If you can think for yourself- avoid this practice!!! 8/24/2012

After reading positive reviews about this practice, I decided to go there when I was pregnant with my daughter. It is a bit of a process at first but we really liked the nurse we talked with, Margret. She and most of the other nurses were great. The doctors however, treat you like pregnant is a disease and you are too stupid to know yourself or to make informed decisions. At one point Dr Mckenzie wanted to give me a vaccination that contained a lot of mercury! And they are concerned about how much tuna I eat?? Seriously?!? When I declined the vaccination, which wasn't needed for my health or the baby, I was treated with sarcasm. And was labeled in my file as an "uncooperative patient". From that tine on, my visits were increasingly difficult. Culminating in ten days before my due date the doctor wanted to induce labor for a minor, non threading issue. When I declined, and said I'd monitor the situation over the weekend and let her know on Monday how I was doing she resorted to scare tactics! My baby was born the following Sunday, 1hr and 45 min after being admitted and was completely healthy. Dr Bass delivered and treated me well, until I saw him 8 weeks later when he had absolutely no time for me, must have read my file! Bottom line, if you want to be in control of your pregnant and not go along with every ridiculous thing they want, this is NOT the practice for you. more

Best there is! 8/9/2012

I have been going to Kamm McKenzie for several years and think they are the best in town! During my pregnancy, I was able to see all of the doctors in the practice and felt extremely comfortable with each one of them. I try to avoid going to the doctor's office in general, but found myself missing this sweet team after my daughter arrived and we no longer had weekly check-ups. They are caring, compassionate, competent, and a breath of fresh air. BTW, the Durant Office is nicer than the one off Six Forks. more

Great First Visit 7/31/2012

My first visit to the Durant Road office was very pleasant. I was seen quickly, but wasn't rushed through the visit. Nurse Jackie and Dr. Saacks introduced themselves and were very friendly. I was able to sit with Dr. Saacks first to discuss any concerns and she took the time to explain what to expect during the exam. It seemed like she genuinely enjoys her job and is very good at it too! more

Best Practice in Town 6/19/2012

I switched to this practice a few years ago because I felt like my previous provider didn't truly care about my concerns. At Kamm McKenzie they are so caring and concerned. They delivered my 1st child and although I had a difficult delivery, they were so wonderful making me feel at ease. They will soon be delivering my second child as well. I look forward to another positive experience. I have seen every doctor in their practice and they all have exceeded my expectations! They are wonderful! more

Felt like I was assaulted! They didn't listen to my needs when I was vulnerable! 5/12/2012

At first, it felt like they were being patient with me, legitimately concerned for me. But when it came to the pelvic exam, I requested a mirror, I tried to tell the nurse I couldn't see what was going on, she moved in front of the mirror and said "This should be fine". I kept telling the doctor, Mr. McKenzie that I still couldn't see what was going on, and I didn't feel right, but he continued with the exam. I am a rape/sexual assault survivor and I have had doctors disrespect me like this before, causing me a huge fear of pelvic exams and the ob/gyn. I felt violated, vulnerable, and I felt like they didn't listen to me enough and they didn't do enough to make me feel comfortable. I took 2 valium for the exam as prescribed by my doctor and felt like I was ready ONLY IF they did what I needed them to do in order to make me more comfortable. They didn't and I went home sore and cried all afternoon. Oh, and what's worse is before the appointment, I didn't even know Dr. McKenzie was a MALE! I SPECIFICALLY asked to see a FEMALE doctor! What a terrible first visit! And they are the only ones that I know of near me that can use local anesthesia for placement of an IUD. I definitely will remember the nurse's face and will request someone else if I ever get her again, and I will DEFINITELY not be seeing McKenzie again! I am going with a FEMALE doctor this time, if they can't give me that, then forget this place, I will find someone else, my family agrees I was mistreated. BEWARE other new patients, I was treated like this as a new patient and a rape survivor! I even told them that! They really do just see you as income, they see you as just a number of patients in a day. :'( more

Left waiting 4/20/2012

If you want personal care and a practice that values your time, then don't pick this one!! I've used this practice for 20 years and the birth of my two children and will now be switching to another practice. They have gotten too big and are no longer well managed. I had to visit them twice this week. On my first visit I was left waiting in the examination room for 1 hr and 15 min before I saw the doctor. On my 2nd visit, after again waiting 1 hr and 15 min, I got dressed came out of the room and discovered that everyone had gone to lunch!!! I love Janice, but will no longer be treated like a number that someone doesn't even have the courtesy to remember! more

Awful!!! 2/26/2012

I had the worst experience I could have ever thought of in my care and then delivering my child as a first time parent. They act like they could care less, I just got treated like a number, messed up many, many times! more

Worst place 8/29/2011

hi I just want to tell you guys Kamm mckenzie obgyn in Raleigh NC is the worst practice in raleigh. Don't go there even if it means delivering your child at home. They are rude and arrogant. Their doctors are polite but their support staff is very very very rude. They are money minded and only want to extract as much money from you as possible.DONT EVER GO TO KAMM MCKENZIE OBGYN....RUNNNNNNNNNNNNN more

Wonderful Experience 7/8/2011

I can not say enough wonderful things about this practice. The entire staff is great and you are always greeted with a smile. Everyone is very professional and thorough. You rotate thru all the doctors, which I think is great. That way you are comfortable with all of the physicians and aren't surprised with someone you don't know on your big day. Dr Bernstien delivered our son and it was such a great experience. I felt so comfortable and confident with him. Thank you for such and amazing experience during my pregnancy, delivery and follow up appointments. I highly recommend this practice and all of the doctors here! more

32 hrs of contractions 6/16/2011

Kamm McKenzie is a great practice. I thought each of their staff is exactly what they should be. They were very comfortable, answered all questions and easy to talk to. I had contractions so long that I had 2 doctors, but Joel Bernstien and Michael Smith are excellent doctors and made things as easy as possible. Dr. Smith ended up delivering my daughter and I cannot say enough nice things about him. more

I would not recommend this practice 4/7/2011

Dr Harden is rude and arrogant. He talks down to you and belittles your opinions. I switched to a different provider half way through. The other staff is friendly and kind. But with my luck he would be on call when i went into labor. more

Best in town 11/18/2010

Good: The service is excellent through out the office-from the front desk, to the nurses and doctors. They are all caring and understanding.. Bad: There is nothing negative about this practice.. Other: They delivered both my children as well as helped me with through 1 miscarriage. They are wonderful people and make sure you feel comfortable with the work up they have for you as a patient. I made the mistake of trying another practice because Rex hospital is closer to my home but I quickly learned that was a bad choice and went back.. more

OBGYN 4/18/2009

They delivered my 6 yr old. They know my experience in what happened with my 1o yr old(who other doctors in Raleigh delivered which I had a terrible delivery.) I changed to this office and I can not say enough of great things about them. Every doctor in this office is awesome and takes very good care in each patient. I live 45 minutes away and is willing to drive to fell secure ans safe.I am getting ready to have 3rd child (a son) in June. more

Very Thorough! Very Caring! 11/16/2007

After quite a few horrible experiences with one obstetrician after another and five miscarriages, I struck gold when I stumbled upon this practice. I researched and called several high risk specialists in the Raleigh area and the receptionist who answered the phone was not only THE ONLY ONE who was courteous, but she explained everything to me (without my asking) about what to expect at Kamm McKenzie. My first appointment was so thorough (included a one-hour interview where I was asked more questions about myself and my history with pregnancies than with all previous practices combined). After the one hour interview, Dr. Harden met with me to discuss some of my past issues with pregnancy and apologized to me for all those before him who did not do what could and should have been done to prevent my last miscarriages. I was so overwhelmed that I actually started balling my eyes out because I felt like, for the first time, someone was actually listening and they literally told me what they could do to help me. I left that initial appointment feeling empowered. Turns out I have an incompetent cervix (something I did not know). At 12 weeks, I was given a cerclage. At 16 weeks I was started on weekly progesterone shots to help me carry to term. Today I am 34 weeks pregnant and I thank God for leading me to competent, caring, thorough practitioners. I would recommend this practice to any person who is seeking professionalism and a caring staff. The nurses know me by name and do not treat me like a number. Because of their commitment to patient care, my husband and I are expecting our first son! more

OB/GYN 7/8/2005

So, this is one of those things you don't really want to have to do, but if you have to do it, these folks are great. I interviewed Dr. McKenzie, and was quite impressed. I've also gone and had blood work done. His staff is really efficient, and they have a great set up for what they're doing. The only difficulty is that I'm not the only one who knows about them, and they're scheduled at least a month out. So, call and schedule them today. . . for next month! more
