i WENT TO JULIUS ON 5/7/11 FOR A WASH,CUT & STYLE. I BOUGHT A BUYWITHME DEAL FOR A VERY GOOD PRICE. I CALLLED & SPOKE TO JULIUS ON THE PHONE B/F I PURCASED THE DEAL HIS PHYLOSOPHY ON HAIR WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE. HE TOLD ME WE WOULD HAVE A CONSULTATION B/F THE CUT & HE STAYED TRUE TOO HIS WORD. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW MY HAIR WAS TRANSFORMED BY JULIUS. I WENT IN WITH MID LENGTH LAYERED HAIR ABOUT 5 INCHES PAST MY SHOULDERS, I WALKED OUT WITH PRECISION! HIGH SHINE & EXACTLLY WHAT I INVISIONED!!! MY BOYFRIEND JOHN WATCHED THE MAGIC FROM START TO FINISH,HE TYPICALLY HAS NO INTEREST IN HAIR WE'LL TIL NOW. HE SAID I LOOK LIKE A DIFFERENT PERSON IMOROVED OF COURSE. THE CUT I GOT WILL BE EASY FOR ME TO DO AT HOME YET LOOKS HIGH FASHION &MODERN. I HAVE NEVER MET NOR EVER HEAR OF SUCH AN ARTIST AT HAIR. The owner is a great personality, and can do good work, but the main downfall is the lack of consistency. You can get brilliant, or crazy. Makes for a stressful haircut. more

the whole experience of going to Julius is wonderful. his shop is that rare thing - full of art and awards and excellance and free of any pretension. you feel welcome when you walk in - and, if your like me, you love your hair when you walk out. more

I trust julius so much so with my hair, that on my first visit I was completely comfortable with having him do whatever he felt was best and I absolutely LOVE the results. He treats the process more like sculpting than a mere hair cut, which gives the experience much more depth and personality. What's more, he's an awesome character and the shoppe is such an eccentrically entertaining atmosphere. You really feel safe in the hands of Julius Scissor while simultaneously oozing with excitement over what he create. I'm also pretty sure the cut Julius gave me makes my chest look bigger. Julius Scissor cut my hair twice. He gave me the best haircut of my life - and the worst. The first cut was 360 degrees of beautifully shaped hair, with all of my natural curls and waves falling beautifully into place without any help or effort ... beautiful even when I rolled out of bed with no styling products. Three months later it still looked beautifully shaped ... like an extension of my body. Naturally, I went back to him. Like a sheep to the slaughter! The second haircut was the WORST haircut I have ever received in my life! It was a mullet!!! All of this happened about 3 years ago....I guess mullets were popular in Europe at the time or something? But it was so unflattering for me. I was so traumatized about the mullet that I never went back to him, in spite of his kind offers to fix it for free and a discount for the next haircut. Anyway, to make a long story short, why do I give him 4 stars instead of 1? Because ever since he cut my hair, for 3 years, I have tried unsuccessfully to reproduce the beautiful haircut he first gave me ... on my own and with other stylists ... with pictures ... to no avail!! It's like looking for the lost grail. I WANT that haircut again!! Am I doomed to search the rest of my life for someone who can cut curls like Julius Scissor can? I think I will try one or two more places just to say I tried everything I could ... but if I still have no luck then am seriously thinking about going back to him on my knees to beg for him to give me that lovely haircut again. Pros: A masterfully beautiful haircut that didn't require ANY human intervention to look good! Cons: A MULLET!! more

New to the city, intrigued by the artwork in the window, in need of a haircut, I first entered the salon of Julius Scissor 6 months ago and do not intend to have anyone else cut my hair ever again (which may prove difficult were I ever to move, but where there is a will there is a way). more

ok, where do i begin...julius is awesome, period. unlike the chopshop, where i spent the better part of my impoverished graduate career getting coiffed, julius was punctual, friendly, economical and actually did an amazing job on my hair, to boot!!! upon entering his salon, he offered me a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun and discussed the later half of the dadaist movement while cutting my hair, as 1960's french pop music played in the background. i'm not sure if i have more respect for the fact that he is an artist himself (his installation pieces are placed throughout his salon) or is able to give a fabulous haircut...try him out for yourself to be the judge;) Pros: pleasant staff/atmosphere Cons: none. more

Where do I begin? Julius is such an amazing hair stylist, and person! I don't trust many people with my hair but Julius is one of the only people that I do trust with my hair. He cut and colored my hair. I asked him to cut it so that I can allow it to grow out nice and neatly, and to color so that it looked rich and vibrant. He did just that. I've been getting compliments everywhere I go even when I don't style my hair!! He is AMAZING!!! I would recommend him to anyone! Thank you so much Julius for being the Master of my hair!!! Thank the powers that be for dear Julius! He has cut my hair for 8 years and I would not even consider going to anyone else. He is easy to talk to and a true professional! The exhibited art in his salon are merely stationary creations. There are so many of his live masterpieces walking around the immediate area. Truly a local celebrity and icon, Julius remains down-to-Earth. The intimate setting of his salon is a breath of fresh air. I am thankful that I have such a talented professional taking great time and energy to make me look my best. Let the masses flock to OGGI and Pierre & Carlo. We visited Julius for the first time last week. It was a marvelous experience. He and his staff were kind. Julius made me feel beautiful. I would highly recommend him. He cut and colored my hair. I have very thin hair and he knew just what to do with it. more
