Horrid Service 1/20/2011

Horrendous customer service ... The guy behind the counter Yelled at me after He made a mistake while ringing up my items. I have never been so mortified! They have good prices and a good selection but I am starting to think it is not worth the horrible service I receive every time I enter their store! more

Ok to shop, terrible to consign here 3/10/2010

I've enjoyed shopping here over the past 7 years since my first was born, but the consignment percentage is really pathetic. I took in a ton of stuff to consign and they chose about 75 pieces that I had brought - all very nice name brand, lots of Gap, Gymboree even a few Hannas. They offered me $48. Yep, $48. I told them I wasn't interested and to please give me back my stuff. They acted shocked and insulted and said "well, what did you expect to get for it?" From buying there for years I knew pretty much what they would charge for each item and I expected a fair consignment percentage, not the 12% or so I figured out afterwards that they must have offered me. Buy, by all means, but don't sell here! There is a much better consignment store slightly south of here near Silver Lake...not sure I should post their name on this review, but even though it's smaller I'd suggest you try to consign there first. more

Not just for kids 8/24/2006

Just For Kids used to be a great place to shop. After all, why spend hundreds on baby clothes and gear that they'll outgrow in months (if not weeks)? JFK sells used clothing for kids of all ages, as well as maternity clothes. They also sell used baby gear, such as strollers, high chairs, car seats, cribs, and toys, and they buy clothing and equipment, too. I used to love to shop here; in fact, it wasn't unusual for me to spend an hour or so a couple days a week when my son was tiny. However, although I've been assured they haven't changed owners, there has definitely been a change of management style if not management. While they used to buy back clothes generously, they are now extremely choosy about what they'll buy. It is no longer good enough for the clothing to just be cute and in very good condition. Because of this, I now have a hard time finding clothes for my son. Their racks, which were once filled to bursting, are half empty. It's no longer an enjoyable and beneficial shopping expedition, and it is certainly not worth my time to wash and bag up six or seven sacks of clothes just to bring five and a half of them back home again! In addition, the old staff was cheerful and friendly (the "main" employee back then, whether a manager or an employee, knew my son by name and always had a big smile for us when we came in); now they've all disappeared, and the new staff is not helpful or friendly--the one I suspect is the owner is not at all pleasant in her manner, in fact. I've stopped going to this particular store except once or twice a year--just to check if there's been another change in management. So far, no such luck. I'd say, if it's convenient, give it a look-see but don't get your hopes up; if it's not, don't bother--there are other used and consignment kids' clothing stores around! more

Ok for a consignment store! 4/1/2006

This store is overwhelming! It's three stories high and just crammed to the gils with used clothing. They have a lot of nice things for smaller babies - age 2 and under, but when you get into the bigger sizes, quality declines and it's harder to find nice pieces. This is one of the less-picky consignment store in the area, but there is a reason for that - their prices are dirt cheap! When you do find that name brand treasure, hidden behind three rows of junk, trust me - it feels great! Bottom line: if you're in the mood to hunt, this is a good place to do it. more

Wow! What a lot of clothes! 10/12/2005

They have everything you need to outfit your kids in second hand and probably more. You can buy, sell and trade. Be sure to set up an appointment to sell or trade clothes. They are MUCH more generous if you are trading than if you are selling, but still don't expect to get much even then. It seems to run less then a dollar a piece EVEN if they are brand new clothes with their tags on. They are always polite when trading(or selling); unlike some places that insult you because you didn't see that teeny stain on an item you brought in. They have more than clothes, too-videos, baby equipment, ride-on toys, books. If it's for kids, they just might have it. more
