In a region where, unfortunately, major book retailers seem to think that African-American literary interests are limited to romance novels, it's great to have a place like Karibu. This little shop in The Mall at Prince George's has one of the widest selections of books of African-American interest in the area....fiction, history, science, culture, international studies, you name it. Karibu also features frequent authors and other speakers, and it's become somewhat of a community center too because of this. The only drawback is its location inside a busy mall -- it can be kind of a hassle to reach -- and it's size. It's a bit small, so you might find yourself reaching over other customers to find that special book. The selection makes it worthwhile, though.
