I was excited to be moving into my new condominium and have all the renovations taken care of. Kari Landro seemed as though she was confident that the project would be done by the deadline she had promised and that the work would be of the highest quality.
During basic demolition, Kari assisted me in picking out fixtures, cabinetry, finishes, light fixtures and had simple and basic ideas about the layout of my renovation. I believed that all things were underway and ready to proceed.
The problems then began to occur. It was a month until my move in date and virtually nothing had been done. I had to baby sit the contractors on a daily basis making sure that they were working a full day. Kari would get defensive about the excessive breaks and days off they were taking. I caught Kari in many lies as to cover up the unreasonable delay in my renovation project.
When progress finally started taking place on the project Kari asked if I would go with her to pick out my fixtures, finishes and cabinetry for a second time. She had completely disregarded the original selections I had chosen, not having even ordered them. This only put the project on hold at least another two months.
Eventually I had to fire her general contractor that she hired and find my own to carry out the rest of the project. This second contractor was quick and efficient and got work that would have taken Kari's team two weeks in two days.
I had already moved into my condo (three months after the promised completion date) while there was still another months work left to do. Light fixtures were still on order as well as kitchen and bathroom hardware.
Kari Landro has horrible design skills. I look around my condominium today and can find one or two things that she picked out. When I think design, I think color, creativity, and uniqueness. Kari left me with a simple, mediocre shell of a ""design.""
Although I love my new home, I credit the beauty of it to the things I chose and the companies I hired apart from Kari Landro. I have beautiful countertops from European Marble and Granite in Salt Lake City, and great hardware I found from Restoration Hardware.
Kari loves to get all of her supplies, cabinetry and finish products from select companies she gets commissions from and will not explore other options that are suggested by her clients.
She is simply good for calling separate contractors and scheduling them to work on her projects. Kari has a charming personality, but do not be fooled as she is a compulsive liar and very unethical in her business dealings.
Kari Landro is NOT a licensed contractor. She does not use contracts and it is very difficult to get lien releases from her if needed. Be VERY cautious in proceeding with her business. If you have a lot of time and want to be strung around, Kari Landro Design is the way to go.
Pros: Quick Start and Charming Personality
Cons: Horrible Execution, Dishonest, Mediocre Results
