Great Experience. 9/7/2007

I am a dining room manager at an upscale restaurant and Kabul City offers the kind of friendly and welcoming service that every restaurant should. The owner/waiter was proud of his restaurant and truly cared about our experience. He gave helpful suggestions that made us very comfortable trying a cuisine we had no experience with. When you eat here you are made to feel as though nothing is as important to the staff at this moment than you are. Kabul City's service could be used as a definition for hospitality. \r The food is also amazing I suggest trying the lamb kabobs. The prices here can't be beat so don't cut yourself short get an appetizer and dessert as well. Overall I am glad that I had the oppurtunity to eat here. It was what a restaurant should be. Pros: Food and Service Cons: nothing more

Memorable dining experience - A MUST 8/9/2007

While in SF for business, my friend and I decided to eat at a different ethnic restaurant every evening. Kubal City was the highlight of our trip! The elegant restaurant with one corner of low tables and velvety pillows was very welcoming. The owner and his wife were gracious and informative about the food we ordered - which area of Afghanistan the dish originated, how it was prepared and what it was made from. You must try the eggplant with mint-yogurt and cucumbers - yummmmm! The custard dessert with pistachios was creamy, light and delicious (Furgee?) The food was served quickly and was one of the less expensive dinners we had while experiencing SF, which made it the best value of our trip. I am now hooked on Afghani food! Pros: Friendly proprietors, ambiance, value Cons: absolutely none more

Great food; nice atmosphere 7/28/2007

We stopped at this Afgahn restaurant after a tour of the bay area and had a great time. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS, but my mouth still waters for more of that eggplant dish! The owner, who was also our waiter, was gracious, fun, and efficient. When I return to SF, I will make a point of having another meal - maybe two - there. LOVED it! This was my favorite restaurant - best food and dining experience of the entire trip. more

Great food and outstanding service! 7/6/2007

The sign outside is pretty generic and is easy to walk by the place without noticing. My wife and I decided to give it a try. We were greeted by a very friendly and hospitable owner. He was excited to have us there and to try Afghani food. The food was served quickly and he was very attentive to us having a good experienc there. I got the steak kabobs. I've never had such flavorful steak before. My wife had a chicken/spinach dish that she also enjoyed. You'll love the Afghani bread they serve with yogurt too. They've only been open a few months, and we wish them the best of luck! Pros: Friendly owner, great food for a good price more

New Afghani Food In Town! 6/25/2007

Ever since Helmand has been out of service I have found myslef set to visit this new Afghani restaurant with my friends. Excellent food from the afghani culture will make you want more. What i mainly love about this is the morals and floor seating they have, different from your other SF restaurants, especially in Fishermans Wharf area. My buddy is a Vegan and is in love with the Badinjon Burani which is eggplant with garlic flavored yogurt. But i have my favorite, the Qabuli Pallow brown rice with meat with sliced carrots and raisons! getting hungry. Great place for family. Check it out but still wouldnt forget about Helmands as soon as it opens. Pros: Affordable and family friendly Cons: Not a prime location and parking more
