you get to the restaurant part. The wine is great, the cheese fondue is my favorite and the tapas are made up of a great Mediterranean selection. The only thing that was dissapointing this time around was the wait- we were seated right away but then had to wait to order, had to wait to order another glass of wine and then waited close to 15 minutes before someone walked by so we could order dessert- keeping in mind there's probably 7 tables in the whole back area. I wasn't in a ruch but there was absolultely no attention paid to us whatsoever....last year I remember the service being very good, so maybe it was just the night we went. I'd still recommend since the atmosphere is cozy and I love a good fondue place. Pros: great tapas and fondue Cons: waiting can take awhile once seated more

Good cheese, lousy service 8/19/2008

When it's good. it's very very good but when it's bad it's horrid. Do not go to this restaurant if bad service can ruin your evening because 50% of the time the service will be very very bad. The fondues and food are yummy when they arrive but will arrive at random times. Pros: Good cheese Cons: Dreadful service more

A Quaint Place for a Good Date 1/15/2007

I came across this restaraunt looking for a cool place to have a date, and boy was I glad I found it. The prices are really reasonable. I had the combo plate of Greek appetizers and it was so good...that could have been our dinner. The fondue wasn't too oily which sometimes can happen. There were so many choices that it was hard to choose, and actually I am going back tonight....to try something new. New date....and new food!!! You gotta love NY. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Pros: Food, Ambience (if you like quaint places) Cons: Can be a little crowded sometimes more

Cheese Makes Everything Better 2/7/2005

This is a fantastic cheese shop- friendly service and an inspiring array of cheeses and snacks. But the best part is the amazing bistro style back room- delicious fondues, tapas, and bistro fare like omlettes and sandwiches. A great place to relax with a bottle of wine and plate of your favorite cheeses or take advantage of their pairings and get a mixed plate and sample new ones. Prices are extremely reasonable, service is excellent and the ambience can't be beat. Pet cats wander around keeping any other ""cheese lovers"" at bay, making the place feel even more like a cosy Parisian hide-away. Pros: service, fondue, decor Cons: limited seating more
